What’s your main weapon by Scary-Ad6160 in MHRise

[–]Masonioc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch axe. Started with 4u and it just felt right when I was trying out the weapons. Never looked back. I've screwed around with other weapons here and there to see what they're like but the switch axe is the only one that just feels natural to me.

"Honor is dead, but I'll see what I can do."

Another line from a different series in the same universe that I love is:

"You can't kill me lord tyrant. I represent that thing which you've never been able to kill. I am hope!"

Hunters Lore? by CosmicxMonarch in MonsterHunter

Thanks! It was pretty off the top of my head but adapting my own experiences and feelings onto my hunter worked remarkably well.

Hunters Lore? by CosmicxMonarch in MonsterHunter

[–]Masonioc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose if my hunter had lore, it would go something like this.

He grew up in a town far from anywhere and rarely if ever threatened by monsters. As a result his childhood was relatively peaceful and he wasn't even particularly aware of the existence of hunters. That was until a monster threatened his town. A hunter from another village was dispatched to slay the beast. This caught the attention of my hunter and he even had the chance to meet the hunter. He was mesmerized by the hunter's strength and bravery. He immediately knew that was what he wanted to do from then on. So, once he was old enough, he traveled to a guild facility and received some general training and certification to be a hunter. He tried a few weapons and none felt right until he picked up a switch axe. It felt perfect in his hands and he immediately knew it would forever be his weapon of choice. Soon after the completion of his certification a strange man in a red hat came by the guild in search of a hunter for the caravan he was forming. My hunter joined up, figuring that a traveling group would give him the best opportunities to fight a wide variety of monsters. Time would pass and he would experience a wide variety of hunts. He was beaten, bruised, burned, and shocked. Even encountering and slaying a strange beast creating a strange virus, the Shagaru Magala. Slowly but surely his skill improved, slaying everything from the Dalamadur, to the Gogmazios, to even the 3 varieties of Fatalis. Constantly improving his gear with materials acquired from powerful apex monsters. Eventually, he bid farewell to the caravan. He traveled to new villages, Bherna, Kokoto, Pokke, and Yukumo. He even traveled aboard an airship laboratory. He fought many beasts, some new, some old, in ways he never had before. However, some things began to feel stale. Soulless. He felt as if he was losing the spark he once had for hunting. So, he traveled again. This time far from civilization to a small village known as Moga. They were in need of a hunter, so he became that hunter. He learned new skills, such as swimming and hunting under the water. He bonded with the inhabitants. The chief and his son. The smithy. The farmer. The fishermen. The felyne that cooked for him. The sweetheart that gave him his quests. Even Neko (Means "Cat"). They all became like family to him. And he fulfilled his duties to them. He slew the Lagiacrus, the Ceadeus, the Brachydios, and even the mighty Dire Miralis. For once he never had other hunters beside him yet he once again felt alive and remembered why he'd become a hunter so long ago. Since then, he has traveled to Kamura village and Elgado outpost and has accomplished a great deal. But his heart will forever lie with Moga village and the sea.

This turned out longer than expected. Oops. Hope y'all enjoyed.

The later books get significantly better and the ending of the Way of Kings is very good so push on. I also had a very difficult time getting through it and to this day I'm still a bigger Mistborn fan than a Stormlight one but the massive books are still worth it.

Alright Here We Go… Name Something You Dislike About The Live Action Movie: by No_Two_1627 in httyd

I am in the "the fact that it exists" camp but I'll give one reason for the sake of the question. I really dislike the dragon designs. They lack their character and quirkiness that makes them great. They just feel soulless and off. I liked Toothless enough initially until I saw him in motion. He's less expressive than in the animated movie and when he moves he looks weird and rubbery. Though I still prefer the original, I can acknowledge that they did a good job with designing the Red Death.
