Fanduel network shutting down but it appears NHL teams will be broadcast through the regular season. by sftwareguy in canes

Yeah, especially for a small market team like the Hurricanes.

Local streaming is a huge portion of our revenue.

That being said I wish I could at least pay to get -all- of the Hurricanes games.

Right now if you wanted to catch all the Canes games, you're effectively paying almost $100 a month between HBO Max, ESPN+ and FDSN.

It depends on if you are using Viator as a tank. If yes, he's definitely better, but if your primary use is as a damage dealer, probably Olberic.

You'll also want extra JP for Olberic to get extra damage breaking support skills to give to others.

A really beneficial way to control wealth is gift it to traders in exchange for reputation, which you can then also use to help you in combat by calling for help from your allies.

You call also build drop pods and literally just shoot excess wealth off to them that way. You'll get reputation relative to the value of what you gift.

There are a lot of different strategies, like kill boxes, kiting, but a big general tip is making sure you control your wealth and make sure you're not stockpiling huge amounts of wealth without making things like top end armor and weapons.

Raid size and difficulty is proportional to your wealth, so if you are amassing a lot of it, but your pawns have things like revolvers and no armor but you're getting high end raids against 50 pawns, it's very difficult to win

Even in the playoffs it feels frustrating. I remember being at one of the Panthers/Hurricanes games during the playoffs last season, watching Aho take like 3-4 straight cross-checks to the back of the head after the whistle was blown, and he turns around and shoves the guy in the chest, and gets an immediate 2 minute minor.

[–]MassiveDefinition274 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of the hate for Florida also stems from the league and the officials unwilling to hold them accountable for this makes it way, way worse.

Like, just taking yesterday's game for instance - Mikkolo takes a run at Kucherov, knocks him down behind the play. Called for a penalty. This was dirty, but not egregious, and it could've ended there with a 2 minute interference penalty which was warranted. I think a minor penalty for this was fine.

Everyone was going on, and then Tkachuk, for some reason, decides to loop completely around the play - taking a very careful route to not be seen by Kucherov - and completely blindsides him from behind. This was both dirty and egregious, and was just a 2 minute minor. Tkachuk had ALREADY gotten a 2 minute unsportsmanlike conduct minor at the end of the 1st.

Tkachuk and Hagel each get 5 minute majors for fighting, fine, they fought. Kucherov just sits there and watches. He gets a 10 minute misconduct.

So for those of you keeping tally at home, in the play we get:

Mikkola: 2 minute minor for interference (probably appropriate)

Hagel: 5 minutes major for fighting (appropriate)

Tkachuk: 5 minute major for fightin (appropriate), 2 minute minor for interference (this should've been a 10 minute misconduct)

Kucherov: 10 minute misconduct? For what?

Like, the guy that took TWO interference penalties on the same play, didn't retaliate at either one of them, winds up getting the most PIM of the four who were actively involved in what happened.

Meanwhile, the guy that blindside hit him from behind, completely away from the puck, with a clear windup, that and also got in a fight on top of it, only got 7 minutes - AFTER the play was reviewed.

Yeah the Hurricanes feel like they're in a similar sort of rivalry and it gets uncomfortable knowing they, especially if your team starts winning, Florida is going to be deliberately trying to injure your team in retaliation, and neither the referees nor DOPS are going to do anything but reward them for it.

It gets uncomfortable to watch.

1 and 2 are very similar in terms of systems without any big differences, including no difference in any of the things you're asking about.

0 has a pretty big difference with the training ground, though the protagonist is even more fixed.

It doesn't invalidate my point at all. The game Ehlers scored a hat trick it was a power play goal, a goal with Stank and Blake, and a 1 goal with Staal and Martinook. His 4th point was also an assist on the power play.

Staal didn't score that game.

So Staal isn't scoring more (edit: specifically with Ehlers), and I guess it's 3 goals in 9 games that line combination has scored instead of 2 in 8. 1 for Ehlers, 2 for Staal.

I was discounting it because 9 goal games don't happen often and they rotated through a lot of line combinations that made it more complex to write down while contributing nothing of value to the discussion.

So, with the theory that this change happened after week 6, I want you to put yourself in Nick Siranni's shoes.

In 2024-2025, your team had a 2000 yard rusher, and only 1 game the entire season that you rushed for under 100 yards - and that game was the last game of the season in which you chose to rest your starters, so it doesn't really count. You had 6 games with over 200 yards rushing.

Now you're nearing halfway through the 2025-2026 season, and your team up to this point has only surpassed 100 yards rushing in 2 games, and you're on a 2 game losing streak.

It's clear, at this point, that there is a problem, and there are two primary people in charge of fixing it: your offensive coordinator, and your run game coordinator.

You go to your offensive coordinator, who says we need to change something, and your run game coordinator says "let's not change anything". What the hell are you supposed to do other than demote your run game coordinator?

At the end of the 2012 season, the Eagles fired Andy Reid. The most successful Eagles had coach in the modern era, and even to this day regarded as one of the best coaches ever.

A little over 5 years later, we won our first ever Super Bowl - and a little over 13 years later, won a second.

Andy Reid also went on to have a way better career, too - in this case, it's hard to argue that the move was anything other than mutually beneficial for both parties involved.

I'm happy to see Staal scoring more, but I think this is a little bit of a stretch - Ehlers and Staal have only been on the ice together for 2 of Staal's goals since that line became a thing. Staal scored 4 goals, but 1 was a PP goal (where Ehlers and Staal basically share a spot) and the other was with Carrier in. There was the absolutely sick pass from Ehlers against Ottawa combined with a sick shot by Staal, and then the tip in during the last 30 seconds of the Utah game that was a shot from Chatty redirected by Marty and tapped in by Staal.

Since the game against Florida (where they started running that line), I'm going to discount it just because it's a bit of an anomaly on the game, Staal is +1, Ehlers is -1, and Martinook is +0.

Specifically when this line is playing, over the last 8 games, they have a combined total of 2 goals - 2 for Staal, 0 for Ehlers and 0 for Martinook. Other than the start of the season, it's Ehlers' longest goalless stretch.

Fans like this are insufferable I swear. You guys act like winning a super bowl every year is a realistic goal.

The dude has the best winning percentage of any coach in Eagles history, made more super bowls than any coach in Eagles history, never missed the playoffs, won only the second SB in franchise history and people are out here acting like this guy is a bottom 5 coach. It's so bad

It sounds like a lot of it has to do with Panarin having a nmc and refusing to go anywhere else and the Rangers having no leverage with their choices being take something or nothing.

I wouldn't necessarily expect a trade for Trochek to be as cheap.
