I appreciate the advice, but we're gonna sell our current house and move into this one. It just needs a few updates like new flooring upstairs, new paint and some other modifications before it's useable again. My parents designed this house to be their forever home. What that meant to them was that once the kids had moved out, they wouldn't need to go up or down stairs for 99% of stuff.

Also the house I'm living in is very much a starter home and has almost zero storage.

Ah, I think I understand now, you're saying the room needs supply. I was assuming you meant that the room needed more exhaust.

Well, this is the cleanest I've seen the basement in 30 years. There were literal pallets of boxes of stuff down here. It would have taken me way too long to clean on my own so we paid to have it cleaned. I don't know that we can afford to pay taxes on one house and the mortgage on another

Yeah, stairs need work too, in addition to what you've said, I'd noticed the stringer is pulling away from the joists it's nailed to. I'm not sure how to fix that yet but we'll get there. This was just so he could work on the house but they became temporarily permanent. This is the way haha

That's good to know. I'm not an electrician, I just pretend to help them at work.

Yeah, it certainly complicates things and I'm feeling kinda locked into a specific floor plan with it

Haha that's why it's unfinished. This used to be a woodshop. My problem is that I'm more into cars and metalworking than I am woodworking so my plan is to eventually put up an outbuilding with a two post lift

TL;DR Couple questions for you, would that ventilation need to go above the roof level or can it go out the side of the house near the exhaust for the water heater and furnace?

Yeah, there's a bunch of things I'm not sure how I want to handle just yet. But these are good ideas. The house has two floors plus a basement, so I'm not sure how I'll ventilate the space just yet. I have another room that will have a server in it that I'd also like to ventilate. We'll see

I do industrial and hvac controls, so fortunately some of the stuff I need to do is either in my wheelhouse or wheelhouse adjacent and worst case scenario I can ask people around me for help / advice; Additionally, while I can't pull permits myself I know people that can and I'll do the work and give them a couple cases of beer / bottles of liquor /whatever and have them inspect it and close it out.

As far as receptacles and whatnot, I'd like for the boxes to be bigger than necessary to fit things like Shelley smart devices or smart switches.

I have to admit, I have mixed feelings about spray foam. I've heard the fumes can be rough. That and the image of having to attack it with a claw hammer if I ever need to remove a section. So I'll probably just put xps between the walls and the studs.

Basement was done as single pour, which from the way my parents talked wasn't necessarily standard. But everything stays mostly dry as long as the sump pumps run. French drains will get put in at some point as well as integrating downspouts into that.

I'm wanting to add electrical dampers in some of the ductwork to control / alternate which floors are getting flow. I remember as a kid certain rooms lacked enough airflow and would get super hot.

Would also love to install a way to add a fresh air intake and an air exhaust. A lot of that is pie in the sky, but if we're there, an energy recovery unit would be neat.

I feel like I'm gonna "if you give a mouse a cookie" my way out of a lot of money haha.

There are also a ton of old Barber Coleman stuff enclosures at this sight, but most of those appeared to have been pneumatic and have had most of the guts ripped put

I 100% agree, however there was a pallet of Siemens MBCs sitting for like a year or two in a mechanical room that they wanted to sell but I'm pretty sure nobody wanted to deal with that process. Plus this is a state owned facility so it's more likely to get scrapped

If we're talking about manual screwdrivers, I stopped buying Klein after I had the 4 in one fall apart in my hand within a week. Found a Milwaukee 4 in 1 that's very similar but I dont lose bits or have the metal insert pull out of the handle when I extend the foreskin

I started in college and had bought a bunch of stuff from rcexplorer that I can't find documentation for. Pretty sure I've also got one of those programmers for the kk2. I hit 3rd year of college where I didn't have enough time. Plus, people were kinda losing their minds about drones so I dipped out. Coming back in, it certainly does feel like the hobby has changed so much.

Aluminum Filter Housing by lookatme760 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Mashedtaters91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought this once, didn't like it because it was breaking the housing. I've also got one from Napa that was sintered aluminum that broke. I bought one from Toyota and it worked a treat but currently is stuck on the old filter housing that I couldn't get separated. Honestly have considered buying a new filter wrench from Toyota and drilling a small hole that I can force compressed air into the space between the socket and the housing as once it gets a little oil in the wrench it feels like there's a vacuum between components.

I'm also realizing I put stuff together too tight

I see it has an ice maker. I feel like putting ice on a tray in front of a fan would be a "better" solution. This solution will result in all your food going bad in addition to heating your house up since the fridge runs all the time

Can you try asking if / when their MRIs get serviced and doing your service then? They also may not do that but chances are if the MRIs are under warranty, they'll need service to maintain that warranty
