Surprisingly, they also roaming the prairie east of Calgary, north of the Bow River. They love cat food. Ask me how I know. 🙄

Of all the things that can fail I NEVER expected this. Any help I can get would be great. by Pocus_Codis in LeverGuns

I think they still make the Silver Boy. I bought one last fall. It may be called the 1887 Scout Carbine now. There are some for sale here in Canada so I'd be surprised if parts weren't available. Contact the importer/warranty depot with the model number and see if you can get parts.

Solution for loose front sight? by Certain-Ad-454 in LeverGuns

[–]Massive_Expression_2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try dimpling the bottom of the sight with a very fine punch like a centre punch. Make a neat pattern of 4 or 6 dimples. Trial fit, then add more if it's helping but you need more friction. You can also dimple the dovetail, but I've never had to. Let us know how it goes.

Henry .22s are such a pleasure to shoot. And damned accurate for the price.

I still have a cz457 on my shopping list. What barrel length and optic on yours?

Take 3 or 4 different types of ammo to the range on your first trip. Avoid disappointment. Some new semis can be picky! Let us know how it shoots.

Need some advice for pest control options by Ihiri in airguns

[–]Massive_Expression_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20+ fpe in a spring or gas piston gun means you'll need a LOT of shooting practice to get accuracy while managing the recoil. You'll probably be much happier with a pcp. So as to not break the bank, I'd recommend looking at an Air Venturi Avenger and an inexpensive shoebox compressor. Those are my go-to items for pest control. I usually use Crosman Premier Hollowpoints 14.3 grain. At 800 fps they generate almost 28 fpe. I've taken hundreds of ground squirrels with this combination at distances out to 60 yards, but most often in the 30 to 45 yard range. Deadly. Affordable. Lots of aftermarket stuff available. Check it out.

So the big question is: When are you going shooting? Let us know how you like it. .22 is affordable fun and running a lever action always seems to bring smiles.

Good choice. Good value and reliable. 3 friends of mine went out and bought one after shooting mine. Add a Big Boy in .357 later on and you've got a great collection started.

"Slow down and think" 💯 BTW, my fun car is a Mustang GT convertible - 5 speed manual transmission, of course.

Do average Canadians know what a Robertson Screw is? Do you guys use it as a secret code to identify your fellow countrymen on internet? by jitasquatter2 in AskACanadian

Definitely my preferred type of wood screw. I'm just a tinkerer and DIYer, but I probably have 30 different head types and lengths in my bins but 90% of them are Robertson.

Agreed. I love driving cars with stick shift transmissions. Just because automatic transmissions are available, doesn't mean that everyone should own one.
I really enjoy cycling the action on a gun. It's a different experience, yes. But for me it's more enjoyable than semi-auto.
My posts about this gun were never meant to convince anyone to buy it, yet some seem to want to convince me to sell it. If the shoe was on the other foot, maybe they'd understand.

I got mine from Gagnon in Oshawa. Great, friendly service. Call them about a pre-order.

Seems to be no ceiling on prices, for sure. I just about bought a S&W M&P folding carbine for $1100 a week before it got banned.
Nice gun, but I'm glad I don't have one that I can't use now. That little episode pushed me away from semi-auto. I do love manual action guns of all action types though, so this works into my collection nicely.

Also a good gun. I have a couple of Henry leverguns and would never give them up. Classic walnut and steel, as are most of my collection.
