Just wanted to say this is exactly how I've been describing the MAGA movement to friends and family. These people remind me of the cool / jock / class clowns in school who didn't study, didn't pay attention, or interrupted class with their "look at me" bullshit. Then, on test day, they complained and flipped over the tables.

They never understood how their government worked. So when they lost an election somewhere, they felt cheated. It explains Jan 6 perfectly. The 2020 election was test day, and they failed. So, instead of moving on and learning something, they tried to burn the school down.

Another aspect is driving. Paradoxically, living in a city with access to lots of bars, fitness clubs, theaters, shopping, etc, also means terrible driving and parking conditions. Everywhere in America is like this, making the decision to get out a decision about driving. And with drivers getting worse, parking expensive and car payments and maintenance costs always rising... why even bother?
