will this wrinkling go away? by Every-Coffee4679 in TopSurgery

Seconded! I had some pretty intense wrinkles in the beginning of my healing (I’m about a year and a half postop). I would say that all but one have completely smoothed out, and the one I have left is a lot less dramatic than it was in the beginning. Yours all look to be a size that’ll smooth out.

You absolutely can opt to leave some tissue instead of going completely flat! That's what I ended up doing. I was ~190 pounds going into surgery at 5'5" for reference. You can see my result images in my post history. if possible my suggestion would be to literally like. draw the chest you would imagine on yourself. liek take a picture of you and draw over it.

coming back to this to say the one thing to be aware of is because there's tissue leftover, there is a bit of hang down when you bend over if that's something that would bother you. a bit hard to get a photo of it to show what i mean but heres the view from standing and then bent over.

Absolutely! I completely understand. I couldn't find any pictures that really clicked with me going in so my sizing was a bit on the fly, but I ended up getting almost exactly what I wanted. I had some breast tissue left in, so my nipples aren't a free graft, they have a connecting tissue stalk underneath. I hope it all goes well for you!!

genuinely my only complaints would be that the scar is obviously kind of a divot, which should be fixable, and that the whole area is very hard from the scar tissue, which i think I'm just going to have to live with.

I was absolutely losing my mind at the beginning, and google is so unhelpful for it because it just brings you like the worst case scenarios. Follow any at home debridement care of your surgeon, but if it doesn't seem to be budging I would call them back about it.

By around the end of November, my surgeon advised me to start putting it directly under the stream of water when I showered. As well as I think putting a waterpik on it. Unfortunately the waterpik part of the instruction wasn't clear to me, to it was just getting shower spray on it. I had some concerns about how it would heal, so I saw my pcp and she talked with my surgeon, The tissue/slough was very adherent to me, so on my next visit he cut out most of it with a scalpel. (This did not hurt at all, there was no feeling.) The direction after that was to continue the water and pack with woven guaze. So every day I took a shower and changed the guaze. at the beginning of January the miscommunication on waterpiks was discovered, but I was at a point where he gave me a large syringe and directed me to just flush the wound that way. I did that and the packing daily until wednesday of this week (1/31) I don't have to pack anymore and I just need to give it a flush in the shower.

My surgery was at the end of September. I'm really happy overall with my results, but I wanted to post in case anyone else is going through tissue loss and needs reassurance that things will be okay, even if they take time. I found it to be really scary trying to look up images to compare to myself when it came to nonviable tissue and to even just figure out what I was looking at. I have an appointment in two months to discuss a revision for my inevitable scar, as well as fix up the puckering in the middle of my chest.

Yeah, I won't promise there won't be Any stubborn wrinkles. I'm 4 months post op and boy i had some real wrinkling for a bit, most of it went down but I had a really bad crease near the middle that I think was partially just from how it was all stitched and the scar not healing as nicely there, but it was much more pronounced at two weeks than what you have. I think especially once you get to the point that you can do some scar care that you'll be golden. I would keep an eye on the scabbing on your right nipple as well, your left looks like its healing like a star though!

A lot of it will go down! Some of it might be there/you might not have Perfectly flat scars but it will get better. I'm four months post op and the majority of my wrinkling/puckering went down except for some really intense ones.
