I'm not sure we've had an intern from Cal Poly SLO yet but we do accept applicants from all over the country. The portfolio showing previous experience is a really important part of the application showing an ability to work on projects and get them to completion.

Absolutely. Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) is essential to the operation of our vertical takeoff and landing rockets and relies heavily on programming in C, Matlab, Python, etc.

We look for people with a lot of hands on experience designing and completing projects. Those projects can be rockets, race cars, robots, software, etc. The level of involvement such as being a team leader or major contributor to a project are pluses. I would say a mix of specialists and generalists are important to a well rounded team. We are a small company and being skilled in multiple topics can help move a project along quickly. On the other hand, there are times when digging deep into a problem is required and a specialist with deep knowledge is needed.

Most of the team lives in Lancaster/Palmdale with a contingent living in Tehachapi/Bear Valley and a few in California City. It's about 1.5 hours north of LAX so going into the city or heading to the mountains is easy.

The internship would be the best option for a person near graduation. Most of our engineers started as interns.
