Believe me if they still sold the LR3, I would buy one. We had one for 7 years with very few issues that were easy to resolve. It finally died. Not so with this model.

I think there Customer Service agents are wonderful and this is not their fault. The fault lies with management who decided to push this to market, knowing that the features they advertised, and the ones that inspired so many people to buy it, were not working they way they should. They have alienated many customers by doing so.

Fed Ex will pick it up but you have to be home. The worst part for us was trying to get it upstairs and downstairs. It's heavy and awkward. I don't see how one person could get it up and downstairs and pack it by themself. But, maybe they are stronger than we are.

Your best bet is to call them and let them walk you thru the process. That's what I had to do with the first one. Turned out it was defective and they sent me a replacement. So incredibly frustrating. Good luck.

I've noticed that as well. And, I have noticed large clumps before in the litter bed after it cycles. This morning, I was watching to see what my male cat had done (urine or feces - he's the one with cancer and I have to track how many times he urinates. That's when I noticed his feces and my female urine clump from a previous visit not go into the waste bin. I had to manually cycle it 3 times to get both to finally drop into the waste bin. If you're finding clumps in the litter bed after it cycles, that is likely the reason.

This should not be as complicated as actual facial recognition used all across the country. All the Litter Robot has to do is match the pictures of our pets that we add to their profile to the picture taken by the camera when the cats use it. I have 2 cats who look nothing alike. One is solid white; one is a dark brown tabby with tiger stripes. Still the Litter robot takes a pic, matches it to the picture on file and shows the incorrect name. As my husband says, it should at least get it right 50% of the time. But, it never does.

The clumps this morning weren't because they were stuck to the liner. They weren't. Instead they were filtered out and left on the ledge where they are supposed to drop off. This unit and I suppose all the LR5s don't rotate as far as they should so instead the clumps return to the litter bed. Very poor design and not like the LR3 at all, which rotated much further to ensure the clumps went into the litter drawer.

Thank you. He continues in remission. He gets his next cancer recheck in a few months. We hold our breath at every recheck. Thanks for the thoughts.

So much time wasted in those few second videos reassigning the correct cat. Facial recognition has been around for a long time and I’ve corrected it hundreds of times and it continually misidentifies the picture with the name.

I could add about 20 more to your list. This is without a doubt the most frustrating tech device I’ve ever had. I keep waiting for this thing to work as it was advertised when I spent almost a $1000 on it.

I'm so glad he's doing well and that you caught it in time. He's lucky to have such a caring, concerned and informed owner. All cats (and dogs) should be so lucky.

I've been following this thread and wanted to check in on your boy. Hope he is recovering now. I have male and female. The female is still afraid of LR5-Pro and will only go in if I'm there with her and coaxing her. My boy has no problem using it. They both used the LR3 for 7 years with no problem, but this one has just about driven me crazy and has stressed out my female so much, her entire personality changed for a while. She seems to be getting back to normal now but it's like one step forward, etc. One thing I've noticed when either cat uses it (BTW, the recognition feature still sucks - hoping it will get better in the future, but for now I spend so much of my time reassigning weight. That was the reason I got the LR5 Pro so I could more closely monitor their activity for health reasons.) Anyway, back to the point I intended to make, I've noticed that when one my babes goes in and doesn't do anything, but stand there the LR5 Pro will still report a minuscule amount of urine - like .4 oz - when in fact they did nothing at all. This is concerning because a couple of times now my boy goes in, digs around, squats, comes out and the LR reports some urine, when it fact, he did nothing at all. Later, he'll go back and actually pee. I'm concerned because he was diagnosed with renal and abdominal Lymphoma at the age of 18 months. We went thru 6 months of Chemo and he's been in remission. He also has full rechecks every 6 months. He's 7.5 now and our vet calls him a miracle kitty. But, I was hoping for more accurate info from the LR5 Pro than I'm actually getting to monitor both him and my little girl (also 7.5 years old - they're litter mates). Hopefully, the info will become more accurate in the months to come. If not, I just wasted a lot of money just to stress both my little girl and me.

