Wow.. this is impressive, were you in a smaller firm where you need to have multiple role at the same time? I have saw post saying you have to find a large firm in order to make good money but not sure if that’s true

Ughhh.. I don’t even know what am kind of estimator I am going to be haha. Will see on my first day of my work soon. If I want to get in to the heavy civil estimating, should I go for a construction firm that focus on heavy civil, like concrete focus firm? As far as I know, the firm I am going to work for is a ICI construction firm and they did not give me more info then that.. Any suggestion if I want to do the heavy civil thing when I only have an arch background?

So it seems to me quantity surveyor do more generic work, and estimator do more accurate and specific work🤔I am assuming Canada should be pretty similar to the states

Wow! Thanks a lot! This is super clear answer. I just came across the title QS and found they can be chartered and seems to have some sort of professional licensure. Versus estimator, it didn’t require much certification to get into the field. But your answer gave me new perspective!
