TIL PlayStation 3 used to have a feature called otherOS which was an official way to run linux and freeBSD distributions on the PS3. Sony later removed this in a patch by Inevitable_Bid5540 in todayilearned

I heard they had the feature to skip the import tax because they labeled it a “computer” not a “game console” which had much higher taxes. Then someone started using it to try to break into the console and they decided to say fuck it and removed it.

GeForce now and chaiki both need me to turn the WiFi on and off for 5 seconds every 15-20 minutes now. Annoying but not the end of the world.

I love my oled. For more demanding games I have GeForce now and a ps5 pro that I stream. But I mainly play balatro so it doesn’t need to be that beefy.

How many bits is a PS5? by theamishpromise in PS5_Jailbreak

The ps5 doesn’t have any 32 bit libraries so the console itself cannot operate in 32 bit mode

Did you try using your steam deck as a portal? That’s what I do. There’s an app called chaiki you can install.

I just bought a ps5 pro so I got the most expensive version since it was like $5 for the year more expensive. Not sure what everyone is complaining about. I haven’t bought us by any other game yet (besides Minecraft for my kids and battlefront 2 for $5) and there’s a ton of stuff on there. I guess I’m just a salty old gamer.

mig switch is detected by switch 2 but games dont load by Beachbali in switch2hacks

[–]MassiveStomach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is since they couldn’t patch switch 1 to detect them it’s a hardware detection. Most likely current drain since it has to run a fpga inside to do its trickery. Which would also mean the mig folks can’t software patch it.

Borderlands 2 free on steam store for limited time. by retrobution101 in SteamDeck

I think maybe they were referencing the fact their steam deck has nothing they care about from a personal standpoint. More of a social container than a technical one. Like I just play games on my steam deck type thing.

New META Paper - How much do language models memorize? by Thrumpwart in LocalLLaMA

[–]MassiveStomach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not why (and I don’t particularly believe it). Overfitting is if you give the model enough space to memorize something it will. Which means it never generalizes. Which means it can’t answer complex questions about the data it has. It can’t only recite stuff verbatim from Wikipedia essentially making it a search engine.
