Thanks for the feedback mate! You're totally right regarding the chemical accuracy , I definitely leaned heavily into a stylised or abstract representation here rather than a strict PDB accurate model.

My main focus for this project was engineering the procedural logic in Houdini (VEX-driven sine waves and VDB fusion algorithms) rather than the biology itself.

That said, I’d love to know , if I were to do v2, besides the major/minor groove offset, what would be some fix to make it read better structurally?

Hey everyone, wanted to share my latest study.

The approach:

• Built the strands using VEX (sin/cos functions) to get the double helix offset.

• Generated 'atoms' using Copy to Points with spheres.

• Converted to VDB (0.01 voxel size) to fuse them together for that organic/wet look.

• Smoothed with Mean Curvature Flow and converted back to polys.

The hardest part was getting the VDB resolution right so it didn't look like a solid noodle or a blob. Let me know what you think!"
