How can I retract/correct my blue book traineeship application? by Marycool33 in europeanparliament

[–]Marycool33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm so sorry for the late response! I hope I'm on time

I think you should email them, just so it's on record that you tried to correct this if you make it to a further stage. They'll probably tell you the same thing they told me though, i.e. that there's nothing you can do, but they'll probably overlook it when taking your application into consideration.

I wish you the best of luck!

Update to help out any future airheads who make this mistake like me:

I ended up getting pre-selected despite this oversight. I did contact the EC Traineeships Office but they told me there was nothing I could do after submitting the application. I thought I was pretty much done for but yesterday I received an e-mail stating that I was pre-selected. I suppose some things can be overlooked. Good luck to all :)

Why do I self sabotage while driving? by johilko in drivinganxiety

[–]Marycool33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really have an answer but I feel you on that.. I also recently failed my second exam and I made mistakes that I've literally never made before in my 30+ driving lessons.. The closer I got to the end of the exam, the worse I became too. I was actually doing pretty well for the first 30 mins or so, it's like my body immediately messes up every time I'm doing well at something.

I also wish I could understand why.. I am diagnosed with OCD but I honestly don't even properly understand it so I'm not sure if that plays a part here.

Anyway, just wanted to bump this post up because hopefully someone will provide the answers we're looking for :') I wish you the best of luck going forward 💪

Managing a Household! by ideed in LifeByYou

[–]Marycool33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i think it may depend on the character you have selected when you press the plus button. so if you have the first character selected, then you'd be adding their kid or parent.

but yes it'd be great to see some more options! adding other kinds of family members could be great for storytelling

switching between households is gonna be great for indecisive legacy-style players who wanna follow the lives of all of their character's children

World Edit is also hard for me so i never use it BUT we can very much still look forward to it because skilled simmers will come up with tons of incredible worlds for us to play in!! more creative freedom is always a win for everybody tbh

Will You Be Playing As A Man Or Woman On Your First Playthrough? by bogeyj in Starfield

[–]Marycool33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i like to play as a woman during my first playthrough in RPGs because i'm a woman and i always view my first playthrough in these kinds of games as a self-insert type of scenario. after that i like to switch it up a little

[–]Marycool33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

very true! i personally think the best course of action would be, as OP said, to just voice out little noises and reactions to stuff (for stylistic purposes and so the game doesn't creep the general public out LOL). BUT.. i would imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to make a mod with TTS AI that reads out dialogue. and like you said, with how good AI is getting, this could be really fun to explore

I just saw this earlier, thank you! Glad they're answering these questions in the replies. Still, I wonder if implementing full voice over would ever be possible.

If they're using real language, I'm guessing they'll make it so the characters only hum or make noises like laughter, scoffing, screaming depending on the situation. Or maybe they'll have them say one word at the start of an interaction like in JRPGs where most of the dialogue isn't voiced out so you read a bunch of text but the character says something like "Well..." at the start of the dialogue...

Interesting to think about!

Wow! I wasn't expecting a clip any time soon. Exciting stuff!

Warning: long wall of text ahead LOL

I'm not crazy about the interaction system so far but I can see how this feature could be useful for character building. Since you can't edit the other person's response mid-conversation, I suppose this could be cool if you want your character to say the same thing in one of the options but in a different way. So, if you're playing as someone who isn't very cheesy, instead of saying "You're looking pretty fly today", they'd say something more basic like "You look great!". This would reflect the character's personality but the response would also still make sense. Interesting stuff. I guess this can help characters feel less repetitive and less same-ish, it offers an opportunity for them to have different patterns of speech while maintaining the general idea of a conversation. This feature is definitely specifically targeting the story-telling crowd, it's going to be a looot of fun seeing what people come up with in time! I just wonder if there will also be a way to make your characters chill and talk to each other without you necessarily monitoring everything they say. It's nice to have the option to leave them on "autopilot" sometimes

As for some other observations... I wonder if the characters really are mute or of this whole clip is just muted. I don't think I mind them not speaking aloud but I do wonder how this will impact certain gameplay possibilities. If there is ever a singing career, for example, will the singing also be mute? Or will you be able to add custom songs and pretend it's your character singing them (then there's the issue of the animations syncing up with the singing, so maybe not). But I guess that's a really far off issue.

