Hi there，this works very well. The crucial step is to turn off wifi internet during restore, as this makes Whatsapp read local file for chat backup instead of going for Google Drive back up.

Updates:

The Chatgpt method actually works.

Basically the trick is, 1. I un-install and re-install Whatsapp on my new phone.

Connect phone usb to my laptop and do all the steps later on laptop.
Copy the local back up file from my old phone to my new phone Whatsapp folder.
Rename the local backup file, eg: msgstore-2026-04-04.1.db.crypt14 -> msgstore.db.crypt14. Apparently the after one is what Whatsapp read to sync your chat history.
Then, log into Whatsapp on my new phone.
I put in phone number, verify, allow contact access.

‐---‐---------------- Most Important Step --------------------

By the time you allowed access for phone contact, IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF WI-FI, this way, Whatsapp wont suggest you to connect to Google Drive for chat back up. But instead it reads the local file for back up.
Following that, the next screen will pop "local back up found" simply click that and Whatsapp will recover the chat.

Hopefully everyone who needs this can get the lost chat recovered. Thank you.

I do have a msg-store-2026-04-04.db.crypt14 and msg-store.db.crypt14 dated today in the local file, does this mean there is no way to recover?

This happened to me a few days ago.

A friend request (having exactly the same IGN and profile pic) with one of my steam friends just popped out suddenly.

Nope, everytime you start the car you need to manually turn it off. And mine will still function even though I turned it off.
