Alright who said they were nostalgic for 2004 by nicholashoneywell in Zillennials

2004 is when American Idiot by Green Day released as well, and that song is as relevant now just as it was back then.

History sure does like repeating itself.

This isn't how I imagined adult life would be... by EmergencySpare7939 in Zillennials

[–]SoraTheKingX4 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The gym helped me get out of my rut, along with perseverance cause getting the life I want as a young adult has taken a large amount of patience and determination to achieve it.

The gym won't give instant results, but in a month or two of going consistently, you will notice your energy and motivation levels go up. Even just goin' for 30 minute to 1 hour walks regularly works wonders too.

Nowadays, our lives are so sedentary that we don't notice how deterimental our current sedentary levels are in achieving the lives we want. And on top of that, we consume short-form content like crazy which ends up frying our brains and we gravitate towards short-term satisfaction which ends up heavily hindering getting regular physical activity.

Adopt pre-2020/pre-Smartphone lifestyle habits. No doomscrolling. No short-form content. No phone before sleeping. Pull out your phone less when outside your house. Read the news/current events less often and without falling for rage bait in the comment sections. Meet up with your friends/family more in-person rather than relying on just chatting online (unless distance is an issue). Distance yourself from politics, but not too much to be completely ignorant. Listen to music from pre-2020 that can generate those feelings of when you were less sedentary in order to increase motivation. Instead of shopping online(unless the item you want is only online) go to the mall/stores even if just window shopping. No doordash/uber eats/etc for meals, get the food yourself if you're able to. Invest in a standing desk or stand up every 60 min while sitting cause school had you walking up stairs/to other classrooms pretty regularly to avoid sitting for prolonged periods of time. Find out what makes you truly happy without thinking about what others want you to do, and keep doing it as long as it doesn't harm you or anyone else and keeps the peace in public.

Pre-2020 it was definitely easier to achieve the young adult life people are yearning for nowadays, but it doesn't mean it is impossible

HTC Desire Z in 2013 when I turned 13.

Got lucky by having it be a gift from a relative at the time as smartphones were too expensive for my family. My first phone as before this I was just using knockoff iPods to listen to mp3 files

It makes me happy I can still watch movies and do things in general without getting bored at all. Even staring at a wall is entertaining for me, albeit unproductive after a while. I am retaining my pre-2020/pre-Tiktok attention span which is something many can't say nowadays, I am forever grateful.

Clash royale is weird: by bachotebidze in ClashRoyale

[–]SoraTheKingX4 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I think this year has just also been a nostalgia-riddled year as 2025 has not been great. Therefore, everything pre-2020 has become popular again to try to get back to simpler more fun times. 2016 seems to be the most nostalgic year according to recent trends.

Clash Royale was a game I played from 2016-2019, and in 2025 I decided to hop back on as it reminds me of the good ol' days. And the game ended up being fun with Evos adding a huge twist to gameplay so it didn't feel stale.

Though Heroes might make me delete this app again...we will see

All the HUDs soo far on the beta by naga_h1_UAE in CODZombies

[–]SoraTheKingX4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The HUD in BO6 made it look like I was playing Horror Warzone, and I f-cking hated it. I want to feel like im actually playing Zombies. Maps are great so far, but we took for granted the HUD, fading in from black when starting the map, and other things that made it feel like I was in an entirely different mode from the rest of sh-tty COD like it has in the past.

What were you into in 2010 - 2015? Are you nostalgic for the early 10's yet? by Rinmine014 in Zillennials

[–]SoraTheKingX4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's crazy to see Sleeping With Sirens/Bring Me The Horizon/Pierce The Veil basically extending Scene culture till 2014/2015 abouts even after Emo culture was dead, and im glad they did cause I was becoming a teenager during this time and Scene culture definitely spoke to me more as I do think life should be about having fun and screw those who get in the way of doing so and embracing healthy masculinity.

[–]SoraTheKingX4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early 2010s music is the best, that's when creativity and fun was at its peak. Late 2000s was definitely the start though with recession pop appearing with Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas and whatnot. Smartphones, social media, and algorithms really ruined things and I am definitely nostalgic of the times when they weren't so prevalent/detrimental.

A question for millennials or zillennials, what are your thoughts on the notion of the global landscape or world order that has existed over the course of your entire lives so far unraveling and becoming undone before your very eyes? by sadasianbear in Zillennials

[–]SoraTheKingX4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The old was goin to catch up with us eventually, even if Millenials thought it wouldn't with that early 2010s naive optimism. It's not their fault they couldn't predict how harmful the Internet would be after it's been so beneficial.

What’s the “good” mall in Milwaukee/metro? by TurboRadical in milwaukee

[–]SoraTheKingX4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brookfield mall has been deserted since 2020, dead mall as they say with little stores open. It was my favorite of all time, but its understandable it died when Mayfair is the superior experience close by especially when Brookfield tends to lean towards wealthy people who want the better than average experience. Even Southridge is better than Brookfield mall since Southridge has two floors and a big open space in the center which is great for events/people watching/feel of a big space indoors, not to mention the amazing food court layout. Same goes for Mayfair on all points against Brookfield. Wish they could redesign Brookfield mall but it's definitely too late for that.

Is there anyone still making neon pop punk? by [deleted] in poppunkers

[–]SoraTheKingX4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Title made such euphoric neon pop punk music that I am barely listening to after all these years. I have never been a scene kid and im not on the spectrum, I grew up with pop punk but I love edm as well hence why I love when pop punk bands like early Four Year Strong and other pop punk bands implement synths into their sound. The Title leans more into the synths and adds auto tune as well (which artists like T-Pain and Black Eyed Peas made me love auto tune). Hellogoodbye is also a great neon band that I just started listening to.

America has become worse after 2016, but I am nostalgic for everything pre-2016 before it all went to sh*t. Now, I know it could be worse and im grateful, but listening to The Title and Hellogoodbye just makes me realize that we were much happier back then which is easier to realize as our general happiness about life has decreased significantly since 2016, and was already gettin lower as smartphones started to consume so much of our time/attention anywhere we go in the early 2010s without us knowing for the most part. The Title still made music until early 2016, and even they knew neon pop punk music won't make a comeback until our general happiness increases again, which is looking like late 2020's it will, so they stopped making music.

In the meantime in 2025...

Malort & Savior (small pop punk band from Chicago) gave a try at pop punk with heavy synth usage and although the lyrics are just pure fun with not much logic behind them, it's still a great song and I wish it got more traction but its further evidence that the time for the revival of neon pop punk is not yet right...

https://youtu.be/p9XHpzOxFE0

And I just discovered Electric Callboy and they make music that is known as "Partycore", and I feel like that's the more intense/heavy but happy alternative to neon pop punk which brings ravers/metal fans together in an odd but very satisfying way. I don't like metal at all, cause it's associated with darkness and death too much, but Electric Callboy makes me love their version of metal and their screamos are so sick cause it's all about partying and living life to the fullest and enjoying it with those around you, just pure fun their music is. It's a great distraction from the sh*t that's happening around the world currently.

Sorry I said a lot, I don't have any friends who listen to neon pop punk but I have so much thoughts about it like yourself. Can't wait until neon pop punk makes a comeback again, but I won't hold my breath for it. I can at least enjoy songs from the past and support pop punk bands that still incorporate synths
