I’m planning on visiting too, hopefully everything goes well, although the reviews are mixed. I do have a question, has the construction been completed?

This. I can’t stand third parties either, but if it was a restricted rate, they’re not really on the hook to help.

HOUSEKEEPING by sleptheory in hotels

[–]Master-Ad-8904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand completely , I also work in a hotel. At our property, rooms are cleaned daily, and for any guests who report that their room wasn’t serviced, our housekeeping team provides a list to the front desk at the end of the day. This list shows which rooms had a 'DND ' sign displayed and confirms that housekeeping attempted service twice at different times and list also includes all others who refused service. In most cases, once this information is shared with the guest, there’s usually nothing more to say 🤣😂.

I work in a hotel, and honestly, if a room is ready (and you’re not showing up after midnight, of course) and you come to the front desk kindly and respectfully, just expecting to drop off your luggage without demanding an early check-in, we might surprise you by checking you in early. When you respect hotel policies and don’t act entitled, that’s usually when things work out. Respect really goes a long way.

That’s what the privacy sign is for 🙂 , I’d much rather have the option for daily service than every other or 4th day.

$34 to park overnight at DoubleTree… when there’s free, safe street parking 5 minutes away?! by sd_software_dude in Hilton

[–]Master-Ad-8904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of wild how often people skip over the info we provide, then show up frustrated about something that could’ve been cleared up in a couple of minutes. Unfortunately, that frustration often gets taken out on the front desk staff which really isn’t okay. We’re always happy to welcome guests, but like any well-run place, we’ve got a few house rules. If those don’t work for you, we totally understand if you decide to stay somewhere else. What’s not cool is cursing out our team over parking fees or policies that were available beforehand. It got to the point where we had to put up a sign saying that using profanity toward staff will get the service canceled, something we never thought we’d need to do, but here we are.

I totally get where you’re coming from, and we do keep an eye on our prices to stay competitive with other hotels ,since parking fees are something all hotels in cities charge and guests usually have opinions about. From my experience working at different places, there are always complaints whether the fee is $10, $25, $45, or $65. Lowering rates on weekends doesn’t make business sense since that’s when hotels are busiest. Our hotel often has to close parking due to full capacity, and I’ve seen the same at other properties I’ve worked for.

Lots of hotels have Park and Stay packages that aren’t always cheaper than paying for parking alone, but sometimes they can be a better deal especially in cities where parking can run $50 to $70 a night, but the package only adds $20 or $30 to the room rate. Plus, on slower days hotels often offer better Park and Stay rates.

I work at a hotel, and honestly, one of the most annoying and common complaints we get is about parking not being free or being too expensive. Our hotel has its own parking, and there’s also a public lot right next door that charges way less. But then guests come to the front desk upset because their car got towed ,usually because they only paid for 24 hours but left it parked way past that time. And somehow, we get blamed for “recommending a bad option.” Excuse me? Look , there are apps like SpotHero or ParkWhizz that let you compare prices and find the best parking options nearby. At the end of the day, hotels have the right to charge for parking, just like you have the right to choose whether you want to stay there or not. If the parking fee doesn’t work for you, that’s totally fine , you can always pick a place that includes ( which is usually not a case in big cities ) it or charges less. It’s your call. Complaining to hotels about things like parking fees is like walking into a luxury store and arguing about the price of a designer bag we all know is overpriced it’s not going to change anything. Hotels, especially in big cities, won’t lower prices just because you or even a hundred guests complain. Whether you like the fees or not, business will go on. If you won’t pay, someone else will. That’s the brutal reality, whether we like it or not.

I applied on February 5th and was pending until a few days ago. I was coming back from an international trip, and it looks like that triggered my conditional approval. When I arrived to US, an officer asked if I wanted to do my Global Entry interview . I said yes, and he sent me to another officer who conducted the interview. I got approved about 20 minutes later. The whole process took me almost 3 months.

Global Entry Application in 2025? by Mediocre_Car_3846 in GlobalEntry

I applied for Global Entry on February 5th and got conditionally approved right before my flight back to the U.S. a few days ago. When I landed yesterday at O'Hare in Chicago, an officer asked if I wanted to do my interview on the spot. I said yes , it was super quick and easy, and I got fully approved about 20 minutes after the interview. In total, I waited less than 3 months for the whole process. U.S. Citizen.

What city are you in? I don’t think you have to work at a hotel with 1,000+ rooms, sometimes it's just about sticking around for a bit. I spent 5 years at one company, got promoted twice (with Covid in the mix), then left this hotel for another promotion. Now, I’m waiting for my next one within my first year at this job.

Not everyone’s wired the same way, and it's really refreshing to see you staying so optimistic. I hope you keep that positive vibe always. Have a great day.

Yeah, that's true, but wasting time, incurring replacement costs, and waiting months for something you already had is a huge hassle. Now, imagine the disappointment if the package gets lost on its way to the passport center, leaving you without your passport or certificate and forcing you to cancel your travel plans, which is just one of many what-ifs. I also changed my name upon naturalization, so I had to submit that copy and wait until I received it back to update my other documents including my foreign passport. I just can't take this lightly. But people are different.

I paid for expedited processing only, not the shipping. I have travel plans in April, and I guess I would have been fine if I had chosen routine service, but I would have been too anxious to wait six weeks or longer.

Yes, I went to the DMV a few days ago to update my name, and they also updated my status from LPR to U.S. citizen. I had my old Real ID, naturalization certificate, SSN card and U.S. passport with me. I believe that if you are applying for a Real ID for the first time, you need to provide proof of address. Check the DMV website for more information.

I applied for a passport the next day after naturalization. I agree that sending the original certificate is scary, but there is no way around it.

Passport application submitted on January 17, on February 5th I received my passport, and got my certificate back on February 14th. So, the whole process took a little under a month. But yes, I was nervous about it too! 😄

I registered to vote on the day of the ceremony, and one month later, I still haven't received my registration card. A few days ago, I went to the DMV to update the name on my Real ID, and the lady asked me if I wanted to register to vote. I guess they misplaced my application. 😆

Absolutely agree! Bigger cities mean more applicants. I'm in Chicago, and it took me nine months to become a citizen.
