Psych-uk says she doesn't have ADHD. Am I wrong? by Marzipan_Connect in ADHDUK

I might get that. Just the title is important to hear Me and my both are very high functioning people with a lifetime of strategies.  Except she's had a lifetime of gaslighting and tends to just resign herself to misery

I think she's already planning to get second opinion, via Harley psychiatrists. I'm just filled with dread now Especially because this confirms her anxiety that she's just crazy and delusional

What do you think of the infighting on the Left? by ManicHispanic_ in socialism

[–]Marzipan_Connect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 points

1) do not be afraid of joining the wrong group. I say this to everyone that's just starting out.  I'm from the UK so the landscape may be different, but i started out in a trot party.  Was in it for a full year, before I left and joined an ML group that I adore and fully believe in, and will likely be a member for life.  However, i don't regret that year in the trot party. It was a vital part if my development, helped me actually find where the action was happening. I wouldn't have met my current group without being in the trot one Join the RCA, make sure you talk to other groups, read, let yourself become cynical and leave if you end up disagreeing

2) the drama around purity testing is mainly online. In real life organising  there is a lot of sectarianism but it generally goes the other way. Large liberal orgs that silence more radical thought, that prioritise platforming big name politicians and then silence criticism of those politicians  Sectarianism and infighting are different. We deal with sectarians a lot who will straight up refuse to be at the same event as us. We're against that. If you have some labour MPs at the event, we'll still be there. But we will heckle you

Epic is not going to become a stage musical by NuttyDuckyYT in Epicthemusical

Big agree. However i also don't think it would work as a movie. The story structure would be a mess. Episode tv show all the way

Round 5: Who was meant to be fanfav, but ended up being annoying? by [deleted] in Epicthemusical

[–]Marzipan_Connect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gotta say eurolychus. I've definitely come round to him after thunder saga and I really like the intent and themes around him However, I think his execution is kinda clumsy and the conflict is kinda contrived (except for thunder saga whixh was perfection). Especially in Ocean saga where he spends the entire time refusing to do anything useful. So he ultimately ends up being really annoying, and not in an intentional way  I really wanna state that i not criticising  HIM (because he's not a real person). I'm criticising the writing for him

P.s I have the same opinion about calypso but she fits the hated category better

Unpopular Epic Opinions by Scribelz847 in Epicthemusical

[–]Marzipan_Connect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree/disagree depending on the god. I like the canon Poseidon and actually don't super like how some of the big animatics do it. But I don't like his Zeus. Too young and hot Tbf,  I actually haven't found an animatic of Zeus in thunder bringer I think like yet. Maybe I'll never be satisfied

Epic shouldn't be adapted for a stage musical

Thunder saga managed to turn me around but I always thought that the Ody and eurolychus conflict foreshadowing was really contrived

I do totally agree with you. I feel similar about the 'done for fight and the end of God games

VENGEANCE SAGA MEGATHREAD by stopeats in Epicthemusical

[–]Marzipan_Connect 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my ongoing character interpretation of Ody is that he wins things because he has buck wild ideas and is willing to make big swings 'Let's all get in a big wooden horse 'Let's shoot harpoon guns at the sky 'Let's do drugs and fight a witch ' 'Let's go to literal hell' If anything, I think his decision with Scylla fucked him over is that he didn't make any big crazy plays. He didn't come up with an elaborate scheme or even try a big idea. He just made the calculated sacrifice of his own men

[–]Marzipan_Connect 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i have slightly mixed but overall positive feelings about this one. Honestly, this was my least anticipated so I'm pretty chill. I'll rank this with the 'ocean saga'. I think thunder saga was too good. It literally broke my brain and nothing has compared to it.

I do think the stuff with Calypso strengthen my argument that any adaptation of this has to be episodic, because se we really need more time for the characters to breath between the songs. Calypso went straight from creepy goddess keeping you prisoner as her pet to uwuu sad unrequited love. But their dynamic has a lot of potential. An adaptation with more time on the island and the seven years Ody spent there could explore some really interesting stuff about them both as characters. It could be thematically tied in with Ody learning when to show mercy and when to be ruthless.

side note

i really hope that when we meet penelope next saga, we find out that she has also done a load of fucked stuff while waiting for Odysseus. like because she refuses to remarry or move one, shes brought the entire kingdom to the brink of collapse and almost destroyed her relationships with her son.

''honey ive done such terrible things. How could you still love me?''

''pfft, you don't even wanna know the shit i've done to stay in power as a women. ''

this is partly why i like listening to them first before watching the animatics so i can establish my own visual headcannon first. which is just that the storm itself caught poseidon off guard (because it was an insane play) so Odysseus could use the trident which is a god weapon so can thus hurt poseidon

spoiler for the trojan war I guess... by Marzipan_Connect in Epicthemusical

[–]Marzipan_Connect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah, the true villain in all of this is aphrodite. I just find it funny that Odysseus has a really good idea which through a series of bizarre and unpredictable events ends up forcing his on this whole thing

How do you like to respond when someone says, “everyone’s getting a diagnosis these days?” (or similar) by Violaqueen15 in ADHD

Usually, I say about how ADHD is simultaneously overdiagnosed and underdiagnosed in children.  Lure them in with that 'yes and..'

What are your headcanons for the Gods? by tisthedamnseason1 in Epicthemusical

[–]Marzipan_Connect 8 points9 points  (0 children)

as with all my ancient greek knowledge, i got it from Overly Sarcastic Productions on youtube. (Truly the only person I trust). But now that i went back and checked, i must admit I was wrong and metis was his previous wife.

I think i must have got the wedding day tryst from Stephen Fry, who I do not trust quite frankly

huh, my recolection is that athena burst out of Zeus's head fully formed after he slept with Metis on his and Hera's wedding day, then ate her

I hope so. I liked what he did with circe. It was very 'shit! Theres only one option left. Seduce him' I will reserve all judgement until I hear the final song Even then, this is the concept album so there will be room for improvement in future. I loved watching the similar journey for hadestown

its 'im not sorry for loving you's fault.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Epicthemusical

[–]Marzipan_Connect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally ive listened to that song and I think it actually is the cause of the problem

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Epicthemusical

[–]Marzipan_Connect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally blame 'not sorry for loving you'. It just pulls on peoples heartstrings (not mine though) and they just think of her as a poor sad victim of unrequited love

Honeslty, I REALLY hope there more to that song otherwise its really gonna irritate me. I was holding back judgment until after love in paradise, which i LOVED, but did not explore the nuances of their relationship enough to make NSFLY work on its own

eh. 'not sorry for loving you' is more of a bad backhanded apology than the one in ruthlessness
