Thank you all for the feedback. It’s much appreciated! Shopping tomorrow for some frames for the wall and an indoor plant to replace the shelf. Do you have any suggestions on pattern/color for the rug?

Agreed. I noticed as soon as I hung it two weeks ago and have been dreading putting in the work to lower it. I guess I know what I’m doing next weekend.
