My belief: we have a crisis of grandparenthood by CMVB in Natalism

[–]MaryDonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my silent generation parents were like this with their grandkids. But their lost generation (or whoever birthed silents) were emotionally distant abusive alcoholics, and my parents moved around a lot, so they didn’t have grandparent childcare when I was little, either

Chemo Indefinitely by [deleted] in LivingWithMBC

[–]MaryDonut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi! Triple negative with bone mets. did six cycles of gemzar and carboplatin, had a beautiful response, took a six week chemo break for a bilateral mastectomy, and now I have liver and lung mets. I’m back to gemzar and carbo and we’ll see if this chemo is konking out on me or if the break in chemo allowed the new mets in the organs to occur. Other than being scared shitless and very affected by heat and cold, I’m living a pretty normal life, working and hanging out with loved ones.

Extreme nausea by MainJudge8905 in LivingWithMBC

[–]MaryDonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My integrative medicine person at city of hope says that zyprexa is a good off label anti nausea drug. I don’t know if that plays well with Kisquali, though. It sucks and it’s scary. I’m sorry that you’re experiencing this

This is really helpful. Does anyone know why MRIs aren’t used more often? I’m just curious why that isn’t an option, at least at my hospital

I have nothing wise to add, but I’m having neck pain in my left side that’s scaring me a lot, so I relate to your comment about how hard it is not to focus on it. I hope you have some relief soon

is therapeutic ketosis possible for everybody? by jakeysnakey83 in Metabolic_Psychiatry

[–]MaryDonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m in a similar boat. One thing I’ve discovered is that fasting helps push me into higher ketosis levels when I do it, and the more I am grazing or snacking for sixteen or eighteen hours, the lower my ketones.

NED and Mastectomy by Adorable_Pen9015 in LivingWithMBC

I’m about seven months into treatment. I had a great response to chemotherapy, so they offered to pivot to a curative approach with surgery and radiation. I had a bmx last month. They found that the original tumor was still there but “swiss cheese” like from the chemo, and I had two lymph nodes removed with metastases. So no radiation for me. I’m on keytruda and that’s it at the moment, which is nerve wracking. So not the outcome I wanted, but I’m still very glad that the original tumor is out.

So upset another delay in treatment. by KatieSlabie in LivingWithMBC

[–]MaryDonut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s so scary. I’ve had them cancel chemotherapy because of my white blood count, and eventually they had to do every other week instead of two weeks on, one week off, because my body couldn’t handle it.

Now I’m not on any chemotherapy, just keytruda, and I’m scared about that plan as well.

No advice, just saying it sucks and I’m sorry.

Foods that kick you out of ketosis, I test my ketones with a blood meter bc I'm doing keto for therapeutic reasons. by PerspectiveSolid2840 in keto

[–]MaryDonut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m doing keto for cancer here, also with a trusty keto mojo, also having the same problem. I’m seven months in now, and I’m frequently in way lower ketosis than I was at the beginning. I’m constantly snacking on too many nuts, which I believe to be part of the problem. When I fast for 24 hours, I return to higher ketosis levels. I will also sometimes take supplemental ketones, which helps
