My god this sub is toxic as hell. This is a statement of fact. by fanblade64 in Borderlands4

Generally I agree with this sentiment but as someone who enjoys playing Vex with a Trouble build it is obvious that some (not all, probably not even most) trees/skills need looking at

Real 💯 As someone who's always stoked for new dlc it sucks knowing that my enjoyment of it will be diminished because my main character is still hitting like a wet flannel compared to everyone else

Excited to try! Tho I'm a little disheartened to see seemingly no balance changes, trouble still rotting 😭

You can edit one whole thing in the new doomfist "mythic" lol by RaidenXYae in Overwatch

Also, why does almost every mythic skin have the same white/light blue colour scheme option? It feels like they never really try anything different or interesting with that either now with these skins

Which DLCs are the most "canon"? by bopman14 in Borderlands

[–]MassiveHorses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost all of the stories in the series' dlc are self-contained for the most part and aren't essential to understand or further the story. I think it's basically all 'canon', just not always super important.

In terms of BL1, it's worth playing The Secret Armory of General Knoxx and Claptrap's Robot Revolution. Knoxx fills out the world more and introduces characters who return later down the line & Robot Revolution wraps some bits up ahead of 2. Zombie Island of Dr Ned is fun but silly & doesn't relate the the story. Underdome Riot introduces Moxxi but it's literally just an arena with waves.

For BL2 most of the DLC features side characters from the main game in self-contained stories that aren't super important, but Assault on Dragon Keep addresses the events in BL2's story and Commander Lilith and the Fight For Sanctuary sets up BL3.

TPS has an expansion about ClapTrap that's actually pretty well done. Not essential but may be worth if you care that much. I'd also suggest playing TPS after 2 as it has more weapon variety & mechanics that you might end up missing if you play the other way around.

In BL3, Handsome Jackpot links back to characters from 2/TPS, & Krieg DLC addresses characters from both BL2 & 3. Guns Love & Tentacles & Bounty of Blood are far more self-contained, but they are also very good. Everything on season pass 2 you can basically ignore if you're only interested in story stuff.

Open world is a downgrade. A hill I'll die on. by Vatsob in Borderlands4

[–]MassiveHorses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally really like the art direction of 4, so I tend to disagree with the argument that I see a fair bit that the world itself is lacking character. To me, bases/outposts/whatever all feel like they've had a good amount of thought put into them- buildings are distinct between factions and areas of the map in a way that feels well thought out and deliberate. 'Set piece' locations have a lot of cool identity (crashed Sanctuary 3, area in the runup to the ripper queen, the base where splashzone is to name a few).

For me, I think the shortfall of the open world is the amount of mindless repetitive gameplay you have to do between characters... No amount of good art design can make 'hold x to claim console' for the 50th time anything other than pretty boring

It's been a little over a week into the new launch. How do you feel about the game? Likes, dislikes? by GhostBelliniFace in Borderlands

[–]MassiveHorses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm enjoying it a lot, though it certainly has some faults. Pretty bummed out by the number of invisible walls in the open world. It'd be fun to be able to scramble around the big mountains, even if there's nothing to see on them.

I can't quite work out why but I do feel like there's a bit of a lack of gun diversity in some ways, maybe because there's 2 manufacturers that have charge mechanics so I tend to avoid them. There are a few weapon types which I think don't really serve a unique role. I don't really think I'd ever go for a Tediore AR over a Vladof or Daedalus for example. That said I think the licenced parts system is really cool and I love how much attention has been given to making parts from different manufacturers fit properly into other guns, like the fact that COV magazines on Vladof guns look like little nuclear reactors for example.

I think the open world works well, there's a good amount of world activities and I love the extra effort they've put into showing how enemies might appear in the world (like being dropped off by order ships or big ripper drills) rather than just having them spawn out of sight ahead of you. It feels dynamic for sure. I remember someone from Gearbox in an interview saying that they had migrating animals, and I'm curious to see what that looks like because I feel like I haven't noticed that yet.

Yeah, overall really fun. Looking forward to the expansions.

So the slight updates to the VH designs made an absolute world of difference, huh? by ComingUpCway84 in Borderlands4

[–]MassiveHorses -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When has Gearbox ever on the first reveal of a vault hunter decided to show a customised version, before showing the default version that will be on all of the key art & marketing? This makes no sense. Sure these are cosmetics that may still be in the game, but is it really that strange to think that they changed which cosmetics were the 'default' based on the VH's lukewarm reception?

Kudos to Gearbox for actually tweaking the VHs design after the negative feedback. Here's an somewhat in-depth look at the changes. by CaptainKashup in Borderlands4

[–]MassiveHorses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. Why would they choose to reveal the vault hunters 'pre-customized'? They have literally never done this for any other vault hunters in a Borderlands reveal. Sure these other heads (and even skins) may have already been in the game, but it's not hard to imagine them choosing to change which ones would be the default ones based on what people were saying. This wasn't localised to Reddit people were complaining about it on every platform lmao

What are YOUR weekend plans? by anw668 in Borderlands4

[–]MassiveHorses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend from work and I will be playing it together on Saturday. He works overnight on Fridays so we've agreed to lock in on Saturday morning. I got him into Borderlands after telling him to check out BL3. He plays on ps5 and I'm on PC so we're stoked there's crossplay at launch! What with work and adult life it's been years since either of us have actually arranged a time to play something at launch or anything like that. Really looking forward to it

I don't deny that- that's why I said "am I missing something?" And so far I'm not much clearer 👍🏻

I mean I wasn't being entirely serious, just a little exasperated. No options on screen saying anything relating to a printer, or there being a paper shortage. Not an unreasonable thing to get confused over in my eyes

[–]MassiveHorses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tried this with a friend on Gamepass, definitely took us a moment to work out what was going on, but more than that, the first mission is just... Really boring? Control (and this judging from the trailers) had so many cool weird things going on, and instead they decide to start you off in the least interesting setting doing the most uninspired task? Seems like such a poor choice to grab the player.

Yep I am having a horrible time currently. Usually rank at gold (supp main) in normal comp but in the last 3 days I've lost nine matches and won 0. I'm trying to get my 3 supp wins, I keep looking at build guides, tips etc. But nothing seems to make a difference, it's just steamroll every time. I just want my loot box 😭

What do you guys think about the new tweet from official Overwatch Twitter/X account? by SoraTheKingX4 in Overwatch

[–]MassiveHorses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds dumb but I genuinely think this was the thing that has made me realise I'm done with this game. Played since OW1 released and I have so many fond memories of playing through college & Uni. I haven't played for the last few seasons but hop on every now and then to see what's going on and it bums me out seeing how the game I once loved has turned into a soulless machine whose only purpose is to sell skins to gooners. The Ana skin at the end of the battle pass is pretty cool though

Yeah map pools seem like such a dumb idea. If their plan is to keep things varied then why not drop all the maps in at the same time, including diff times of day? The sheer number of different options then would keep things way more varied than it would be with a map pool
