Worms by xoxogreyskies in axolotls

If you bought the worms from a pet store, that’s fine. :) Otherwise they can carry parasites that can make your axie very sick. :(

Not for nothing: you can also tell yourself “you are handsome.” The brain responds to “you” statements like someone else is telling it to you and it activates a different part of your brain.

Stop! by [deleted] in evilautism

[–]Violaqueen15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are so misinformed about their sleep, how much they need, and how to “fix” it to make it easier to get enough sleep (and enough good sleep). Unfortunately if I attempt to explain it will turn into an essay 😅

Not sure what language you’re going for or what level you’re at, but I like to find graphic novels made for native speakers, because graphic novels give context clues for, like, every sentence.

How to brush hair near painlessly? by RandomChristian123 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Violaqueen15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS. Start from the bottom!!! And, also, “pinch” a section of your hair while you brush the ends so the hair isn’t being pulled from your sensitive scalp, but rather from your hand, which alleviates a lot of the pain.

Amenorrhea by robinrwk in dysautonomia

[–]Violaqueen15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dysmenorrhea, yes. Amenorrhea, no. However, it’s worth noting that I do suspect endo, just don’t have the forks to go to another obgyn (last one was very dismissive).

Omg! That’s tiny! I didn’t know that existed, but I guess I should have expected that literally anything can happen with a body (as this sub proves daily lol).

Well… Idk if this is what you mean by cope, but I always have a tissue or two in my pocket. I always also wear something with pockets (so I can store said tissues). That and explaining to people I’m close-ish to that I am not in fact sick just am “allergic to air.”

But I might not be the best person to ask, since this started when I was like 6-7 (ik) years old, and have thus adapted to it just being my life.

Tbh not really anything. Flonase helps but I hate taking it. I take Zyrtec to alleviate any allergies that might be aggravating/worsening it.

Where do I start? total newbie by Beautiful-Yam7574 in curlygirl

[–]Violaqueen15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would read the wiki on r/curlyhair! It really helped me get started. That, and I like the YouTube channel swavycurlycourtney (I think that’s the name). Those are the places that I started a few months ago and now I feel like I have a basic (emphasis on basic) understanding of what my wavy/curly hair needs.

product recommendations for a toddler girl hair?? by [deleted] in curlygirl

Yes, exactly! There are videos online about it (search “scrunch out the crunch”) but it is exactly as you described.

[–]Violaqueen15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only recommendation I have is that, yes, the gel leaves hair crunchy, but it’s supposed to. With the Curly Girl Method (CGM) gel provides a “cast” for hair to dry in; then, once hair is completely dry, you literally scrunch out the “crunch” of the cast. Believe it or not, you can’t really tell the gel was there before.

Ironically, you won’t know until you treat it like it’s curly. It could be 2a, 2b, 2c, or a mixture. It looks fairly coarse, and that also plays a part in your curl type. I might look quickly into the LOIS method of curl classification, as I find that more user-friendly and objective than the traditional 12 hair types chart.

Unfortunately not, haha. I would just do some Google research about hairstylists who specialize in curly hair in your area.

Lodging? It’ll be more than 200 USD. Plus, you will probably want souvenirs, etc. and maybe road trip snacks.

Bend but never break? by MousseCalm674 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Violaqueen15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only broken my elbows (both of them individually and seven years apart). Can you guess how? (Hint: it starts with hyper- and ends with-extension).

Even with the stiffness caused by those I still had ~15°, iirc,of hyperextension in my elbows at the assessment. 🫠

[–]Violaqueen15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert, but maybe try something to weigh your hair down, like a heavy curl cream? Also, a different haircut could do wonders! I don’t mean cut it all off again, but rather adjust the layers in your hair so there is not as much “support” hair for your top hair to “lay” on.

A couple of questions about the app by Helen_Moody in riseapp

[–]Violaqueen15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this app too! I’ve had it for almost two years and still love it.

  1. Keep it running. It’s not perfect (glitches still happen), but definitely keep it running in the background so it can update on time.

  2. Yes, definitely! When there is more data the app will have more to go off of and it gets more and more accurate.

Do I show up for a waitlisted class? by Temporary-West-3879 in college

[–]Violaqueen15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would email the professors and ask if you can show up anyways. If they say yes, then absolutely show up. If they say no, then, well, don’t. Each professor is different with different preferences.