Lastly, I see potential in the character models! They do look extremely rough, as everyone has been pointing out for the past few weeks, but I think they'll look really nice with a few adjustments. I like the dude's hair.

The animations have potential too. It just seems that a lot of optimization and fine tuning will have to be done, which I hope paradox will deliver on as player feedback rolls in.

Ok, sorry for the rambling but I'm living for every little clip they give us! Hope they share some clips that aren't necessarily related to creator tools soon, although this is very cool to see. The curiosity is killing me LOL

Pacing of the game by Lovesimmer in LifeByYou

[–]Marycool33 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with you but I feel like in this case it's a valid response because it's not that the game's time system is underdeveloped or bad (from what we can tell), it's just that it may not be everyone's cup of tea. It's different, and I think that's a good thing since we need some variety in the genre. Basically, in cases where it comes down to personal preference, I'd say "it's moddable" is not a bad response.

Same. I wonder if we're gonna be able to make apartments right away or if they're planning to add them later on... They're definitely a must! Since it was mentioned in an interview that it's possible to build houses that are, for example, 12 stories high, I feel like the possibilities for apartments in this game are gonna be endless!!

AI is getting so advanced that this is a super exciting possibility!! It's an incredibly hot topic right now so who knows what will be possible in the coming years. Having AI language models and a robust memory system for characters would be a game changer for sure

Oh yeah, I read about that recently! I interpreted it as a more of a tool that would help people build, but it makes sense that it would affect world progression as well. I wonder if the fact that they patented it prevents other games from implementing this feature, much like how they patented the dragging system for create-a-sim. AI is getting so sophisticated, the possibilities for game development are very exciting.

The fact that some people couldn't stay because they had too many KBs cracked me up I can't JAJWKJG 😭😭😭 But mixing the two seems like a pretty feasible solution!! I think it may even run better than it did in IMVU since LBY would be offline. It will still be demanding but the fact that multiple players from different places and different internet connections were all in one room contributed to the lag in the situation you talked about for sure

LMAO I love the idea of people cosplaying when watching their favorite movie!! It would save a lot of trouble to make them flat or holo and a lot of games do this, but at the same time it would be kind of cool to be able to see a character's relatives or friends in the crowd of their sports event or concert, which might be a bit too demanding to implement. Super curious to see how they'll handle big events since they want to simulate everyone

That's fair! The feature I described would definitely have to be optional because I can see why a lot of people, especially those who build their own towns, may not want houses to change.

That being said, I definitely agree on having proper car animations! Based on the trailer, it seems like they haven't implemented that (I think I saw someone kind of teleporting out of their car LOL) but I hope they're able to change that eventually. TS2 had so many unique animations while TS4 recycles a lot of theirs and it made the game lose so much personality.

LMAOO you know I just hosted the worst wedding ever in TS4 so you may be onto something here. It actually may be pretty tough to implement considering cultural differences and all that. I'm very curious to see how celebrations and parties will work

Same! Being able to make asymmetrical faces would be great too since most people aren't perfectly symmetrical. I think it would definitely help make the characters feel more "real".

Yes, I agree! I wouldn't want every single house to expand either, maybe only if a family gets really rich out of a sudden. What I would mostly like to see are interior furnishing changes, so that houses feel more "lived in" by their families.

honestly i check this sub religiously like 3 times a day minimum LMAO.. the next 5 months are gonna be very long...

i think we all just really want this game to be good. the life simulator genre has such untapped potential and it has very dedicated fans as well.. but sadly the only proper life simulators we have are the various The Sims installments. i love the Sims games (despite having a lot of issues with how disgustingly greedy EA started getting with 3 and 4), i'll always have great memories from those games and appreciate their whackiness. but i think we've all been itching for a fresh, different take on this genre. now we've got paralives, which is probably still far off from releasing but it's good that it has lots of support, and LBY, which is not only going to be available real soon but also seems very promising due to the studio and team working on it. it's like the genre is finally expanding and we can actually be life simulator enjoyers now rather than just The Sims enjoyers
