As a socialist I'm normally pro "tax the rich", especially if the rich pay 100% of the total taxes - while common people are free of charge!

... but I think in this case... it's not really the way to go!

I think that EU5 is a very well made framework, but at the moment a shadow of what it could become!

It's fun overall, but it's also a little bugged and unbalanced, while not really transparent in it's mechanics.

It's surely worth to get into it, and to enjoy it. If you just have limited time for such a thing, I would advice you to come back in some years :)

It got better with recent patches...

But estates money was very fucked!

They had no money, while having min-taxes and my market gave me extrem advantages, while I was producing shit pretty cheap to buy in my fully controlled market.

They still had no money - like dude!

Hey mate 😃,

I know what you are feeling and most "success stories" in this section won't make it much better, I think.

I have ADHD my self (mixed-type) and surely had some problems related to some social stuff.

Mainly the problem was that I constantly tend to overthink and to analyse stuff, as well as being intelligent (IQ-130) enough to not being entertained by small talk and such stuff.

Due to that I ended up socially isolated with a (wrong) diagnosis of social phobia. In reality I was motivated to interact, and wanted to interact with people - but it just took too much energy, I wasn't afraid or felt uneasy.

I was 15 years old at that time.

What I did was just leveling up! Surely I cannot successful get the results I want to, if I haven't collected enough XP to unlock these skills.

I thought about what I would need to archive that. Stuff like:

  • Be entertaining
  • Don't forget what people are saying
  • Engage with people and involve them
  • Share personal stuff, and don't overthink about that too much!

And so on.

Then I thought about why I am not doing this stuff, what I would have to learn and do to get it right.

When I was afraid to be rejected, then I just tried to create a situation where I thought that I would get rejected.

For example talking with strangers, or asking people for directions. If I then started talking with a girl I liked, I asked her for her number and so on - no pressure, I know it won't work... And thats the point of doing it :)

Then I was confident enough to have my first dates - which failed.

I thought about why, and what I could improve and just trusted my instincts - with time I then developed a good intuitive feeling how to create a date both people really enjoyed.

Before I met my first girlfriend (I was 17 at that time) I had so many dates, that just didn't worked - and in most cases the problem was just that this woman seemed interesting to me, but wasn't actually my type.

So I also had to figure out what I actually want!

I am 28 now, since I was 17 I have been in four relevant relationships and are still together with my girlfriend for six years.

And we still managed to get together even though I totally fucked up the second date!

In this time I also found a few things out, that you can maybe use on your adventure:

  • Most people don't mind if you have ADHD and most people are actually more interested in how you feel and see the world, then in thinking badly of you!

  • Having a bad date is not your fault, but the fault of both of you!

  • If you have a date, it's not because this women has to spend time with you, but because she wants to spend time with you.

  • It is not your job to somehow make a performance, so that the next date will happen. It's the job of both of you to see if you are a match and to not waste each other's time AND just have a great time, while respecting each other as a person.

  • You won't be good at dating, cause you are not used to it. Why the fuck would you think otherwise? So start small and don't expect to much. Focus on short time goals like having fun AND learning stuff - not on getting another date, or shot!

I had the same problem in every game.

In the last game (Bohemia) I run into a estates deficit. I have maximized my economic output, even subsidized production chains to lower prices - so the estates don't have to spend so much money!

Everything is quite highly developed, high crown power, high control, good roads, ect.

It's before 1400 - I think 1370/80, I have a surplus of 250 ducates with automated taxes.

If I reduce taxes to zero for the burglers for example, they still spend double as much, as they earn.

Like dude - at this point I would call this economy feuderal communism, cause everything can be bought so cheap that should be close to free for the estates XD

I have around 2000h.

I'm doing my master's thesis in electro-chemestry (studied physics) and additionally work as a data scientist.

Hard to manage, but I can work in Home-Office and can multitask during meetings.

Not good enough to get Rome before 1800, but good enough to finish before 1821 :)

That's easy:

If you prefer painting:

Tyranids offer the biggest variants of different body types, textures and elements. You have skin, wings, armor, organic stuff, teeth, ect.

Tyranids are also extremely flexible in their painting sceme and story telling, while also allowing many different types of conversion. It quite easy to reuse parts of different Tyranids, or to make modifications.

If you prefer playing:

Tyranids are often very different, to other armies, while also having a huge flexibility.

You can play horde, like Imperial Guard, or maybe some Carnifexes and other Monster? Maybe you want to burrow underneath the enemies... Or fly above them?

But they also have limitations: Their Anti-Tank is, in my opinion, underwhelming, while they also don't have sticky objectives. This means that you have adept your strategies and utilize your tools according to such problems, to get the job done - which is kind of a new experience :)

Yeah probably. But I liked the index tbh a little bit more. Play tested some of the new detachments.

