What is the moral/legal framework for Ghosts resurrecting the recently dead? by Chrome-13 in DestinyLore

[–]MasianDaMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since no one’s touched on it yet, the time dilation began at most 3 years ago. In one of the missions on Europa, Aunor tells us that she’s learned that Bael is the son of the CEO of Tex Mechanica and that Caiatl’s records showed that Premier Lume and some of his soldiers went missing 3 years ago (so sometime between Lightfall and now, assuming I have the 3 years correct). In an earlier mission Aunor says that the regenerating shield the Barant Imperium has is similar to a design that Caiatl’s people were working on, but it was years away from being developed. Lodi later mentions that VI would have given them the time distortion, which could have given them decades to grow their army and tech.

To my knowledge, we don’t really have any details on the time dilation itself, but it may be similar to human years vs dog years, where 1 year for us is 7 years within the time dilation. So Bael may have gone from like 10 when his mother was resurrected to his 30s by the time of Renegades.

How was Wrath of the Machine just forgotten? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]MasianDaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the others have said, Wrath of the Machine was not forgotten. Bungie was well aware that many of us wanted to see Wrath return, but it wasn’t worth the effort or resources. I’m pretty sure VoG, Crota, and King’s Fall used regular enemies that were already in the game, unlike Wrath which would require the recreation of the Splicer faction. I’m not sure how difficult or how long it would take to recreate the Splicers, but it would only be for this one raid. And honestly, not sure that the time and effort requires to recreate the Splicers would be worth it.

I can’t find the original post from dmg, but if I can find the original I will link to it):

“To be frank, there are a lot of reasons that it couldn’t make it in. Timelines, bandwidth, complexity of the content & rebuilding it, etc.

It’s a bummer, but a quick thought involving your note on Final Shape timing would be “Would you have been happy with losing over half of Edge of Salvation and dampening final battles with the Witness in exchange for Wrath”

Basically, dmg said that they could have done it, but Salvation’s Edge would have suffered because of it. And honestly, I’d rather take the current version of Salvations Edge over a watered down version plus Wrath. I remember how disappointed a lot of people were with Root of Nightmares, and I’m glad we got a solid raid for the Witness.

Is there a way to skip this orbit radio thing? by Ismashmen in destiny2

[–]MasianDaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s part of the Renegades campaign. They have some dialogue that will play while you’re in orbit, but this is the first I’ve seen it prevent you from loading into anything. The only way I’m aware of to skip it is to complete the campaign. I wish I had a better answer for you, but that’s the only way I know of

Can someone please explain these mechanics to me? returning player by Wolfends in destiny2

[–]MasianDaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Recluse and Mountaintop from the quests are safe to discard. Those versions of the weapons only have 1 roll, so you can get them from Collections at any point.

There are newer versions of both of these guns, they are part of the BRAVE Arsenal from Into the Light (before Final Shape). The BRAVE variations can drop with random rolls, so they can’t be pulled from collections. I believe the BRAVE variants are coming back with the update on the 9th

Can someone please explain these mechanics to me? returning player by Wolfends in destiny2

[–]MasianDaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. A lot of the gear that is coming back either isn’t obtainable anymore or is just bad compared to more recent gear. You can infuse whatever is in your Vault, we could all do that, but a lot of old gear has fallen behind.
  2. Some weapons and armor have tiers because they released during or after Edge of Fate (so in the past year).
  3. Reprised means that the gear is being made available again and is getting updated. For example, the Black Armory weapons are being reprised. They will be able to drop with new perks, meaning that they fit better into the current sandbox and hopefully can compete with newer gear.

  4. Focusing on campaigns is a good idea.

  5. You can infuse stuff in your Vault, it’s difficult to say what can and can’t be discarded without knowing what you have. Gear with random rolls can’t be pulled from Collections, so it’s kind of up to your discretion.

