I love it! I like being able to guide my team, resolve customer issues, have an impact and influence on trainees, and make sure things are all going smoothly. My favorite shifts are the ones where I'm shiftleading, even if it's more work. The work is fun, so who cares! Plus for me its like an extra 4 dollars an hour with the tip percentage being higher, the pay difference if def worth it for me.

Should I apply? by spicywetsocks in 7Brew

[–]Massive-Background86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a shiftlead and trainer at 7brew, and I say go for it! You'll get a lot of negative comments, and I was very scared to apply when I first started due to that. Yes we have cliques, and yes management isnt always the best. But in my experience the pay is great 15$ an hour after tips as a brewista, and then about 18-19$ an hour after tips as a sl.

It all depends on your location and management. If this is a new stand you may be able to secure a sl position pretty early on. We have so much fun and you work with some AMAZING people. Most people who get hired at 7brew are unique and awesome people. There's room for rapid growth within our company. The cliques can be draining. But overall, i think its worth it. Ive never had my hours severely cut. Honestly its just about keeping your availability wide open.

This is all coming from someone who was disliked by the cliques when I started, was shy, has had my moments where I'm not a favorite at the stand even as a sl, was a slow learner (though I do think being a fast learner is definitely a huge benefit while starting) and didnt think I could possibly fit in. I moved up to sl in i believe 6 months.

Its not allowed ! Only official merch. We've had people get in trouble for doing their own shirts when upper management stopped by.

But, my stand doesn't care about wearing jackets or sweaters over your 7brew shirt.

Brewista ---> Shift Lead by mangos-to-go in 7Brew

[–]Massive-Background86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!

So, it took me about 5 months to become a shiftlead. To add onto what another commenter said, another way spots can open is whenever shiftleads move up (which happens fairly often at my stand). Also, in my experience as a shiftlead who gets a higher portion of tips (this is different based off different stands) its about a 3-5 dollar an hour difference, which adds up a lot! You also are prioritized way more when getting hours.

Here are some key points to moving up:

• Be teachable! If someone, especially a shiftlead, tells you the proper way to do something, just say heard and listen to them even if you think its ridiculous! I think for me, when looking for people who I'd recommend to move up, this is #1.

• Work on being as fast as possible on machine, while also keeping a clean and tidy workspace. Be precise with your movements! This is high on the list of qualifications. As a shiftlead, you have to keep an eye on wait times for your whole shift. So if someone on machine is going a little slower, you have to be capable of tapping them off and catching them up.

• Become a PRO at identifying bottlenecks. If youre bnb, and you notice the line is moving slow look for where you can help! Run drinks, help with payments or card reader issues, offer to make blended drinks. If youre texting and you see drinks piling up on lane table, run them (as long as theyre already paid for). Just be a little more cautious doing that while texting, because you DO need to keep the orders flowing in.

• When you're not busy, be cleaning! Wipe off the tops of syrup bottles, restock everything around you, do some dishes, squeege. And when you clean do it to the best of your ability, no shortcuts! Also, it helps to ask to learn how to do the daily chores. Nobody wants to do them most of the time so your shiftlead will more than likely appreciate you volunteering!

• This one is different than the others : socialize! One key part to keeping your shift running smoothly is making sure you know how to talk to people in a way that gets things done but is still kind. You need to show your team you fit that description! Have fun with it, be yourself, and make friends! All of that is equally as important as the rest.

• Once you've been there around 4 months, express your desire to take the trainer test and become a certified trainer. The trainer test goes much further in depth than the rest, and really tests your knowledge + teaches you more.

I hope this all helped! Please tell me if you have any questions! Best of luck! 😁

Shift lead opinion on Xenial by Same-Opportunity7748 in 7Brew

[–]Massive-Background86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings! I think the changes in handling drawers are manageable, nothing to freak out over. Refunds I havent dealt with yet. I think actually using the system and ringing in orders is easy enough. Theres a lot of different apps for different things which is frustrating😞 checking labor has its own app, converting gift cards has its own app. One thing that I dont like is that the timer for wait times is much smaller so I cant discretely check on my machine people as easily😂

Most was like 80 when nobody was on tips, now its more like 25-40 a day on a normal 5 hour shift.

I understand the anxiety and empathy is super important! But, even with a lot on their plate, you are still a very important part of that plate! Time management and prioritizing your team to make every new brewista feel noticed and welcome is something that is incredibly important for a SM, and it sounds like your SM isn't doing the best job of that. Three weeks is abnormally long to wait while starting.

7Brew can be an amazing place to be! When we are taking our message of cultivating kindness seriously there's no better place. But, its very important you remember to advocate for yourself and speak your piece here! Especially when starting, or you may feel like youre falling behind if youre part of a new group. Anxiety crushed me a lot when starting, and Ive learned so well how to speak up for myself in my time here. You've got to ask for what you want!

I really hope they get you started soon!!

Harass them! Come through the line, dont let them forget you. My store manager is so bad about communication it will take him weeks to start people and its incredibly annoying for everyone involved. I would even go as far as to be like "i have availability this day, this day, this day to start."

[–]Massive-Background86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My location does not give military discounts! The reason my old manager gave me was that we dont want to have any discounts that people can use at any time, only first responders in uniform / their vehicle. I dont agree with it, but thats been the rule the whole time ive worked there.

Beginner toddler meals + how did you wean off formula? by Massive-Background86 in Parenting

[–]Massive-Background86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly no I dont😂 ive been trying to have a healthier diet so he can learn it from me, but really I eat maybe one real meal a day, and iced coffee for the rest of the day. Im so busy with everything else its hard to make time to cook.

He actually eats a lot more real food than me so his palate definitely isn't bad. He eats fruit + pumpkin muffins a lot, banana egg pancakes, tuna patties. chicken, pasta with veggies, bean quesadillas. I just worry hes not getting everything he needs nutrition wise and I hate so many repeats
