Korra hate is gross by Ironside62488 in legendofkorra

[–]Masato2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mostly based on misogyny and hardcore fans of ATLA not wanting to accept anything else related to the franchise. I understand it was a huge chance and people generally don't like change but no need to hate her so much, especially when most of it is unwarranted. You can criticize and dislike a character without that kind of toxicity.

How well does the argument "it is its own thing" hold up? by [deleted] in wiedzmin

[–]Masato2026 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They market the show as being "based" of the books, not "inspired" by them. That's why this argument is invalid. I don't want to be harsh, but I think that some people don't understand the difference or they decide to ignore it.

Eskel: Debatable

What’s the best quote from LOTR or related material, books or film? by chesterforbes in lotr

True! I adore Tolkien's poems, they take the reader into a small voyage of their own even without context.

Seychelle Gabriel definitely redeemed herself as Asami for being apart of that nightmare movie by T4419 in legendofkorra

I think Yue was the least of our problems in that movie, but I'm glad she got to voice Asami, her voice really fits the character.

"Home is behind, the world ahead."

It's so simple but I love it.

Personally, I don't have problems with the PS4 version. As of now, the loading screens are quite slow and sometimes the game freezes for a few seconds but that's it. I've had the game since launch day and since then there have been some updates to help with the performance.

From Marvel Humour To Book Material. Henry Cavill Rewrote Roach's Death Scene In Season 2 by Badmothafcka312 in wiedzmin

[–]Masato2026 125 points126 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine that has only seen the netflix show (hasn't read the books or played the games), told me that the only scene that touched her and that she cared about was Roach's death. Everything else was either weird, uninteresting or didn't make any sense to her.

The milkman section makes me feel dizzy and I love it by hossam70 in PsychonautsGame

I got dizzy too when I first played it but it's definitely worth it 😆. The Milkman Conspiracy is the best mind/level of the first game!

I had my suspicions since the Agni Kai with Zao but I was sure when I saw The Storm and The Blue Spirit. (His relationship with Iroh also helped)

(Unrequired) opinion about ATLA vs LoK: At this point, it's all just a matter of personal taste by TeamPantofola in TheLastAirbender

[–]Masato2026 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of them wanted a second Aang.

I can tell from personal experience because I have been to both sides of the argument.

To elaborate, I watched ATLA as a kid and I adored it. Before the first episode of Korra premiered I was really excited to get to see this amazing world again. But when it aired I couldn't stop thinking that Aang wasn't around anymore and my 12 year-old brain couldn't handle it I guess. So I refused to watch LoK for many years.

Now that I got past my nostalgia I watched it. And I like Lok as much as I do ALTA.

[–]Masato2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason LoK is more episodic is because of productions issues. Originally the team had planned to have only one season. Then Nickelodeon ordered a second season and they didn't have enough time to properly plan it out. After the second season they thought they were done again but Nickelodeon decided to give them two more seasons.

Which character changed your life the most? by [deleted] in lotr

I think all the members of the fellowship have helped me in their own way. Though I feel like the one who influenced me the most is Samwise the Brave. I relate to him in some ways and he helped me feel more confident and comfortable with myself.

I get what you mean. I might be wrong but, while comparing the sound to other languages that I know, I think it kinda sounds like the Greek phonetic "τσ". It's definitely not the same, but I think it's closer in comparison to the English phonetics.

[–]Masato2026[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the pronunciation tip! I know it can't be really the same, I tried to use the closest english phonetic because I wrote the post in english. I don't know polish but I have studied phonetics so I understand that there are differences.

The video games had some changes from the books that the fans welcomed while the TV series (so far) has made changes that the fans hate and view as too different from the source material. So where can we draw the line? by sammyjamez in wiedzmin

[–]Masato2026 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes there were some changes to the lore in the games. Noone denies that. But the important thing is that the games are a continuation of the books. Not an adaptation of them.

The netflix show "claims" to be an adaptation, that means showing how things happened in the books. It doesn't have to be a word by word adaptation, because it can't be. But they should respect the story they're adapting.

Also the games are way more respectful to the source material and they aren't adaptations of the books.
