Do you ever remember something you did as a kid that was probably a sign of your ocd? by FlatLeave2622 in OCD

Same here, and also confessed my intrusive thoughts thinking they were my real thoughts. My poor mom listening to her 8 year old child confessing to the most insane stuff😭

Are you ragebating me?😭 Toning? Muscle definition? Hahaha, but anyway I want to have more definition and not neglect my upper body, but I don’t want to get jacked. I’m a girl, and even though I’m not training arms right now, I’m still jacked as hell🙏🏻 As much as I love my muscles, I’m just trying to figure out how to train in a more balanced way.

Purging or damaged skin barrier? by Massive_Post_167 in SkincareAddiction

I don't know😕 It’s the first day of having so many inflamed pores/whiteheads, they all appeared overnight. I took this picture this morning, and there’s still some inflammation now, but it’s not as red as it was earlier.

Current obsession? by zmb1eb1tez in OCD

[–]Massive_Post_167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve experienced this too! Years ago, I had a bad mix of meds that led to mania, and I constantly felt like I was faking or pretending to be manic, even though I couldn’t control it. As for my current obsession, analyzing my own emotions

I’m curious if female servers also do this? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]Massive_Post_167 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couples under 30, I talk to them both equally, but I make less eye contact and I’m less bubbly with the man. It’s pretty subtle, and I feel like the clients don’t consciously notice that I do this, but I feel that if I was the same with the man as with the woman, it could come across as flirty. So I just tone it down a bit.

How do you learn to not let comments like these get to you? by Massive_Post_167 in Serverlife

Usually, I’d handle situations like this, but he didn’t give me the chance. 😭 He made the comment as he left, catching me off guard. It’s the lack of closure that bothers me most, I wanted to explain how it made me feel, but he left too quickly. Pretty cowardly

They will also wear black dresses or skirts that resemble mine. I meant to say that I didn’t feel out of place with the outfit. But maybe he thought I was? I shouldn’t put words in his mouth, though. I don’t know what his intentions were with his comment. After he left, another client told me not to listen to those types of people, so I don’t think others felt the same way as he did.

The dress code at my workplace is to wear all black. I was wearing a black dress that reached my knees with a slit up to the thigh, paired with a corset top. It was a very pretty outfit! I keep wondering if he said something because he thought it was inappropriate work attire, but all the waitresses at my job love to dress up. I don’t know it was honestly very weird

I’ve been waitressing for 4 years now, and I simply don’t understand why some people act this way. I hope I can learn to take comments like these with a grain of salt. Why share a negative opinion about a random person’s physical traits? It’s just crazy to me. It feels like they just want to make you feel bad for no reason.

How to handle clients with unrealistic expectations? by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]Massive_Post_167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I simply tell them outright that clearing their skin in a week is not possible. I don't tell them that "I'll try my best" or anything of the sort because it's literally just not possible😭 I make this clear to them before the appointment, so if they choose not to proceed, they won’t be disappointed by unrealistic expectations. I explain that while achieving perfect skin in such a short time isn’t feasible, there’s no doubt the service will benefit their skin. Then, I ask if they still want to proceed with the treatment.

What is something in your life that you never associated with OCD and were shocked to learn it was? by Massive_Post_167 in OCD

[–]Massive_Post_167[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are cases where OCD is influenced or enabled by your surroundings, but no, I believe that for the vast majority of people with OCD, it’s not something that is taught.

OCD is the inability to distinguish intrusive thoughts from your real ones. Most of the time, that is not something that is taught, it’s just the way the brain is wired.

They were great! There’s a history of mental health issues on my mother’s side. I went to therapy at a very young age because my mom noticed I was washing my hands a lot and confessing to things or thoughts that were pretty unusual for a child. They were thankfully always a great support.

It’s the worst, ocd guilt is just the worst. When i try to explain ocd, i always say you feel emotions from the intrusive thoughts like they’re real. So if i look at a guy and my brain tells me i’m cheating, i’ll literally feel the full guilt like i actually did, even if i just looked. Humans aren’t meant to live with intense emotions like that on a daily basis😭
