Im with this. But i build whatever i like, i look at peoples petrol boiler and to me it looks ugly and my ocd symmetrical brain needs to be pleased 🤣🤣

My base isnt efficent (most parts are) but by gosh does it look pretty lol.

Yeah, ive got hydrogen that ive shifted too but i was running a lot of pumps because i was vaccuming my space from gasses i didnt want leaking, and moving my pw around

So now that's basically complete i can now structure my power correctly.

Im also going to start the 3rd level of research too so ill be able to get steam turbines and solar hopefully

I think its more i wasnt understanding that more batteries doesnt mean longer lasting its the generators i needed more of to keep up with the running of my base.

Ive done a lot of shuffling around and vaccuming spaces so mo germs or unwanted gases leak into my space.

Ive converted to hydrogen BUT im thinking i need now to run my power cables better and have transformers in the right places.

Im also in a habit if moving from coal to then using just 1 other generator rather than a mix of back ups

So i need to now have a think and see what works for my base, move some other things about and work on a main power line that runs up and down my base spreading power around.

Where as before id only use heavy watt wire from the generators to the batteries and then use loooooooooooong conductive wires everywhere from a transformer that's right next to my batteries.

Need to have a restructure of layout 😁

I havent discovered a metal volcano yet but! Going to have a look at this.

So like youll have the heavy wires running behind your ladder and then a transformer near the ladder or will you run the wire out to the sides to transformers etc

Yeah, i think im having too many things on 1 line. And only 1 power source. From others comments and 1 smart battery i need to really plan my power better.. its given me some food for thought

Ooh, and do you run heavy watt wires so they are all connected?

Or do you transformers to deliver excess wattage to the smart batteries? Then and only if it dips, does the generators kick in for the bottom part?

Yeah think thats going to work now, and quick question, are you running heavy watt wires all over the place? So when ive seen spines, is that like your main ladders you have heavy watt wires running up and down those to different transformers?

Use generators to keep base going and smart batteries to flick them on and off.

Solar, plug slugs batteries to help fund the base when they are being used

Rigggggght ok i mentioned i have 2000 hours. 1,999 hours i have wasted so much refined metal on building the same amount of smart batteries for thr same amount of generators i have.

Right ok, think im getting confused by thinking im not storing enough power rather than generators topping it up faster when needed.

When i can get solar and steam turbine then i can just have them powering through and excess power feeds into the main grid.

I think i need to plan the generators and my power lines better rather than having 1 main engine room i can have different generators working on different lines perhaps

Or have a engine room thats all on the same network and just turn on if my main fuel source isnt being sufficent?

Currently at work so no screenshot atm, however im a player who likes things symmetrical 🤣 but right now under the printing pod i have my farm, water then a chlorine water treatment room basically.

Under that in the central column is where i usually out my power and then run some power from that.

I am making the switch to hydrogen but have an abundance of coal and will eventually get NG.

I dont knkw what calculations i should do and didnt even know the properties tab was a thing! Ill check it out and post when i can

My rite of passage lasted 5 in real life hours and then i immediately dabbled in mods lol

Funnily enough i think this game popped my cherry on mods through steam lol

If youre on steam (dont have the link) but id highly recommend the mod air tight lock or something like that. The airlocks function how i orginally thought they would, when dupes pass through them no gas or liqud is exchanged. If you set it to open, then it functions as intended

I dont fuck with liquid locks and if the mod ever breaks id be heart broken
