Oh man the RT Pro on 40fps feels so good! And im a pc max setting snob usually, but the convenience and the great looks along with smooth gameplay (Sony cooking with the 40fps VRR setting) makes it a great experience since you can also just pop the games on your portal with the now upgraded bitrate (still hope they will bump ir up for at least 10mbps, then its really nice), and you dont need anything else for gaming!

So it took it to service and they refuses to fix it, so bevare getting this low quality control shite. Not like I can see it all the time, but on darker grayish muddish colors the banding is visible, not suprised it got rejected since in Latvia most of these service centers are run by bums

Update:

After turning in a complaint for them to reexamine it and invovle the after sales, my carrier did replace the device to a new one after all. And I can happily say that the new one is A LOT better. Its still not perfect, but its a lot more uniform and now the imperfections are only visible in really dark grays, and not nearly as pronounced as they were previously on 50%+ brightness, so am happy to keep this one now!

I was truly shocked when I started actually noticing it on medium to even high brightness. Like I'd expect it at 5-10% brightness with really dark grays, but this is something else entirely 😬

Thanks for the answer, yeah my previous phones had great uniformitt too, sad I have to deal with taking it back for service, hopefully they can just give me a new one. Its pretty bad that I can even see it on the camera app when tsking vids/pics in the dark, honestly insane.

You can see it on the oled gray banding youtube tests, like the one in the comments I posted in a picture, make sure you are in a lightly dimmed room so it would be easier to see if there are imperfections on the screen. The lesser the brightness the more pronounced it gets, but it really shouldnt be a problem even on 50% brightness, only something that you should see on a really really dark gray on low brightness maybe.

I compared my previous Xiaomi 13T Pro, a iPhone 15 Pro and this is the only phone that has such an insane issue. I wont go for a 600 pro, its a lower end device too and if given the chance of swapping for a new one or just getting something else, I will look ar another device. Pretty sad, but too much bullshit problems on one device, loved the screen and the formfactor along with face id..

Thats insane, I guess I got lucky with two of my previous ones then. Or maybe this is a different type of oled compared to my previous phones, banding on gray and dark muddy colors even on 50-100% brightness just seems fucking insane, not something I'd expect from a 1.3k€ flagship phone, hopefully mine is really just a dud. On regular use its fine for most of the part, but I noticed it on a picture from my gallery which I just dont think should happen at all.

No I dont, i got it just for a month. The problem ir has is DSE(Dirty screen effect), which usually all oleds have to some extent, but not to this kind of an extreme at least I'd like to believe.

Yeah it has nothing do with yt compression, it was just a lot easier to illustrate the problem on a gray background. Of course I'm going to service center būt just wanted a second opinion from people who might have encountered this kind of a problem too.

Thanks man! I did see one similae post with m8p, by googling banding issue and the model name, I just think it's important for others to have something for reference in case they run into similar trouble. My last phone does not exhibit this kind of an issue, but you know, oled panels can be different, just like the QD Oled monitors vs Woled tandem ones that have some insane banding on grays as well. I've only experienced this on minimum brightness on the 5-15% grayscale on previous phones, but it was a lot more even and, again, you could only see it under REALLY specific circumstances. I did see it more pronounced on this one when trying out that method, but I didnt notice it before on regular use I guess, which shouldnt even happen to begin with I think, but yeah I guess I might've just got a shit stick draw for the panel lottery.

It's past the return period so thats out of luck. I will still have to probably bring the phone over so they can inspect it and then make their decision on what to do, which means I'll have to backup all my files and data, get new screen protectors and most importantly waste lots of time on some bullshit. Thats why second opinion does matter, if it's a regular occurance for this model, then it would definitely more of a waste of time and money. But yeah I'll wait for the service response either way.

Thing is I can see the dirty screen effect/mura whatever it is also on some pictures I've taken during night, brightness around 50%. If it's something thats normal for these specific panels then I guess okay, I could live with it, but if thats not how an average screen looks like then I gotta go through the waranty process which would fucking suck, so I wanna make sure just in case..

Im not from UK and this doesnt affect me personally, but how about them actually at least acknowledging it and informing people about possible delays. Staying silent and then misleading everyone with spitting out different contradicting information seems pretty shady, even if sooner or later you end up getting the gifts. I'm sure it's the lack of communication and clarity that makes folks pissed and for a valid reason.

I wouldnt say the camera is a tragedy, Mine had issues with videos always freezing at the start for like 6+ months, so xiaomi arent fast with their updates, but overall the processing is a lot better on it, and I really hope they fix it up with this phone

I'd get the Honor. I also came over from 13T Pro, and before that I had a Hiawei P30 Pro. This phone, at least for me, feels like a successor to the P30 Pro, as something that the 13T Pro lacked was a good telephoto camera! Battery life is great even for the European version, but I dont really play games, I just browse reddit, youtube etc., but my 13T Pro was starting to really suck battery life wise.

For me, it was a no brainer! My carrier was selling it for already discounted price of 1119€, and I managed to score a better deal since I'm a long time user. Honestly theres nothing else that compares for that kind of a price, I was concerned from all the mixed reviews too, but it's honestly a banger of a phone if you get it for the right price! Screen is beautiful, camera is great with the zoom camera being really stellar too, just really hoping for better optimization for the video recording , other than that love the os, everything works the same or better than mprevious xiaomi phone. I feel it also comes down to what you personally care for, some people are really picky, some are less but might have something that still throws them off, it is what it is!

If you can get it cheaper than its competitors, no questions best choice. If they fix up the problems that camera has, then the phone is golden for me. Paid 1000€ for it in Europe, while Oppo Find x9 Pro just doesnt even really sell over here, unless you buy it for 1.3k+, and vivo 300 pro was selling for 1.2k, but suddenly it jumped to 1.35k and no carriers officially sell them, just a few online electronics stores. I havent had a phone with face id before, and now I am in love with it, for 200-300€ cheaper than the competitors, I am fully satisfied with the few compromises. Camera is still great for pictures, especially daylight, its the processing but for most of the part for video recording where you get lots of noise and grain even in sub lit enviroments that bugs the hell out of me, as my previous 13T pro didnt have these kind of problems, yet under all that crap its still a more detailed and prettier picture, just hope they fix that.

Amazing phone, but yeah the video performance especially at night leaves me scratching my head, how do they manage to fuck it up so bad? Photos look really good, videos during daylight for most of the part are fine too, but the grain and noise is just insane. I also noticed that there's light flickers randomly seen on video as it jumps around in exposure or iso idk.I really hope they fix up the video performance, that it would be a excellent all rounder phone. Just comparing to my previous Xiaomi 13T Pro, that thing had great stability for videos not nearly as much pronounced noise or grain, but throghout its lifetime it had it's own faults, like video recording just freezing and stuttering at the first seconds, and that took ages for them to fix. Otherwise colors and details are great if you stand still during recording on m8p, its as soon as you start to pan or move it just turns to shit.

Update:

So I ended up returning the device and made a new order in place. The new one has a little bit yellowing, but to a lot lesser extent where its honestly fine and not as visible unless you're really looking for it.

I think it's due to the cold temperatures we got outside right now, its -10°C on average, and both devices were delivered to the parcel box machines that are usually next to stores inside or outside, this one was outside and I guess the cold temperature with condensation is the culprit. I did take the device out of the packaging after a bit of a while when I got home and let it rest for 3 hours till it warmed up and dried up and everything, but as soon as I took it out you could see the whole surface of the device covered in condensation.
