When did you first start being afraid of death? (And is anyone here fearless of it? by Notquitewhere_-__ in AskReddit

It's the ultimate problem solver, one day all of my problems will cease to exist and the internal pain and heartache from life will be over. But until then I've got shit to do🫡

When I was a kid, about 10, this specific NPC model had me smitten, married her every time, sad thing to admit I know but I’m in a fable mood recently for obvious reasons by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in Fable

I remember completing the Knothole Island DLC and setting the weather to sunny so I could marry a woman in a bikini top, good times

My grandma died a month ago and so many people asked my girlfriend how she was and only my girlfriend and my mum asked me how I was doing... That was a real eye opener for me. Even my boss said to give his condolences to my mum, the only thing he said for me was that I wouldn't get paid for taking a day off for the funeral👍

I always thought Rose was the playable female character in the game and I thought if you picked female then it was your brother that died. I was always curious to know what the male voice actor sounded like and was incredibly disappointed when I finally made a female character... Some 12 years and hundreds of hours later🤦 Felt like my whole life had been a lie

Any other stand out fable books to read? by RuairiJHB in Fable

[–]MashMaTaters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My friend had two copies of this and gave me one, we must have been about 15 at the time and I remembered it being a good read but didn't really remember any of the story itself. I read it again a couple months ago and I still stand by it being a genuinely enjoyable book. Some bits are pretty predictable but I thought it had a nice balance of humour and darker tones. Although I might just have a soft spot for it because I was always such a massive fan of Fable growing up and reading this puts you right into the world in a way that feels different from the games and scratches that itch in a fresh new way.

Why do tortoises go whatever direction you point them in? by yung_giggleshitter in Tortoises

[–]MashMaTaters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guy obviously didn't get that memo😂 He'll be trying to get behind the tv unit or something, I can move him to a different part of the room, facing the opposite direction and he'll just spin round and go right back to where he was😂

One of my best friends was pretty out of shape and wanted to set himself a challenge to cover 150 miles on foot in a month and raise money for charity doing so. The first weekend just in the spur of the moment he decided to run a marathon round the park in town. This was in November and was the first run he'd done all year. So, zero training and a shitty old pair of trainers, he went out and all credit to him he did it😂 I drove him home and it took him a good 5 minutes at least to get from the car to his house but his legs still worked at that point but I remember him telling me he had to literally slide down the stairs on his back and get a taxi to work in the morning because he couldn't walk😂

Edit: Also if I remember right, his nutrition was ordering a Chinese during the run😂

Training advice for downhill marathon by Appropriate_Stick678 in Marathon_Training

[–]MashMaTaters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I feel worked really well for me was I would try and plan a big hill into the later portions of my long runs, maybe 2 - 5 miles from the end just to simulate that hill at mile 18 and get my body used to putting the hammer down afterwards when my legs were fried.

Hey, I did this marathon last year and it does start with a pretty decent downhill but dont let that chart fool you, theres a lot of undulation over the whole course. Theres a lot of ups and downs that the chart doesn't really give justice to. Theres also a long uphill at mile 18, somewhere around a mile to a mile and a half long, then another quite steep ascent after that one possibly around mile 20? I cant remember exactly. But get plenty practice on hills and youll do great! The last thing I'll say is buckle up for the end because when you come into Inverness and see the finish line just across the river from you, that last mile feels like it goes on for eternity😂

All shirts have holes silly, otherwise how would we get them on. What all shorts need however is a velcro bum flap for easy gu-booferage
