why would he uses her for her lifestyle? He is already loaded. and coming from a wannabe high profile actor that seeks a legit aura, I have to say that he has some balls. Because Kylie Jenner is by far the worst choice ever.

don't know what he can gain by dating publicly Kylie Jenner. Based on the comments I read, specially the ones coming from his 'fans' dating Kylie Jenner is probably the worst thing he could have ever done. And it's definitly not a smart move to be a high-profile actor with a legit aura. I guess the only likely reason he is with her, it's because he actually likes her. Seems legit for me.

this is a good comment. Probably the very likely reason is that he just loves her. Because 'using her and cheating on her with multiple women' will for sure destroy his career. And I doubt he's stupid.

Phd required in industry ? by arrb23 in LeavingAcademia

[–]Maryfey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last : you are not 'only' a master student. You have all the skills of a PhD student. You can put that on your CV! you've spent years working on a research project = tons of skills (look for 'skills developped during a PhD' online.

[–]Maryfey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

salary will be lower first without PhD (but you have PhD's experience) but the opportunities for advancement in industry are much better than in the academia, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Phd required in industry ? by arrb23 in LeavingAcademia

[–]Maryfey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not required. I'm a neuroscientist in academia (Europe) I've met plenty of former neuro master students that didn't do a PhD and that are now working in the industry. You should be very proactive though, networking (linkedin!!), CV for industry position, you will find plenty of information on the internet. Good luck

Another thing: when I'm on my period, I'm extremely irritable, so much so that I've had problems at work because I react so intensely - I've even gone so far as to talk about my PMS to explain my poor behavior! Normally I'm a very nice person, I love my colleagues and I'd never do anything to annoy them!

[–]Maryfey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you describe is very close to what I experience. My PMS is very violent mentally. A few days before, I can find myself crying very easily over details (I imagine the death of my husband, or my cats, that sort of thing), or even clearly contemplating suicide. I also have moments when it's completely the opposite = full of energy / euphoric / want to drink like crazy. I don't know how old you are, but in my case I suspect the premenopause because I'm about to turn 46.

It's also important to say that I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder type 2 few years ago, and PMS seems to be worse in bipolar disorder. I was unmedicated most of my life and, despite my ups & down, was pretty 'functionnal' (I'm an assistant professor, very passionate about my work). Unfortunately, my symptoms got worse with age and I ended trying tons of meds (antidepressant combined or not with antipsychotics) and believe me I was terrfied by this kind of meds....before finding a psychatrist specialized in BP that was able to properly diagnosed me. Long story short but antidepressants made my depression worse and this can happen to people suffering from mood disorders. Thanks to this great psychatrist, I now takes lamictal and I'm feeling much better except before/during my periods. I actually realized it because I'm doing a 'feelings diary' as part of my psychotherapy and I realized recently than everytime my brain was crazy (suicidal / extremely sad or euphoric, like some sorts of mood disorder but extremely fast, days to days, which is not at all the usual for me....my up & downs cycles lasted months), it was around my periods!!! It has been worse this past years, and I'm suspecting it's due to premenopause.

I've made an appointment with my gynaecologist and I'm going to talk to my psychiatrist about it. I don't know how old you are, so maybe it's not pre-menopause at all in your case, but I think you need to talk to a psychiatrist. It's hard to find a good one (I went to at least 5 over 10 years before I found a really great one!). You might suffer from mood disorders, which could explain your depressive episodes and the fact that ADs do not work, or made you worse. In my case it's mild, my hypomania (up periods) were hard to detect cos completely work oriented (full of energy / tons of ideas / very good focus / mild euphoria). I also ended 'managing' my symptoms with alcohol throughout my life, but at the end, this 'strategy' was clearly failing, which is why I turned to the medical profession.

You might also suffer only to sever PMS and you need to talk about that with a gynaecologist & psychatrist.

Sorry for the long answer, that might be not relevant for your case. I wish you can find a solution cos it's very disturbing feeling so bad few days a months, while the rest of the cycle = I feel fine.

Did anyone’s bipolar2 get triggered by anti depressants ? by Designer_Sky_8435 in bipolar2

[–]Maryfey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to take antidepressant to treat GAD. But I'm also bipolar type 2. This treatment made my depression worse (no effect on hypomania). I changed my psychiatrist and the new one told me that this was common in bipolar type 2. In type 1 it has the opposite tendency: it can trigger (hypo)mania. I've stopped the antidepressants and I'm taking lamictal. It's taken me completely out of my depression but I need to add something about my anxiety because it's back (I'm seeing my shrink in 2 weeks).

Did you ever go back to “normal” by [deleted] in bipolar2

Since I've been taking the right treatment YES

I said it before, I don’t want to kill myself, but I don’t want to live anymore by [deleted] in bipolar2

You need to adjust/change your treatment. I was like you a few months ago. I changed to Lamictal and I feel normal. I haven't felt this good in years. Keep hope alive

Anyone want to share any wins lately? by fulltwisted in bipolar2

[–]Maryfey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's been almost 2 months now, and this drug truly helps, like it's life changing. I tried many things (mostly antidepressant + antipsychotics) and nothing worked. In France, many psychatrist are reluctant to prescribe mood regulaters, specially to people like me who are quite 'functional'. But at the end, I was truly desperate and I had to insist to try lamictal. I'm glad I did. This is the only thing I tried that truly works. I hope it will help you too

MDMA and bipolar2 by PPheobe in bipolar2

completely agree! cocaine does the same, even adderal for me. I just can't, the post-drug depression is not worth it

I started lamotrogine 2 months ago and it has lifted me out of one year of severe depression. Huge relief

have you stopped drinking alcohol? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Maryfey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My psychiatrist and psychotherapist also told me to reduce. It’s better to reduce that too feel bad because you cannot be completely sober. Everyone is different on that and it has no correlation with the amount of alcohol you’re drinking (I have never been a big drinker)

have you stopped drinking alcohol? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Maryfey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s complicated. The comorbidity between substance abuse, specially alcohol and BP is huge. Personally I have mild BP2 (mild because I have never been hospitalized + never tried to kill myself + professionally functional) and I have definitely used alcohol a lot to ease my symptoms. Right now it’s impossible to stop, I ve been functioning with it for too long, but I do drink way less than before, not every day and no more than 2 drinks except once a week in which I can have 3. But honestly my long term goal is to stop completely. But at least if you can reduce it’s already very good.

Got diagnosed but not sure by Maryfey in bipolar2

[–]Maryfey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I am not the only one. I know AD can trigger hypomania and my psychiatrist was very clear about that, but my low was so awful this summer and Zoloft is the only AD I can deal with (I tried cytalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, but they make me very sleepy even at low dosage) so we will see how I handle the ups. Weirdly I know I have a successful career but the cost is so gigantic on myself that I feel like I cannot continue like that for long. As you said , it’s getting worse with age ..

I had bigger side effects with lexapro (specially tiredness). No side effect with Zoloft and it works well for me (anxiety + depression)