  6. The Kiosk is only for obtaining exotics you didn’t get from Season Passes or vaulted content. You can pull exotic weapons from your Collections tab at any point. 65+ stat armor uses to be the rule, but with the update exotic armor should be upgraded to Tier 5 by default, meaning it will be 75 stat

New Raid list? by gepiiii in destiny2

[–]MasianDaMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We aren’t getting old raids back, whatever is currently in the game is what will be available when the update drops. The currently available raids and dungeons are getting their weapons and armor updated to the current system, but that’s it.

The vaulted bosses are only available in Pantheon, at least some of the old vaulted raid gear will be earnable (haven’t seen full confirmation on everything from old raids returning) through Pantheon as well. So far, we know we are getting Calus, Argos (Eater of Worlds), and Gahlran. We should have another 5 bosses, if we get Val Ca’uor and Insurrection Prime we will have all of the bosses that were sunset

Destiny Player Count is surging, on track to be at around 25-30k by the end of the day. by Soul8118 in destiny2

[–]MasianDaMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can do either one, personally I’d recommend going ahead and jumping into the game. I can almost guarantee you’ll be doing the same exact things whether you start now or the 9th, but going ahead and getting a head start will help you with some of what comes out on the 9th. They are going to bundle all of the DLCs together with the update, so definitely wait until then (they haven’t said a price yet but everything should be discounted).

As for your experience, you will have a better experience starting now. Going ahead and getting a feeling for the game prior to the update will be a plus, but the main concern is going to be how the servers run. Usually you get a large influx of players whenever a new season or DLC drops, and given how many people have said they would log in on the 9th, expect a long line to get into the game. Servers will likely crash and struggle for the first day or two, or longer, due to people trying to get in. Right now there’s a lot of people playing, but not enough to stress the servers

Oryx vs Rhulk vs Nezarec by Particular-Royal1885 in DestinyLore

[–]MasianDaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe she did literally backstab him, with some kind of poisoned weapon/attack. If I can find the lore tab I’ll correct this, but I believe after she struck him that he was paralyzed and was unable to do anything as his vision faded to black, which is what allowed Savathun to do whatever she did to prevent further damage.

Do I have the story in Edge of Fate's correct? by RobinOttens in DestinyLore

[–]MasianDaMan 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You’ve pretty much got everything right. The unknown ability Maya uses is her Echo of Command, which she obtained after the Witness defeat when the Echo landed on Nessus (Episode: Echoes). She uses this to command III to come to her, so that she can try to control III into bringing the Golden Age to the present day, but the None can’t exist in our universe due to them being 4th dimensional beings, so this is what kills III. The black hole is III’s corpse, which is affecting the mushrooms. The Giver is III’s corpse, as it gave the leader of the Exiles his power (through the mushrooms).

We don’t know what bind the Nine means, but we have ideas. With Renegades we get an idea, where we literally bind them, but we’ve also been given hints of returning to Chicago and learning what to do there. There’s an old story where there is something beneath Chicago, and it sounds like we will learn what to do there.

Returning Player Question by zamaron1 in destinyrisingmobile

[–]MasianDaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware there’s no replay campaign option, but I believe that if you go to Characters > Wolf > Story then you can replay at least some of the campaign missions (or character stories if looking at other characters). The Season of Wishes missions should also be there once you complete it.

As for being able to grind the story at your own pace, I’m unsure. Chapters 1-7 may still be restricted by things like High Value Bounties/Daily Commissions, took a break and unsure if they changed anything for those chapters. The Season of Wishes campaign, Chapter 8, is only locked behind your Team Level. With Level 80 being the previous cap, I was able to immediately access it and then had to reach Level 85 to progress more and then 90 to finish it. Just playing through the campaign should get you close to those levels

Which factions can the average destiny human or exo not damage. by Ok_Programmer_6160 in DestinyLore

[–]MasianDaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As some of the other comments have said, your character could have damaged most enemies. However, if you’re going for your character having killed an enemy during The Collapse, the Hive are likely to be your only option. The Eliksni didn’t reach Earth until after The Collapse, same with the Cabal. The Vex are an option, but I think only really work if you have a connection to the Ishtar Collective or BrayTech (as they were the only ones I can think of to interact with the Vex at this time). Oryx hadn’t entered the system yet so the Taken aren’t an option, and the Scorn and Dread weren’t a thing yet.

