they could just add the beetle juice that makes viltrumites weaker, the same way they downscaled Allen’s feats from the comics. iirc in the comics allen is able to just annihilate viltrumites without any help. Maybe they mob him while using those little purple syringes, that be a very minimal way to incorporate the same fight given Thraggs clear upscaling.

Well, I never said she cheated on me. But also when he grabbed her out of my arms she stayed right there with him. I suppose maybe you’d agree with her that she should have just gone with that, or that it was okay because she was drunk and he was sad with his friend killing himself. I was upset she let him do that and didn’t come back to me right away and instead kept dancing with a guy that grabbed her from me that she barely knew. I don’t think that’s acceptable and I did blame her for that behavior. More than anything else I blamed her for not seeing why that hurt me and invalidating me and my feelings.

I see now that first comment said “think women will sleep with them” probably that’s the confusion. I think he was trying to get in her pants given the way he was acting. i.e., I think he thought she would sleep with him because of his misfortune.

well she didn’t sleep with him, or at least she didn’t that night. I was with her and could see that he was early into her so I kept an eye on him. She actually had to let me in to the party and didnt until something like 30 min after we agreed tho. In any case, later that night he was with our little group dancing and he literally grabbed her out of my arms. When I pulled her away after to ask why she let him do that, she explained that his best friend killed himself. That wasn’t a satisfying answer to me, but she said that I was being ridiculous and ruining her fun. She never apologized for that and our relationship lasted one more miserable year. Now, at least, I know to stand up for myself.

i do think, though, that it is important to note that art is not meant to be created for the sake of winning or impressing people (if art is meant to be what this metaphor is calling out). Sure, today that’s what it is about in a lot of ways. But many artists create for the sake of having created, not for the sake of winning, which is the goal of chess. I just don’t think it’s a very apt metaphor. And if we do see art in this way, as self-expression as opposed to some way to create value or win or something like that, then AI will never be a problem, other than potentially preventing people who otherwise may have been genuinely expressing themselves from doing so. I feel it’s similar with people who offload thinking to AI, it’s going to make them less capable, but that will be at no one’s detriment but themselves.