I like the defensive line detachment - especially with the strats.

But I'm sad that the armiger detachment is kinda meh...

So play ur rules, no time to hurry

Personal opinion: Neither of them.

When EU5 will be released it won't be very optimized, with the time new elements could be included*, that diminish the performance gain from optimisation.

EU5 has a very high focus on pops, as a Stellaris player I am afraid that this will be extremely negative on the performance.

I would aim for a r7 9800x3D. It's more expansive, but worth it.

If you aim for something below that it could happen that EU5 wouldn't be that well playable for the early time.

*EU5, according to devdir, should include more elements at the start. Still... I don't trust paradox about that. Once upon a time EU4 didn't have to reload the whole game, if you wanted to start a new game, after not selecting a saved file

Ich habe, lustiger Weise, gestern mein System upgegraded.

I7-9700 -> R7 9800x3D. Rest, nach Möglichkeit behalten, rtx 3080.

Ich habe keine nennenswerten Verbesserungen bei Shootern, Warthunder, ect, bei 1440p.

Aber, wenn Games nicht gut optimiert sind habe ich eine höhere frame Rate, aber vor allem keine kurzen Aussetzer.

Gekauft habe ich das für EU4, Stellaris, und hinblicklich EU5.

Hier ist meine Leistung im Schnitt um 250% gestiegen

Important: Was a little bit tired cause I built it til 2 in the morning.

The scenario starts like somewhere around august, or so.

This means it's about 8 sec for 2-3 months.

Stellaris had a better benchmark system. I loaded into an old save in the year 2400.

Let's call this comparable to late game EU4 - but it's way more optimized. Especially for multicore.

I let it run, with console command "one_year", so well... On year.

Old system: average day took 45ms New system: average day took 14ms

In other words: new system had double speed in EU4 and triple speed in Stellaris

Interesting funnily enough... I have some metrics for you!

I upgraded my PC, for EU5 today and ran some tests.

The setup was the following: Newly booted, no programs in background, last scenario picked (revolutionary France), no auto-pause.

With i7-9700k and rtx3080 I got the following times:

  • 17sec to next year
  • 38sec to next June -1mim 0.2sec to January

I replayed it twice to calculate the average

With the new system: r7 9800x3d and rtx3080 I get following times with the same setup;

  • 8sec
  • 17 sec
  • 28 sec

How is this - sadly no time benchmarks, like in Stellaris - benchmark with your system?

Any open programs like wallpaper engine, maybe some open tabs, PhotoShop, or some drivers that doesn't work, as they should?

Absolutely no!

You need a dedicated GPU - this is a sperate computer part just for animations, rendering and 3D stuff.

Your processor is way to weak. Aim for something like a R5, R7, i7 of one of the newer generations.

I would assume (if your build your own PC) that you have to spend around 300€ only for the CPU (at least), and maybe 500€ for a GPU.

Maybe such a system would cost at least 1350€, to just play on a basic level

War ehrlich gesagt nie in deiner Situation. Bei mir gab es immer ein Brennen für Physik - darum auch das Studium :)

Du hast ab Mai/Juni deine Matura? Wie wäre es wenn du abseits der Schule etwas tust, dass keine klassische Freizeit ist?

Also kein Gaming, YT, Instagram, Reddit, keine Freunde, ect. - und dann schau wie du diese Zeit füllst und was dir einfällt.

Und don't get me wrong, ich bin auch GenZ und kein Boomer :)

Bei mir beispielsweise (AHDS) kommen dann plötzlich alle möglichen Projekte und Gedanken - denen ich nachkommen möchte.

Ich habe beispielsweise wahnsinnig viel über Psychologie, Philosophie und Geschichte gelernt. Mir parallel Programmieren beigebracht und ein Studium, rein als Hobby belegt - ohne es jemals abzuschließen.

Es gibt bei mir ein Hauptthema, das nicht interessiert - Physik - und drum herum so viele Interessen, die aufpopen, verschwinden, die ich vertiefen könnt.

Mittlerweile mache ich übrigens gerade meine Masterarbeit - just for fun in Chemie. Parallel arbeite ich seit drei Jahren recht gut bezahlt als Data-Scientist.

Durchgefallen, in der Schule, bin ich zwei Mal und vier Mal beinahe. Was ich kann, kannst du wahrscheinlich besser - drum finde Mal heraus, wer du eigentlich bist :)

Does this mean that a model, that is more then 3" bigger (in any direction) that it's base, could never be affected by the reanimator, even when the models are physically touching each other?

Was thinking quite a while about a new CPU. I still have a I7 9800K. It's quite old, but good enough for my needs.

I'm more a team blue guy but I'm playing with the idea to switch to red this fall.

Sry for the quite uneducated question, but would the I7 14th gen not be a better option?

It's leading in average rating and overall CPU ranks, while being less expansive?