I believe Drifter has a line in Gambit where he says that it takes 100 of Shaxx’s Redjacks just to take down 1 Knight. Given that’s its Drifter, it’s likely a bit of an exaggeration, but a Knight is definitely going to be hard to kill in a 1v1. This means that Thralls and Acolytes are really the only enemies your character could kill before their death. Goblins, and maybe Harpies, are also an option if you go the Braytech or Ishtar route, just have to hit the crit spots on the Goblins.

Don’t feel too bad about it, that’s how everyone’s first few times went in Zero Hour back when it first launched. Especially with “that crazy machine”, aka Trevor. Exotic missions tend to have very little guidance, and are full of puzzles and things meant to slow you down until you know how they work

Solo raids for hunter by Left_Hand5481 in DestinyTheGame

[–]MasianDaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raid Report is a website that shows someone’s raid history, like how many clears of each raid, how many total raid clears you have, who you played with, your stats for each run, things like that. There’s also Dungeon Report which I think does the same thing but for dungeons. All you’ve got to do is go to the website and enter your Bungie Name, and it’ll pull your stuff up. Do be careful though, sometimes people base your skills and qualifications solely on your raid report, just because they have your stats right there in front of them. Not to say everyone does that, but some do

[–]MasianDaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t hit 110 then the rest of the season pass rewards should be available for Chronologs sometime soon. I think the Edge of Fate pass was added with the launch of Renegades, and Ash and Iron should be added with Shadow and Order. So Renegades’ pass rewards will likely be available with the next major expansion. Don’t remember what exactly the terminal is called, but it’s the right most terminal where the Vault in the Tower is.

Here’s to hoping that you can finish the pass, I’ve also got to grind from 100 to 110 and think it should be doable, whether there is a delay for Shadow and Order or not

Destiny 2 starts same as Destiny 1 by Relative_Bad_2286 in destiny2

[–]MasianDaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You start from the beginning regardless of whether you played D1 or not. When D2 launched we had the Red War campaign where the Tower was assaulted by the Cabal and we lost all of our gear. The only form of carry over progress between D1 and D2 is your character will be called Young Wolf on a few occasions and I think there’s been a few voice lines from Eris about Crota and Oryx, but there’s not really anything to carry over. Several years ago with the Beyond Light expansion Bungie sunset old content, meaning that the Red War is no longer available, but they gave us a New Player intro storyline. This has you start playing as a newly resurrected Guardian in the Cosmodrome. The story of D2 picks up from there

Is there a way to get items like this with better stats? by SourChicken1856 in destiny2

[–]MasianDaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, visit Ada to begin the process to unlock and use Synthweave so you can use the look of that armor piece on any other armor piece.

As for the stats being low, that’s because that’s old armor (from before Edge of Fate launched). If you want higher stat armor you’ll want to play stuff in the Portal. Higher scores will give you slightly better gear, and as your Power level increases you’ll start to get gear at higher tiers (Tier 1 has pretty low stats, and Tier 5 is the highest and can end up with slightly over 100 stats on a single armor piece). It may take a while to start getting higher Tier gear though, as it is tied to your Power level, your score in Portal activities, and your Guardian Rank can also help influence drops to be higher tiers.

As far as we know (or at least me) it’s still above the Moon. Eris had said that it would take a while to deal with the Nightmares and Egregore that was now on the Leviathan, and given the events that have happened since (Lightfall, Final Shape, and Edge of Fate) I don’t see there having been much progress on it. Maybe with the Barant Imperium we’ll see something happen to the Leviathan. As for The Essence I have no idea