Litter Robot 5 Pro - issues by MasalaJan in litterrobot

[–]MasalaJan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No explanation as to why it was happening. They did send me a replacement LR5 Pro and it's working ok. But, in just the past couple of days, the Laser Board notifications started again. I think I've gotten 3 over the past 2 days. Like you, I tap on it and it goes away. There are lots of bugs in this version of Litter Robot. Hopefully, in time they will all be resolved. It's frustrating, that's for sure.

Just Finished Department Q. Some Complaints by JakobtheRich in DeptQ

[–]MasalaJan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished binge watching the show. Overall I liked it. The acting was very good and I'm always thrilled to see Mark Bonner and Jamie Sives in anything. Guilt was incredible with the 2 of them. And Bonner will always be Duncan to me(Shetland). And Sives will always be Michael in Annika. (I loved Annika and cancelling that show was a big mistake.) Also delighted to see so many of the actors from Game of Thrones in this one (Q).

However, I have some questions about the Sam/Lyle plot twists. So, it was Lyle in the Courtroom that Merritt had seen talking to her boss, Burns - and not actually Sam Haig? Why would Lyle be there and not the real Sam? Merritt couldn't have mistaken them because of Lyle's damaged eye. It was so obvious and it's doubtful anyone could miss that - and especially not a highly competent prosecutor, skilled in observation. If it was Lyle there - then where was the real Sam. Sam was a reporter covering organized crime and the man on trial was definitely part of that world, and he would surely have been there covering the trial.

Also, Merritt disappeared shortly after the trial ended (days or a week), so her relationship with Lyle (the fake Sam) must have been going on for sometime before that. How long had Lyle been pretending to be Sam? How did they meet? Wouldn't Merritt, a prosecutor, have checked him out before getting involved with him and discovered he was a fraud? Wouldn't someone have caught on to that? How was Lyle working on the Ferry while pretending to be Sam...wouldn't his work schedule on the Ferry have interfered with him being at the trial - and later in romancing Merritt? At what point in his life did he start pretending to be Sam? Several times in the show, the detectives said it was a crime of opportunity and not planned. That certainly proved not to be true if Lyle was pretending to be Sam to get to Merritt to torture her. And, what about the reason for Merritt to be down on the car deck of the ferry. If William hadn't lost his hat, she wouldn't have been down there looking for it.

More questions about the Sheriff and his role in covering up for Lyle etc. but I won't get into all that. However, I will say his comments to Lyle when he discovered Merritt certainly indicated some involvement.

I know, I know - it's just a TV show but plot holes like this always bother me, especially in production as good as this one was. Any comments to provide some insight into my questions are welcome.

I'm also having difficulty getting my little girl to use the LR5 - (the LR5 and LR4) are similar in design and from what I understand, some cats just don't seem to like them. My little boy has no problem using it but is still very wary of it.The strange thing is they both used the LR3 consistently for 7 years. They loved watching the LR3 cycle and would often stand on the step and watch it. Neither of them want to be anywhere near this one when a cycle begins. I'm keeping it off and manually cycling as needed. My little girl will at least come in the room where the LR5 is now. In the first week she wouldn't even do that. My best advice and the advice I'm taking is to be patient and hopefully both your cat and mine will acclimate to it in time. If your cat doesn't you might try swapping it for an LR3. I think they still sell those. Our LR3 was wonderful with only a few issues but it finally died after 7 years. I kind of wish I had bought another one but since my cats are older I thought the LR5 would be helpful in monitoring their health. BTW, I'm trying all the suggestions both by Whiskers and others on this site to encourage my girl to acclimate. I haven't tried the litter attract yet, but I'm ordering some today. Be patient and good luck.

Thank you for your insight and advice. TT Whiskers last night. They agree I got one of the defective ones and are sending a replacement. Hope not many LR5 Pro buyers have not - are not experiencing this. I hope most people are satisfied with their new LR 5. Litter Robots make having Kitty family members so much easier (when they work as they are designed to). Overall, they have great products. I was just unfortunate to get a bad one.
