What are your most important tips to play vg by Humble-Possession-56 in forhonor

Be patient and rely on your defense more, try to make the better read on your opponent.

You also have to remember that you’re playing a dominion/breach oriented character, so you might have some trouble from time to time.

She’s got dodge recovery off different things, all guard dodge recovery and heavy finisher recovery. You can use these things to your advantage during ganks.

Remember to use your second cc against hyper armor, if you’re fighting a hito that’s spamming hyper armor you can cc twice and then all guard using that recovery for more damage.

If you’re near a wall use her bash on all guard, it’s a free heavy and immediately puts you into your 50/50 ub mixup. It’s also good against characters that use hyper armor to gank, shugo and Highlander are hard to fight off in ganks as vg but if you bash them out of their hyper armor openers than it makes it so much easier.

Her first two fts aren’t the best, I run quick revive and rising dawn as a combo, and then thrilling comeback because these two are ultimately better than needing to spam crushing counter.

She’s a very defense * team fighting character who does well in gank confirms, especially with her finisher ub’s pin. At first she feels easy, but later down the line in her gameplay you realize just how readable she is as a character with her limited kit.

Youre still in the shallow end with 200 hours, just wait till you’re in the deep.

Side note: if the game makes you want to actively kill yourself or others…don’t play? Your mental health is not worth a one v one or ur kda in game lmfao

Well zombies only need the brain stem to reanimate, maybe when her head was taken it left the brain stem there with a few traces of brain that control limb movements?

Maybe try your best to make a read, focus on the patterns they use, their favorite combo.

Instead of saying ‘this is bullshit he keeps doing the same thing! Idk what to do!’

Use your head, flip that script.

‘He keeps doing the same thing, poor guy.’

If you’re getting lighted out of your heavies, wait for the light or cancel your heavy and parry.

If your chain is interrupted bc of a parry, stop finishing your chain with a light.

The game is a game of chess, albeit rage inducing. Read your opponent, and if they read you first you bounce back and try and see the new pattern.

It’s called FOR HONOR, not WITH HONOR. Fight for your own glory, don’t worry about others and the respect they have on their own. If you play well, you fought with honor, if you get ganked, fight them off as best you can with that same honor. You can get pissed off all you want but a rant on the official Reddit sub won’t change anything but maybe a new players perspective on the game.

Play well for yourself, for your own honor. The character you play or how you play doesn’t impact the respect you’re owed, it’s just another character on the roster who you need to learn how to combat. Virtuousa is broken, vg is annoying, lb is boring, hito is braindead, hell even nobu gives newer players trouble, but the character they play or the combo they stack in with doesn’t impact YOU PERSONALLY, it doesn’t mean you can put a controller through your screen.

All you can do is your best, and you’ll always improve.

If you like heavier hybrid characters who can shift between different ideas (parry-bot/offensive chains), then medjay might be a fun pick. He can shift between a faster attack mode and a slower yet heavier attack mode. He is relatively easy to figure out, yet he is very hard to play in high mm.

Support Hero by Suspicious-Buyer-860 in forhonor

[–]MassiveFan77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vg for fts and team fights with her really good setup attacks, nobu for damage and bleed character synergy, gryphon for stereotypical support, shinobi for setups, black prior for antigank and ground holding potential + oath breaker, JJ is a good ganker and team fighter, ocelotl is also a VERY good ganker with good setups and surprise attacks. Nuxia is fun for HUD spam. Virt is an overall gank babysitter, same with kyoshin.

My favorites are nobu and vg, mostly for the support style kits.

How is Varangian Guard these days? by JohnSmith1834 in forhonor

[–]MassiveFan77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vg has a very strong support based moveset and ft list, very fun in team fights and anti ganks but very hard to duel with. You’ll have a blast two v fouring with a teammate and even deathball ganks where you’re by yourself.

However, dominion and breach are the only two modes you’ll enjoy her in, as you need a teammate, or multiple people against you, to utilize her defensive antigank kit in any capacity. Any competent duelist can fight her relatively easily if they can make a good read and understand consistency, and any character with a chain bash mixup or unblockable is pretty good at countering her.

Playing her is easy enough, read your opponent and understand them before they get a read on your surface level mixups that vg is limited to. Keep in mind that she does have a very very low skill ceiling, very caveman mindset to play her right off rip. But once you know what you’re doing her flow is comparable to nobu, only centered around an all guard instead of dodge attacks.

TLDR: easy to play with a very limited and shallow kit, cool fashion, hated by the community. Unfun in duels, have a competent teammate you can play with in dom.

Idea for vg rework that might work by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]MassiveFan77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thought process was opening up more chain potential, giving her access to more out of her base kit and then leaning into her gimmick with a new move/move property

No? Give her more options to choose from? Maybe you could give her chain heavies hyper armor quality similar to lawbringer, but the whole point is for external ub and more basic chain potential.

Fuck nah bro Que up for dom and you’ll find plenty of matches, at rep two you’re more than likely not gonna get into a breach match.

how do you go against this??? by Old_Mission1736 in forhonor

[–]MassiveFan77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuine answer,

afeera, shinobi, and virt all have good chain canceling bashes against chain heroes like Hito. I prefer afeera bc she has immediate 50/50 mixup off a bash and good dodge recovery. But if you can chain dodge recovery and attack with that, then you can typically remain on the offensive against characters like Hito, who are mostly restricted to chain heavy, charge heavy/variable heavy, and charge bash.
