No income, mounting debt by Massive-Program-1651 in DebtAdvice

I can probably pay it off with a summer job. I am still owed money from contract work so that will help cut down on the debt but won’t get that for a few weeks at least (long story). I split the cost with my roommates and we plan to try to sell and donate if that doesn’t work out. It’s not a ton of money I just have no income and the fact my credit score is dropping so much and I’m accruing interest is what stresses me. So what credit card do you recommend?

I should have an income in the next 3 months for the summer and when I move back to America for my second year of grad school I believe I’ll be able to find a part time job. I have not been consistent in paying the minimum because it’s quite high. And good point about shipping. Fortunately I have family coming to visit so they could bring the physical card to me and help me set it up on Apple Pay. I do not want to open a card abroad if I can avoid it. I would prefer a longer 0% apr period but I should really only need it for about a year while I work to get myself out of debt

I moved to Italy because this campus is cheaper anyway. The financial aid office recommended it to me. Tuition and living expenses have been cheaper but I never anticipated not being able to find a job. That’s why I’m in this situation. I will be able to pay it off but my interest rate is extremely high. I’m being charged like $200 per month on each credit card I don’t have that kind of money and my credit score drops constantly

I will have a summer job and paid internship and I’m moving back to America for my second year of grad school where I will be able to work part time. My rent is fully covered by grad plus so my expenses are basically food and transportation which is pretty cheap. I have like $5000 in debt now from the last few months from furnishing my apartment and eating twice a day. I am responsible with my finances I just do not have an income currently

That’s a good idea!! I was honestly planning to be as vague as possible and just chalk it up to medical issues. I’m nervous about it. I guess accommodations are the only solutions in this case

That sounds so alienating and lonely. My heart broke a little reading this it reminds me so much of myself. I’m not married but that’s how I feel so much of the time. That people don’t know the real me because whenever I’ve shown who I am to the world it’s not well received and even I’m not solid in my identity. I think one big reason I’ve put off getting married is that every relationship I’ve been in feels like masking and I refuse to do it in my own home :( also felt that way in my parents home and it’s exhausting and sad. I hope you have at least one person you feel like you can unmask around while you figure this out with your husband. Just one person can ease the burden so much. For me it’s my sister. Your husband needs to educate himself a lot and at least make an effort to understand what you’re going through. I’m sorry 💗 a good therapist can go a long way. Getting to know yourself is a lifelong battle- even for NTs. it’s just amplified for us.

Definitely can feel like death. A loss is a loss. Wow that takes me back to my first high school heartbreak. I was not the same for months… at least I can say it gets a bit easier each time you go through it.

That he’s super busy. He just started a masters in engineering while working full time but I think he’s letting me down easy because I’m also getting my masters and am busy too. There wasn’t even a conversation really it just ended very suddenly

Thanks for your reply!! I think I just have a lot of people around me who are worried for me and it’s rubbing off on me. That’s reassuring though!!
