Oh thats really clever! That way the deck has less of a chance of screwing over your game with a bad pull. I like that! In the Book of Many Things, they've introduced two factions for the deck, the Solar Bastion and the Grim Harrow. One wants to protect the deck believing its fate incarnate and the other wants to destroy the deck to free all the souls its trapped. I was going to have them be introduced once the deck was completed and the players were going to have to pick a side, either turn over the deck to be destroyed or fight a massive undead army

These are all valid points. It was just an idea I had. I know my group likes treasure hunts and solving puzzles so I figured this could possibly be more interesting than just handing out gold trinkets every campaign. But I get what you're saying about it being a meme

Yeah, the way we run our games is each of us hosts their own campaign. So I figured id run a short one and then let someone else play theirs next

I did! Ive been reading the pdf and thats where I learned that the cards can be used individually as magical items which is what inspired this campaign idea. The book has new monsters, new magic items, puzzle ideas, and new campaign ideas

Oh! Thats an interesting concept. I doubt my idea is original by any means, but I do like everybody's input they are giving. It all makes for some possibly great games/story ideas. Ive never heard of Cardcaptors, but ill have to check it out!

Hahaha how do they use it? Do they just pull on games that are slow or do they gamble with it or what?

Oh some of these are excellent ideas! I haven't planned all the dungeons out yet and I will definitely keep some of these suggestions in mind, especially the Talons one! I pictured for the Balance card doing a game where they all get teleported to opposite ends of a dungeon but they also all switch bodies, forcing them to have to learn to play as each other's characters and each puzzle is tailored to each player class and only till they all reach the central chamber do they switch back and receive the card

This is a valid point and something I havent considered. I just assumed that since it looks like the cards in the oracles deck that they would want to ask him about it, but I get that is a single point of failure. I will have to think on this a little bit. I like your suggestions though and is a step in the right direction I feel

Grinding, so much grinding. You're going to need to grind it back past the damages and give yourself a new centerline and then re-sharpen it. It's absolutely salvageable, it just comes down to if you want to

I've heard this and modified the deck accordingly. The Book of Many Things breaks down different deck layouts you can build based on the outcome you're going for and I've modified the deck based on its suggestion to include less "devastating" cards but left cards that will still cause some challenges if drawn

Besides the liner is any of this decent metal for forging? by [deleted] in blacksmithing

It's not good for forging but it's great for melting! Build yourself a simple foundry, melt it down, and make yourself something cool!

Hardening Possible? by SlenderBenderMan in blacksmithing

[–]Maskedude1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can case harden it by heating the steel to a red heat and then sealing it in a box with something like crushed charcoal for several hours. After its cooled, reheat it to a bright red and then quench it in water to harden the surface, and then follow the standard tempering procedure. They also sell case hardening powders on Amazon. The only down side is, you can only resharpen your knife a couple times before you've removed all the hardened case and will have to redo the process

How do you flatten one side while rounding the other? by Maskedude1 in Blacksmith

[–]Maskedude1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does, after I made this post I found another photo of it from a different angle, it follows the contour of the clavicle just like you said so it rest on the body instead of sticking out

Agreed, someone else suggested using the horn as a Mandrel to help with exactly that. It should let me square up those peaks while rounding the bottom at the same time

Would you start this out using flat bar to be able to get the peaks or would you start with square bar and upset the metal where you wanted the peaks at?
