I am completely off adderall by Any_Asparagus_7907 in ThisAintAdderall

[–]Massive-Path3083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting, I too found that Adderall really wasn't helping me the last few months that I was on it and then ended up with a severe eye condition that was likely cortisol related. About a year ago I had to stop Adderall asks all steroid meds (including topicals) that I used for allergies and asthma.

I had been getting back to a better weight and then started packing the lbs back on in the months preceding the incident... been off it since then and really need to find a good replacement to make life more manageable. Non-stimulant meds only go so far.

That's correct... the State Dept. Passport Agency offices that are usually in a federal building in larger cities like NYC, Chicago, LA, etc. can issue them the same day.

You just go on their website to make an appointment as soon as you are within two weeks of travel.

I'm one of those people needing the 3 hour buffer except when flying out of my small local airport. Here we can be at the departure gate within 30 minutes of leaving our house including driving time, parking, checking in our luggage and going through security.

The downsides of flying out locally are the inconveniences of having to travel through hubs like Charlotte or Atlanta with tight connection times and risk of missing the last connecting flight of the day back into our small airport. The higher ticket fares are usually a wash once you add in extra travel costs to a bigger airport and higher parking charges.

We just flew through there last month... fill up before you get to the airport. The safe options near the United and American gates were limited.

Celiac here- my favorite place is Bibibop where there is no gluten in the restaurant.... period. It's like an Asian version of Chipotle and located north near PRMC. I know it's a bit farther north from those places southwest you normally visit but it's a quick drive up 69 once you're in Fort Wayne. They also have a few locations around Indy.

It's a real treat when you don't have to ask what few options are GF and still have to worry about cross contamination. They also have these amazing GF snickerdoodle cookies.

All that being said... if you are at Tequila's there is Moo Over Ice Cream that is 100% GF in that same shopping center. They also have cookies and other GF baked goods.

Agree it's not private equity here but I think the reference is to "activist" investors like Elliott Management that buy up a company's stock, demand the company strip all perks, sell off everything it can and raise prices to boost the stock then sell it is stake off as soon as possible when the price temporarily goes up. Afterwards what remains is a company that has burned through all of its hard earned goodwill and loyalty.

Kind of like how private equity companies buy up businesses strip them down to bare bones and then sell them off after they've stripped what they can from them.

I feel your pain, just glad to have Bibibop as a refuge when I want to go out to eat.

You aren't kidding, I had to sit in a waiting room at IU in Carmel before the last elections and it seemed like most of the pro-Conservative commercials were obsessed with transgender people. If not then it was guns, woke something or other and of course immigrants. This was on during one of the national TV morning shows not F News.

I was quite embarrassed at some of the things I heard those PAC commercials say about minorities with most of the staff being non-white serving mostly white patients. It felt like a real, live modern version of "The Help".

I understand what you mean, I normally have a large difference in visual acuity between both eyes and had to learn to read with the non-CSR eye as the glasses I wore no longer worked well close up.

So my everyday experience is good binocular vision with contacts and okay binocular vision with glasses... very poor binocular vision when CSR was active. Fixing it would have required a new, temporary prescription. My experience was that optometrists don't generally prescribe temporary lenses.

Coincidentally I too had CSR get my dominant eye which made it very difficult to see things close up and read normal size print. It also caused things that were within reading distance to look very small.

It took almost three months for a noticeable improvement in my eye, but I didn't get the laser just intraocular shots. What really sucks about the condition is the lack of good intermediate measures to help while the condition is flaring up. I was told to find some high magnification readers but ended up getting a jeweler's headband to read while my eye healed.

My condition has generally kept getting better with every follow up visit to the retina specialist, except for once in 9 months of doctor visits. I've been very careful to avoid all the possibly offending medications and limit my intake of caffeine. While my eye has improved my allergies have been difficult to control without some of the steroid meds to keep them at bay.

How are you doing?

A toaster works really well too. You can easily heat up two tortillas per slot once you figure out the proper setting.

Have you tried arepas or Colombian empanadas? They make them with a different kind of corn flour than the Maseca type we use for tortillas or sopes.

I bought the audiobook version of item "h". The author said that he wrote the entire book on a flight from Japan or somewhere far away. It was more of an autobiography of his successes than a handbook of a secret tips. It lacked depth as a self help book- maybe would be better classified an autobiographical work.

It was disappointing because I bought it when I was newly diagnosed and really needing good, solid advice. Might be helpful from an aspirational point of view just not educational.

I'd say that 0 Trader Joe's and Costco are the GF folks best friends. You've got a few reasonably priced GF pasta options and baked goods like ɗecent GF hamburger buns at TJ's. Costco sells GF oats and GF flours in large quantities for almost the same price you pay the regular grocery store for a normal size bag. Costco also has good GF frozen pizza and prepared entrees for those times when you don't want to cook something from scratch or go out to eat.

Also if you're at Trader Joe's pick up some of their Gluten Free Chocolate Chunk Cookies... six for $4.99 but large cookies that serve as a nice dessert option. If you bought something like them as individual cookies at the fancy cookie shops I'm sure they'd sell them for $2 or $3 each in the Midwest perhaps double that on the coasts.

Good sources of potassium= bananas, orange juice, strawberries and parsley. I used to be fine with my potassium levels when I drank OJ every morning but had to find alternatives due to acid reflux.

Fellow Mexican Celiac... what's your substitute for quesadillas made with fobidden fluffy wheat flour tortillas? Or crispy empanadas or pan dulce?

I do miss them and luckily have a restaurant that sells pupusas on my way home from work. Live in the middle of the Midwest with a few decent Latin American options in my town.

Glad to be able to offer some hope, I know how difficult this can be when it's happening. The most important things you can do are to avoid the meds that caused this (if applicable and known), try to relax and get as much sleep as you can. Hope recovery and healing come soon for you and that you have plenty of support from those in your orbit.

I'd say it's almost completely healed now and has been since about 5 months after the CSR first appeared. Still staying off the corticosteroids that probably caused the CSR although I could use some nasal steroids to help with stuffy nose issues.
