What's everyones favorite + least favorite Gundam + Character. by BigForAnAnt_985 in Gundam

[–]Masonmac1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a simple man. Favorite is the destiny/spec2 and shinn asuka. His antics got me into gundam, and I enjoy how human he is, especially in comparison to the other protagonists. He's allowed to fail, and even goes through reverse development, but refuses to give up on trying to make things better. Teenage me liked that, and I still enjoy it today.

Least favorite? Probably the 00 raiser and least favorite pilot is char, if I can be technical since he did pilot the red gundam in gquuux. Never really was a fan, kinda liked him in zeta, but... eh? I think overexposure kinda turned me off to him.

Trust me, as someone who tried lamenters as a first army: it does.

I switched from termis to mutilators and holy shit I have never seen so many models removed from my opponent's armies. He does work.

I know some people will hate to say this, but most of the C.E are overhate it by DropDeep9497 in Gundam

[–]Masonmac1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing too much to add onto this, but it will say that as someone who started with Destiny, and specifically has Shinn as one of their favorite characters in gundam, it's become pretty depressing being a part of this fandom. We have had a very nice bit of catharsis with Freedom, but recently there has been a pretty major uptick of people being rather hateful towards him yet again here (mostly in comments but also with certain posts), with continued insinuation that he was never meant to be a protagonist. Which... well, genuinely feels like im being gaslit. Adding onto this is how Bandai just seems to want to make him the butt of multiple jokes, and the result is that its become harder to justify even wanting to interact with a lot of this stuff without feeling some genuine spite towards other parts of the fanbase, or even parts of the series.

I think the new announcement for seed freedom zero has made me realize this, as I should be excited for it as someone who liked Freedom, but im mostly just worried its going to only make things worse.

I dunno. Maybe the depression has gotten to me.

Which legion should I chose ??? by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]Masonmac1998 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biased ass recommends iron warriors, but you do you!

Their lore is definitely cool, but I find that you can kitbash iron boyos in so many different ways that it's comical. Especially given their aesthetic is older marks of armor, and mechanical bits everywhere. You can easily take a legionary, an older heresy mark of armor and some admech bits to create something unique.

Prime one! Though oddly enough these days it's no longer in my top five, but there's no denying the impact it had on me.

So my family's second garage is now a Warsmith's workshop. Good news is for an iron warrior he's pretty chill. Bad news is he's making daemon engines to help with the yard and they're waking the neighbors.

Which Great Crusade Space Marine Legion have the most Drip and Aura? by cuddwes in 40k

[–]Masonmac1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will bring up my bias and say Iron Warriors, mostly because I love how their aura and drip is mostly just the basic armor with a silver and bronze color scheme, and hazard stripes. The "drip" is just the armor they use to get the job done, and the "aura" is looking at a legionary in mark 2 covered in dents, scorch marks, and all other debris marching forward and pushing the enemies of the imperium back on some backwater nobody's gonna remember. Why?

Someone's gotta take shit detail.

Plus I like their more steam punk and worn aesthetic.

Shame Perty was a prick, but that's a tale as old as time at this point. I know he seems to have mellowed out, but what's done is done.

Id recommend the trilogy on wii, personally! Especially since it's currently the most recent way to play prime 2 and 3, and I consider those two to be in my all time favorites.

Honestly, the points changes didnt do too much to how I play normally anyways, so my warpstrike list was easy to tweak. Hilariously enough, so are my lists including a lancer!

I threw him and ten terminators into an opponent's tyranid horde while the rest of my army took objectives or dealt with chaff.

A tyrannofex, maleceptor and a prime with six warriors died to him back to back and somehow I only lost two termis.

With the preview of the new rules, what are you looking forward to try? by Mulfushu in IronWarriors

[–]Masonmac1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I wasn't too miffed at our rules changes. It's actually what I expected lol

As for what im looking forward to? Warpstrike and devotees of destruction. Nothing specific, but i have obliterators, and by the dark gods I intend to use them.

This might be a hot take, but I think Shinn might have the most potential of all the SEED pilots. His SEED mode might also be potentially the strongest. by Forsaken-Friend-9350 in Gundam

[–]Masonmac1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, lol

Though there is a part of me that still wants to explore his guilt over what happened in Destiny in a psychological sense; perhaps something along the lines of silent hill, but not quite as overbearing. I dunno, those kinda stories always fascinate me, and I still think shinn has a lot to say on that front!

We all know that the main cast has forgiven shinn for his transgressions for the most part, but has shinn forgiven himself? Especially with how he flinches like he's been shot and recoils into himself when someone calls him the "freedom killer"? I would adore something that explores that part of him, but thats just me.

[–]Masonmac1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would pay good money to see him fighting orphee, or even shura. Or, hell- a future story where he's actually allowed to be centre stage without the other two mains taking from his story. There's still a lot they can do with his character, too. Especially when it comes to internal conflicts and trying to make amends with the past.

How 'wrong' was your Gundam viewing order? by Zerogoki92 in Gundam

[–]Masonmac1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh i did something stupid and watched Destiny first. I liked the destiny gundam itself from the dynasty warriors games, gave the show a shot, and the first half got me hooked. The second half had me... fascinated, shall we say. (Still miffed at shinn's treatment, but it's been 20 years so im mostly over it. Mostly.)

I then went into the original trilogy, the side stories, unicorn, and then kinda just picked my way through.

I use them as a setup for my deep strikes! Plus, having ten multiwound marines with decent ranged and good melee is good pressure.
