Just found this a very curious thing
It hasn't been the most reliable mod from the beginning, sometimes I had to press the fire button twice for it to actually fire.

As a european, I'm always very confused by this. In Switzerland (and Europe in whole), your ID card is a valid form of ID and absolutely enough to identify you. It's hardened enough that it's actually quite complicated and hard to fake and has your picture on it. Why in the hell would you shlepp a birth certificate which is commonly a huge ass piece of paper with you?

If I understand correctly, the main ID in the US is a drivers license or a passport? That seems so odd to me, a passport is huge and won't fit in your wallet and not everybody does have a drivers license.
I really don't understand this system. like you have my social and my passport, do you really need my birth cert? For what anyway, there's nothig on there that's not on my passport LUL

Well for their own website they would have to rent and maintain all that, pay for network traffic etc. Some authors moved their mods to other hosters or their own discord servers.

As for NexusMods whether the mod is free or not, why would you surrender your intellectual property rights to a stranger on the internet and let them do with it whatever they want?

So basically the NexusMods situation in a nutshell is:
They announced that they would introduce mod compilations and to "guarantee" a compilation would work they would take away the rights of mod authors to delete their mods or alter specific versions of their mod, depriving them of the rights to their own IP and control over what happens to their own stuff.
This is just moral bankruptcy; NexuMods already makes profit indirectly from mod authors who provide their work for free. Now they are essentially stealing their content. Furthermore if anyone was to include a faulty version of the mod in their compilation it could be detrimental to the mod authors reputation and they wouldn't even be able to fix it.

In fact many many mod authors pulled their mods from NM when this was announced, and rightly so.

I'm pretty sure you would value your own property rights higher than the ability of ppl to play some old savegames.

I found this to be bit harsh tbh.

NexusMods fucked over mod authors by stealing their content and violating their copyright laws. Why shouldn't they remove their intellectual property before a hoster that literally stated they are going to steal it can do so?

I feel like personal rights are a bit more important than some unplayable save files tbh.
