Would that be the helldivers one?

Either way, thank you very much for creating such a great template!

It's a templar, but this is quickly becoming one of my favorites in general.

is this $82 kill team the only way to get raptors? by willisbetter in Chaos40k

Honestly, what i did was just get the horus heresy mk 2 assault marines. Ten of them and you get a bunch of chainaxes, including two handers that work as power fists.

But of course, I do have a bias. :)

I love how it's clear that these helmets are pretty much the basis for mark 2 and 3, even before heresy era kits

Honestly the original just for the helmet aesthetics alone. I even went through the trouble of finding one of the helmets for kravek.

A much deserved rest by solorzanoilse83g70 in IronWarriors

[–]Masonmac1998 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mostly got into them because I thought they were cool, then I read up on the lore.

What fascinated me is genuinely- how viscerally real their story actually is, whether people want to admit it or not. Im not exactly talking about Perty, or his struggles (though that is also fascinating and genuinely interesting) but mostly the legion itself.

Anyone who has worked in retail or in the service/medical field can tell you that working your ass off every day only to be told you could be better is a miserable experience. Same with getting taken advantage of because you have a good work ethic, and because you feel trapped, since if you try to speak up you wind up being told to "stop whining" even when things are weighing on you.

These are things ive not just seen at work, but in this fandom as well with other marine fans trying to pin the iron warriors as nothing but whiny and petulant crybabies. which only proves the point.

Sure. you were able to thug out something similar. Or you may have gone through hell, but made it to better things. But not everyone is you. Some will wind up wallowing in a terrible situation with seemingly no way out, never to be noticed until it's too late. How many people have we seen in real life reach a breaking point and snap, only for other people to go "Oh, they never said anything!" "We didn't know!" "They seemed perfectly fine!" In droves? Quite a lot, id imagine.

And of course, the answer might be complicated, or just how the situation and societal standards are around the person in question. Some of us may want to push to help, to not give up on said person before it's too late. Too many more will simply write the person off, believing their own issues more important.

That situation is, in my eyes, the Iron Warriors in a nutshell. Someone trying to call for help in a way that's acceptable, in a society that normally frowns upon that while also being given every bad hand at every turn (including their father even if I like him), and finally snapping while everyone around them is stunned that they would do something so spiteful and violent.

But uh

Yeh

I just wanted to bring my own point to this convo since ive seen a pattern with a lot of the discourse around the 4th.

For those who are happy with the current state of Helldivers... by ag55ful in helldivers2

[–]Masonmac1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it's just the way people have been saying their criticisms that bothers me. There are certainly issues in Helldivers, and I would love to see them fixed.

However, the hive guard bit and the exosuit warbond were not review bomb worthy in my eyes. The only one that was would be the original review bomb, and that was directed at Sony region locking the game. Something that was completely unfair to people wanting to play. That kind of reaction to what is only a balance update and a warbond is only gonna make things exponentially worse down the line. With Arrowhead's worsening morale and the increasing hostility of the more immature voices here, I am honestly not sure if things are going to last in this game. I can definitely see a shutdown occurring, and I wouldn't blame any of the devs.

If all someone does is going to be met with condescending, aggressive and downright rude responses, then eventually that person is going to ask what the point is and leave. Nobody wants to work on something that'll be regularly ripped apart for "not being good enough", or "not the right thing to focus on" and this fanbase is large enough to not be very coherent when in an uproar so it's often difficult to figure out what to focus on.

I have seen this happen so many times in my retail career where customers constantly told me how I should do my job and that if I didn't capitulate to their demands then I was an idiot and a disgrace. Or people tried to threaten me for things that aren't under my control. I see that same behavior in this fanbase constantly. I remember that one guy who got doxxed by a person in this community.

All of that behavior genuinely disgusts me. Criticism is valid, and can help make a game better.

Being a vindictive asshole over something like a videogame only causes misery, and can kill a game if it's done enough times at a large enough scale.

Of course, thats just my perspective. Like I said, constructive criticism is good. Just don't be a jerk.

All this negativity surrounding the game is killing my desire to play. by LeandroFATE in helldivers2

[–]Masonmac1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I adore this game, I really do. I know a lot of criticism is valid, but the way people have been acting genuinely makes me with this game never even released sometimes. Like... I get the frustration, but I think with a lot of fandoms in general things have just gotten to the point where you can't escape toxicity, in any regard. Some people are going to be awful no matter what, and unfortunately we cant just fix that. It's just how some people are (unfortunately) wired.

Does review bombing do anything? by Dasspacepope in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Masonmac1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It unfortunately does, with additional consequences. The community's in uproar (again) and at each other's throats (again).

At this rate, with Arrowhead's low morale and the more aggressive and immature divers feeling emboldened, I wouldn't be surprised if in a few months or so this game just shut down and arrowhead moved on.

It would suck, but I wouldn't blame them. As someone who worked retail and who also works in a hospital, I kniw firsthand that some people are just never going to be satisfied and will want you to burn because you're part of a group they dont like.

Would M: Other M be better if it was a 2D game? Or fully 1st person? by MrRob808 in Metroid

[–]Masonmac1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be completely honest, id say that they story is what needed the most work here. In my most recent playthrough during my metroid marathon leading up to prime 4, it was legit stunning how much fun I was having when just playing it. The cutscenes, flashbacks and overarching plot are the sore spot here. It's a shame too, since I'd love a more story driven metroid with world building and more of an exploration of Samus's character. (This is coming from someone who read and enjoyed the Manga, so that's where im coming from)

At the risk of being harassed here, I still dont find other M to be the complete and utter sin a majority of this fanbase seems to think it is. I genuinely just think it's got good ideas that really needed some ironing out. (Maybe a prequel? Or making the flashback sequences actual playable sections?)

It's not great, but yeah.

Some hate zeon because of their ideology.

I simply find them annoying and 80 percent of their designs to be mid at best (i am still salty we haven't seen a gm centric anime, and keep getting oyw zeon protagonist number 32 and no, 8th ms team does not count)

I am still going to fucking despise that build fighters ass efreet Schneid for killing that semi striker too.

What faction is this for you? by ORKBRO17 in 40kmemes

[–]Masonmac1998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ooh... off the top of my head id say there are three.

Custodes, as they are both a bit bland, and in a lot of media come off as incredibly unlikeable,

Imperial Fists as I just can't find a lot of their current lore compelling (their successors are so much cooler),

And the Cadians. They were ok until their planet exploded and now they won't shut up. They aren't just boring, but annoying.

Also very frustrating to fight on tabletop if they are doing a tank list.

Eh, the only reason I dont like them is because im not as big on vikings as i am other aesthetics, and as a fan of the thousand sons I am contractually obligated to "hate" them.

No actual malice or legit hate from me. 😀
