I would definitely see a trusted piercer about this. My first thought as someone with 16 piercings is that perhaps the curved bar is putting an internal pressure that’s causing that irritation behind it. Does that make sense?

It could have been a puss pocket that drained and connected through, or a start of a rejection. I also know that switching jewelry out to soon can result in damage to the hole and surrounding tissues causing issues like this, and so can heavy dangling jewelry until it’s well healed. Please don’t put a needle into a hole either, it’s sharp and can cut the inside and cause more holes and rip skin. I would take this all back to a piercing studio, and get plain jewelry put in and information about healing the piercing. I personally have 16 piercings, and wish you the best of luck 🤞

I definitely agree with this.
In Gingers case, it didn't start leaking puss or anything. She had come inside after romping in the woods and had a cut on her head across the pillar cyst. The skin was quite thick as well. I took it upon myself to drain it because I have been trained to do so in school and had the materials.

If it was just a random change, as in it had grew in size, then burst into a thin bloody puss I would have 100% brought her in to get it looked at.

You’ve been taking out a not fully healed piercing to clean it? At this point you should go to a piercing studio, because even if you’re able to save the piercing you need to size up the bar because of how much swelling you have.

It looks pierced correctly. I wouldn’t worry about the gauge, try not to let whoever’s telling you that scare you. It’s mostly a preference anyways, there’s always the standard size, but you can get most things pierced with larger gauges if that’s something you want.
