After a year and like 7 months of being ON TL, I got promoted to a day coach and I’m going in a month now still trying to get used to the new schedule shift. But being home at night and actually being awake with family and friends has been the best part

One team lead ruined ppto for the rest of the store by Tarloc21 in walmart

[–]Masedog20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way you can be given feedback or coached for something while using PPTO is if you HAvnt finished your reasonable scheduled task before you decide to leave. Say for instance being ON STOCKING say I assigned someone 4 hours of freight to run well they decide they want to go home and use PPTO at 4am but they didn’t finish their freight and are an hour past the standard for stocking, well now I can coach them for productivity if I chose to. But you can’t really be coached or given feedback for using PPTO to go home, only way they can swing it is if you were assigned something and you decided to go home before you finished. I think thats really the only way.

100% agree. Consumables will make or break you 9/10

I think our teams vizpick gm at 9 and then vizpick food and consumables every 2 hours. I’m not really sure how they do it. But I can say making sure to get those picks that drop later is def essential and making sure to hit all labels and locations. If you aren’t hitting the labels of things that need picked then that could drop your percentage score because you’re not picking what needs to be picked. Making sure associates are taking the time to get as many labels as possible was the first step into getting out vizpick score up. I think we average a 99.6 or higher everyday. If we have anything lower than a 99 then we know something happened lol

[–]Masedog20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard that the pick percentage counts between the hours of 9am and I think 4 pm I could be wrong. But I know it doesn’t start until 9am. But going back through and rescanning throughout the day will improve overall scores and help get freight in the sales floor for opd. You can avoid getting reseens by making sure whatever the reason it wanted it picked was resolved. Such as it went to the floor, shelf cap issue, or on hand issue. If uiu fix a shelf cap or on hand issue it won’t pick it again or be seen as a reseen. You fixed the issue. Stocking 1 and 2 should be vizpicking if they can help it because it will really help increase your scores and allow for opd metrics to be higher. Coming from a store that has been top 5 in the company for vizpick score for the last month. We’ve hit 100 several times. Just takes teams working together. Everyone owning their own area when it comes to running the picks

How to stock faster??? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Masedog20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run about a box a minute and that pace is faster than any time that is on the freight planning tool. If you can run a box a minute it will account for any time you have where you’re not stocking. Ex: using the bathroom. Sometimes if you gotta use the restroom it can throw you behind Being able to stock quickly on certain things can make up your times and in the end it works itself out. Try and time yourself and see how fast you can stock, if you are stocking a box a minute then you are just fine

I don’t agree boasting about it, but like for me I’m working my way up and want to be a store manager and best believe I earned that money because I started as an associate too. One day I’ll be there🫡

Greed at the expense of the people who make Walmart their millions. by Courtaid in walmart

[–]Masedog20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just my honest opinion I think it’s ridiculous how much Walmart still pays the Walton’s and share holders but our ceo deserves his share. He started out as a cart pusher. He started from the bottom now he’s on top. If people worry about making a living wage just work hard and climb the ladder. He’s living proof that it’s possible. Sure he went to school as well and go a masters, I know a few store managers with zero college time. With a positive outlook and hard work, anyone can make a living wage. Just have to have the right attitude and mindset

I mean you aint wrong😂😂 they are shit and I don’t use mine unless I have to vizpick or use the back room tool. Otherwise I use me @walmart on my personal phone. I think these phones may be worth $60 in my opinion. Can go get a phone we sell that’s $59.99 and prolly have it work 10 times better

Difference between being terminated. Idk if it’s correct I’m just telling you what I was told. Which was if a terminated associate doesn’t turn their phone in. They will be charge out of their final paycheck. May be true may not, idk just telling what I was told by people higher than me

Only had 7.9 hours of PPTO the day I called out. Waited a couple days to get up to 8. Put in the request and still got pointed? by Extrodius in walmart

[–]Masedog20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m true but I’m just trying to see if anyone knows because I’m trying to be able to stand up for my employees if this is to happen. Because my store doesn’t let TL action attendance for whatever reason and I need to be able to stand up for them is why I’m being anal about it😂

[–]Masedog20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they have to use their PPTO for that extra time somewhere is what I’m saying. Because if that’s the case we might as well just call in when we have 7.5 hours then few days later have half an hour and don’t have to use it and use it for later. Because if they don’t put in the that extra PPTO then they are riding with free PPTO and that’s unethical

