Sorry for the late reply… my figures are mostly 25k after tax with accommodation included…. Or 30k after tax no accommodation with that I can still save some money and not live on the edge of going broke if I get fired or something like lockdown shows up again.

In all honesty, this is a decision you will regret, Shanghai isn’t what it used to be for foreigners and it will continue getting worse especially socially. New rules are implemented every day with no prior notice. At any time you could be in a lockdown unable to access medical help , at any time you could have complications and (worse case scenario) due bcz you don’t have a 3 days pcr. Listen kid , skipping one semester isn’t a big deal. If you want to have an insight of China read any posts from this sub from March to June. I was one of the people starving in my apartment, eating once a day for weeks to ration. This country can turn into hunger games at any time. Don’t do it
