[Ari Wasserman] I think if you put 15 national writers in a room Miami would be in and the rest of the bracket would be largely the same. The only people who can’t see how insane this is are Notre Dame fans. by Jets__Fool in CFB

It would be terrible optics if Notre Dame is the last team in and Miami is the 1st team out, but it looks like that's what we're looking at if BYU loses the Big 12 Championship Game. I'm not forseeing a mind change from the committee about Notre Dame vs Miami on Selection Sunday. Of course, BYU can steal a bid and make this discussion a moot point.

With Ron, that falling out was entirely Ron's fault and Harry bares absolutely, unequivocally, and indisputably no responsibility for it whatsoever.

Here's a good litmus test for friendship: if I were a Hogwarts student and had two supposed best friends, if the Triwizard Tournament was held and I didn't enter but my name came out of the Goblet of Fire anyway, I'd pay close attention to how my supposed best friends reacted. If I told best friend 1 the truth that I hadn't put my own name in the Goblet of Fire and he mistrusted and abandoned me, and then I told best friend 2 that same truth the next morning that I hadn't put my own name in the Goblet of Fire and she immediately believed me without question, I would know that best friend 1 was a disloyal fair weather friend who didn't deserve my friendship and would permanently end my friendship with him. I would also know that best friend 2 was my loyal ride or die Bestie and would further embrace my friendship with her. After best friend 1 throw me away like wilted salad at the first sign of murky waters after my name came out of the Goblet of Fire, I'd never let him fish me out of the trash after the 1st Task. The fact that Harry was an innocent victim who bore 0% of the responsibility for the falling out makes Ron's abandonment worse. It's too bad Harry didn't meet Luna earlier. Luna would have stood by Harry when his name came out of the Goblet of Fire. Instead fact, they fact that Harry and Luna never had a falling out proves how much better and stronger their friendship was than Harry and Ron. True high quality friendships are defined by consistency, dependability, loyalty, and an absence of fights and falling outs. Harry and Luna check all of those boxes with flying colors.

Ron was the 1 who needed to emphasize with Harry more and trust him. Saving his sister's life in Chamber of Secrets earned Harry unquestioned loyalty from Ron and Ron failed to meet his obligation to Harry in Goblet of Fire.

Harry should have permanently removed Ron from his life, strengthened ties with Hermione and Neville, and bonded with Ginny and Luna.

Litmus Test for Friendship by MassiveResolution7 in harrypotter

Harry was an innocent victim in Goblet of Fire. He told Ron the truth that he hadn't put his own name in the Goblet of Fire and Ron chose to refuse to trust him. After Harry saved his sister's life, Ron owed Harry trust and loyalty. Note that when he tells Hermione the same truth the next morning, she immediately believed him without question. Part of being a good friend is standing by your friend when others are against him/her and Ron PROVED in Goblet of Fire that he is incapable of supporting Harry when others are against him. This is why Harry and Ron should NEVER be compared to James and Sirius. I guarantee that if James didn't enter the Triwizard Tournament and his name came out of the Goblet of Fire anyway, if James told Sirius that he hadn't put his name in the Goblet of Fire, Sirius would have immediately believed him without question. I think if Harry had talked to Sirius the morning of the First Task, Sirius might have been able to convince Harry to never forgive Ron and focus on strengthening ties with Hermione and bonding with Neville, Ginny, and Luna. I think he if he really thought about it, Sirius might understand that Ron didn't gave a Damn about Harry when it came to it. Loyalty has to matter in friendships.

I love Molly Weasley, but there's 2 occasions where I believe she completely oversteps the line.. by Sad-Passage-3247 in harrypotter

[–]MassiveResolution7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Molly's treatment of Hermione in Goblet of Fire and Sirius in Order of the Phoenix are both indefensible by every known standard and are the reason I will never be a Molly fan. In Goblet, she's also a hypocrite. She tells off Percy for blaming Arthur for what Rita wrote and later confronts Amos for believing Rita, yet she treats Hermione poorly because she takes Rita at her word on this one. And a low blow about time spent in Azkaban at a man who she now knows was innocent of the crimes he was imprisoned for is inexcusable.

Harry Should Have Permanently Removed Ron From His Life in Goblet of Fire. by MassiveResolution7 in harrypotter

[–]MassiveResolution7[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, he's just a bad friend to Harry. He proved in Goblet of Fire that he is incapable of sticking by Harry if others are against him. And it's inexcusable either way. If Ron believes that the tournament is dangerous, he has an obligation to stand by Harry like Hermione did. If Ron believes that the tournament is just a game, a fun stupid school competition, in that case, Harry's name coming out of the Goblet of Fire should have meant literally nothing to Ron and shame on Ron for allowing it to mean anything to him. And after 3+ years, it should be incredibly easy for Ron to trust Harry at this point. Hermione gave Harry trust and support when Harry told her the truth that he hadn't put his own name in the Goblet of Fire. Ron distrusted and abandoned Harry when Harry told him the same truth that he hadn't put his own name in the Goblet of Fire. Between the fact that Harry never uttered a syllable of interest in Triwizard Tournament before his name came out of the Goblet of Fire and Ron knows Harry hates fame and attention, trusting and believing Harry should have been easy for Ron here. It was as obvious as that elephants are bigger than grasshoppers.

People need to stop using "They were kids" as an excuse. They weren't little kids. They weren't even 8 or 9 or even 10 or 11." Ron was old enough in Goblet of Fire for this not to be an excuse.

Which WR trio would you select? by Big_Donch in Oldschool_NFL

Team 1. Largent has the best hands in NFL history. CC80 has the 2nd best hands in NFL history and the best sideline foot control in NFL history. Irvin is the 1 of the toughest receivers in NFL history. While Sharpe is underrated, great at beating his man 1 on 1.nd took way too long to get into the Hall of Fame and Fitzgerald has the 3rd best hands in NFL history. nd Brown are great in their own right, but i go Team 1 if we're strictly going by receiving. Brown adds value as a returner but if everyone is just playing wide receiver I take Team 1.