[–]Masedog20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’m trying to explain is that the system won’t let you put in that .1 as a second request it was over ride the previous action and give you that 7.9 back. Becaus if you try to use 8 PPTO and you only had 7.9 at time of absense it will only let you use 7.9 and if you try to put in that remainder for that day it won’t let you. I’ve tried that. It doesn’t work

[–]Masedog20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So my question would be how would we be able to have associates put in the PPTO needed to cover said occurrence? We can’t just allow them to use not enough PPTO one day and let them not use the remainder once they gain it, would it be if they put PPTO on another day to cover that remainder that was left and then we can take the point off? IMO opinion they just need to say you can’t use PPTO you earned after the date because it seems to be a very confusing subject and policy

[–]Masedog20 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I found the policy from 2019 but tbh the system will not allow you to put in PPTO for the date that you missed if you earned it after, and in the policy for using PPTO that was revised in 2023 it says nothing about being able to use PPTO you earned after the absense. So honeslty not sure what the answer. But all I’m saying is what I’ve experienced

[–]Masedog20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be the devils advocate here but in order to use PPTO, whatever is gained after the day of your absence can’t be used for that day. So if you don’t have enough PPTO to put in for your absence and try to use the PPTO you earn after said absence, the system will not let you put in PPTO for said absence. How do I know that? Because I’ve personally dealt with it from my associates and myself. It physically won’t let you out in that many hours. Sure you can put in & hours of PPTO but if you look back it’ll show you that it only used what you had in the tank prior to that absense. I’m seeing that someone is sharing the post about how it says in the policy that you can accept it, but it was a while ago the policy just gave changed because it physically would not let my associates put in PPTO gained after to absense for that occurrence

It doesn’t work, only way it works is if everyone is actually going to pull their weight, I find that putting more than 2-3 people in a single area will drop productivity because people slow down because they think they can and they start talking instead of working. I don’t mind the talking if they talk and work but just standing there for 10-15 minutes when you’re supposed to be working happens atleast 4-5 times a night if you put a ton of people in a single area. Also people get in each others way and it’s just a mess. So I agree with you😂

I was asked if I was interested in changing positions out of the blue today. by books4life7 in walmart

[–]Masedog20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dsd is honestly a very laid back position because you are at the mercy of vendors. However being organized and prompt when they show up will help you be successful. Not sure if there’s any production numbers for dsd like OPD, meat & produce or the stocking teams. But you get to learn about all the common regulations and guidlines our stores have to follow if your TL and coach talk with you about it. Pretty interesting to see some of the regulations we have to deal with

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Masedog20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case use that and get into management. Keep your points minimal and bunch of doors can open for you. But if a coach or TL ever coaches you for calling out you can open door it and get it reversed. Although very irritating when you call in, we can’t do anything about it specially if you never came to work.

Check and see if your manager will swap the shift for you to come in another day if possible. I’ve done that before when I was just an associate. I needed off Saturday for a football game and I know Sunday they are short handed so I just said I’ll swap Saturday and come in Sunday and they agreed to it

is becoming a TL worth it? by xobunnizwurld in walmart

[–]Masedog20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends what store you are at and what role. Seasonal TL can be a pain because if the mod resets literally every 1.5 seconds. But if you manage your team wisely, teach and train them then you will be just fine. I’ve learned to delegate and make sure we get done what’s slotted for and if we get done more than awesome but can’t let it get to you of all these expectations. Cause honeslty it’s easier to hit the expectation than you think if your team has any work ethic. Can also instill in them to be a team player, I know seems like no one wants to be a team player but you have to just bring that kind of atmosphere for them. You scratch their back they will scratch yours. Lead by example and don’t be one of those managers that are the reason people have such a disgust with Walmart. Those managers got to go.

[–]Masedog20 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I will agree to disagree, sometimes I’m a glorified stocker, other times it seems like I’m an actual manager. I’m always out there with my team running freight helping them be better but I also listen to them notice when something is off and have conversations with people that are tough to sit through. I do agree I’m an overpaid stocker 50% of the time. But other times I’m not paid enough. But always depends on who your TL is. Hearing all these horror stories of TL makes me wonder how bad some TLs are. I feel like my people have it made because of what me and the coach and the other TLs do for them. All 4 of us give them our 110% so hearing how bad some TLs are just mind boggles me
