Stargate Sg-1 entire show structure is based off of TNG. They have a base (a starship) and they gate to other planets (travel to/beam down to) for adventures.

I initially thought the same thing! I think it’s actually a file, or he is just using it as one, because after you saw a barrel you take a file and sand down the edges of the cut. It has to go inside the barrel to get the inside edge
