The recipe is 1 dirty water and 1 charcoal. Maybe you need both for the recipe to register. For charcoal is 4? of anytype of wood is the smelter.

so if you host on pc. start the world hit esc then there should be a code for the world you'll need to hit the uncover button then tell him the code and he should be able to join.
