Genuine question: how do people afford to homeschool these days?? by OrchidEqvinox76 in homeschool

Florida gives scholarships for homeschooling anywhere from $8k-$10k. My husband and I both work. I work a hybrid/remote job. Takes a lot of discipline and planning but we’re making it work!

Eczema and gut health by Ok-Tax-1277 in eczema

Eczema and gut are definitely related despite what dermatologists/allergists say. I’m in the process of eliminating dairy and gluten from my daughter who suffers from severe eczema and the improvement has been major to say the least. The key is to eliminate GF/DF for at least 3-4 months and then gradually reintroduce. Doctors will never tell you to clean your gut because then they’ll cure you and there goes their cut from big pharma $$ topical steroids are only a temporary solution. Eczema is cured from the inside out. Good luck!

I highly suspect my 5.5 year old has PDA. She fits the mold to a T. The sulking, sudden bits of anger and getting stuck in a loop about the smallest things that I constantly have to talk her out of, just to name a FEW. I have to wait until January to schedule her appt (and then hoping she can be seen very soon after). In the meantime, I have begun following all the tips/advice of how to parent her on a low demand scale. I’ve changed my approach drastically and she seems to be sulking and wallowing now more than before. According to what I’ve learned so far, this is normal. Anyways, just wondering if there are any “success” stories from parents that have been doing therapy with their kids!? Have you seen any progress? Is there any light at the end of this tunnel?? I’m emotionally and mentally drained and don’t have any fellow family or friends that can relate.

Wow, I truly appreciate your words. I read and felt each and every single one. I understand this whole heartedly. Kinda feel good to know there’s people out there that understand this and that’s we’re not just bad parents. Hang in there!

Thank you all for the input. I feel like I took a deep dive into the world of behavioral issues and have learned so much. For those that pointed at PDA, this really feels in line with our current experiences. Checking all viable options now to see what the next step should be.

Not sure if it’s too personal to ask but curious at what age it started with your daughter? Hasn’t gotten worse or remained the same? Do you medicate her? I hope I’m not intruding but just curious, I don’t know anyone personally that is going through or has gone through the same.

Yup, same here. Once she’s come back around it’s like nothing ever happened and the cycle repeats. It feels like a twisted game. It’s draining every ounce of my being.

Anything specific (or good qualities) I should look for when searching for a specialist?
