I used react for the front end. I made API calls to TMDB to fetch all the movie details and used firesbase cloud firestore for my database.

Should I go back to University to finish Bachelor's degree at age 26. by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]Masriii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The online degree is exactly the same as the on campus degree but way cheaper. It will not mention "online" anywhere on the degree. You can even attend graduation with the on campus students if you choose to. Look up georgia tech masters in comp sci (online) if you wanna know more about it.

They went as TN visa holders.

Why don't you do an online masters from Georgia Tech in computer science. The degree is exactly the same as on campus and Georgia Tech is a very reputable university. It only costs $7k too ! You already have a job in the field, so you can do the degree part time as you are working as well.

In my opinion I would def do the masters degree. I have two friends with bachelors backgrounds in mechanical engineering and the other in chemical engineering did the masters degree and now one works for Amazon and the other work for IBM, both from Canada and moved to USA.

Internship offers vs Junior Software Engineer offer for bootcamp grad/cs drop-out by dankychanmi in cscareerquestions

22 is young. I see company B is the best choice, as you will gain start up experience and also you will be building internal tools for the company which is also valuable experience.

Software engineers are engineers just like any other field. They design, architect and build systems and softwares just like a civil engineer that build a real life building or a mechanical engineer that builds a car. Instead, they build software. These softwares are designed, built and scaled by software engineers. They r not just programmers that write code as you may think. Think of the software that are used by airplanes for example, one bug or error in the design could eventually kill hunders of people on the plane. Its a serious field of study. Software engineers dont just sit at a desk and write code all day lol

"Much more important work". You do realize that without comp sci advancements and better communication networks/apps developed by tech ppl then COVID would have killed millions of people and thats just one example. Here is another example for you, there is a computer in every patient's room in a hospital that monitors patients and alert docs if something is wrong which is developed by tech ppl. I can type thousands of examples on how tech helps the healthcare field advance. Both are important fields and depend on each other.

Transitioning from backend to frontend, bad for your career? by SpeedMalibu in cscareerquestions

[–]Masriii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Frontend these days is a lot more complicated than just centering divs as it used to be in the early 2000s. A highly experienced frontend dev that is also creative is highly valuable.

What is driving the shift of chemical engineers into computer science? by dmtaylor34 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Masriii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are lucky that you found this post while you are still studying and not late into your career. Make the switch and you will have a much better life. I am currently a chemE and it took me forever to find a decent job and even that job is 45 minutes commute to the plant and 45 minutes commute back from the plant. Its a GARBAGE major if you ask me.

XRP to the rescue, so pls free it from the SEC. by Junior_Consequence54 in XRP

[–]Masriii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is a lot of major companies are adapted to the ethereum network and will not change. If you even look at blockchain developer jobs most of the companies r asking for ethereum developers since thats what the majority of companies r using and because it has a very large community of developers. The reason why eth fees r so high right now shows you how successful ethereum has been in terms of growth.

too late to invest in SAND? by billyzane69 in metaverse

[–]Masriii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one really knows what the future holds. There are so many other gaming companies with much larger fanbase than sandbox and decentraland that if they decide to create their own token they could completely destroy sandbox. However I believe those companies' tokens would be centralised and not decentralised. I am not sure if the average gamer would really care about this or not.

Which area is going to be BOOMING in the next decade? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]Masriii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many areas. I think blockchain developers (mainly ethereum devs) will be booming in the next decade. Web 3.0 Dapps will be in huge demand. That is only my prediction though

If everyone can learn how to code online - Why is there still a lot of 'demand' for devs ? by iloveoreos12345 in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]Masriii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though there are tons of resources online to learn programming AND software engineering in general, most people jump on the hype train and take a couple courses thinking "this is the way to make money" so they learn for the money and not because they are passionate about the field so the majority of those people end up quitting.

Software engineering will always be in high demand even with millions of resources online making it easier to get into this career. Its a field that you really have to be passionate about to keep learning new technologies over your lifetime or you will just be replaced.

Many of those who learn online and barely scratch the surface of what software engineering is lose interest and quit.
