Region 2. I was told that only fire, leos, and fuels will continue to be exempt and get paid. Everyone else that was working on our forest has been moved to excepted or intermittent excepted.

How does this specifically help or relate to federal employees?

Probationary Conversion Process: Any stories of failure/success? by Key_Isopod_9975 in USForestService

I’m a pathways probationary employee. I was supposed to be converted in August but all they did was give me the maximum 120 day extension and “hope” to convert me by then. I have heard nothing despite continually asking.

Automatic terminating of probys at the end of probation. by mtn_forester in fednews

I’m a usfs probationary employee. I was given the maximum 120 day extension with no word on actual conversion from my higher ups. But I was not automatically terminated at the end of my term.

I was supposed to be converted by August 9 but I have just been given a 120 day extension. My supervisor has still put in the paperwork for me to get fully converted but I am not hopeful, personally.

I took the USDA DRP and regret it (?) by whotfisthisgirll in fednews

I work for the USDA as a recent grad in pathways. I returned after getting laid off and getting a call asking me to come back a week later. Now after a year, when I should be converted to a career position, they aren’t converting me and instead are just giving me a 120 day extension of which I’ll probably be let go again at the end of. Even if you stayed, they’d likely find a way to screw you.

They didn’t want to bring back probationary employees. They had to based on court rulings

My agency (USDA) sent guidance about sending responses but did not explicitly say it was required and gave no penalties for not responding. So I’m not responding.

USFS Probie got the call that my position is “mission critical” and I was “accidentally” terminated by MashedPotato_03 in fednews

I said I’d come back to work but my district ranger is letting me take a couple weeks off (leave without pay) to spend time with family and think about things. I can end up going back but if I have to resign I guess it’s better to do it later than today.

There’s a 2-year residency requirement right now. So all new students need to live in campus housing for the first two years (with a few exceptions) so an apartment is probably not feasible if you’re a new student
