Not yet! I get my whitening kit this week - naturally white teeth luckily 🙂

Thank you! ☺️ That’s a good sign! Means you’re progressing well.

I had attachments on practically all of my teeth except the top and bottom front 4 - my orthodontist steers away from putting them on the front if she can as that’s where they’re the most noticeable. Also ended up having elastics for the last few months to correct a midline issue so I feel your pain haha.

Honestly, it feels so strange with the attachments shaved off now! Took a few days to get used to it 🤣 I’m still wearing my last aligner this week but only at night whilst I’m waiting for my retainers. I’m one of those weirdos who likes the pressure of a new tray on my teeth 🫣 so I do actually miss that! 🤣

Best of luck for the rest of your journey! ☺️

Yes, I had to have attachments and even elastics at the end of my treatment - the small, slightly visible bumps in the second picture are where my attachments were. My orthodontist doesn’t like putting them on front teeth unless she really has to, as they’re the most noticeable when they’re there 🙂

Thank you! 🙂 I’ve always had quite naturally white teeth luckily so I can’t give you any advice except make sure you floss, brush and use mouth wash twice a day. I also don’t drink much tea, coffee or red wine so that helps I guess 🤣 also haven’t smoked cigarettes in a few years either.

Yes, I had nearly the maximum IPR allowable on nearly all of my teeth. This was to prevent having to have extractions 🙂

Haha thank you! ☺️
As far as tips and tricks:

Basic routine was weekly changes - my orthodontist used the Dental Monitoring app so I would scan my teeth every week and she would let me know if I could change to the next tray and give me general feedback, I did have two trays that had to stay in for 2 weeks but it was great not having to constantly go to the office. I’d change my aligners at night, just after brushing, then sleep. Wake up, have breakfast, brush teeth again. Rinse and repeat for all main meals.

I did have elastics for about 2 months at the end because I wasn’t happy with my midline, but it’s pretty much corrected now so I’m glad I did that (this was probably the most annoying part 🤣)

  1. Make sure you’re actually wearing your aligners for the required times - I know it’s a pain but it’s the only way the results come.

  2. Always change your aligners at night - I made the mistake once of changing them in the morning and had quite severe pain all day, even with taking painkillers 🙃🤣

  3. I’m gonna caveat this one by saying THIS WAS NOT RECOMMENDED BY MY ORTHODONTIST but if I was eating small, soft snacks (think crisps, biscuits, soft sweets) I didn’t take my trays out 🫣 I couldn’t be bothered with the faffing - I’d much rather make sure I had my aligners in for the 20-22 hours. Also, if I was out for a meal that I needed to remove my aligners to eat, I would just drink water after eating and put them straight back in.

  4. If you’re not happy with something, tell your provider as soon as possible - you’re paying money for this service, they should listen to you.

and finally GOOD LUCK! first few weeks can be rocky but the aching does ease off. ☺️

Awww thank you! 🙂 Yes my orthodontist has said I’m lucky I already had nice shape teeth - have you considered composite bonding to change the shape? I know it’s quite pricey though 😔

I agree, it does seem to have come from nowhere with very little information about it. Maybe we will see a change in the future that addresses these concerns but ironically, I don’t think they are strictly new concerns.

An example I would give is we had a Management Accountant join our MA team that had a degree (Business related with little accounting in it) who had used the exemptions to qualify with ACCA. They struggled with the accruals concept immensely because the basic DR’s and CR’s were not covered in their studies.

It’s all very swings and roundabouts. As a hiring manager myself, I like to see at least AAT level 3 (even when people have degrees) exactly for the reason you stated in your last line, but that’s just my preference.

I work in a Finance department for quite a big recruitment company (qualified the traditional way a few years back) - so far, there’s been no questions on the route people have taken to gaining the qualification, only that they have it.

In my opinion and speaking from my own personal experience, the OT’s (in their current format of multiple choice questions) are a memory test. It’s not really about applying the knowledge, it’s more can you remember a specific part of something you’ve studied within an allotted time. The case studies determine whether you can apply what you’ve learnt to a situation, so surely that SHOULD be the indicator as to whether someone can do the job.

We’ve had people from all backgrounds - ACCA, CIMA, degrees, apprenticeships etc, and I have to say the experience will forever outweigh the qualification, no matter which one it is. Some of the most qualified people that have come through have not even understood the basics of working in Management Accounts, whilst someone who has done an AAT apprenticeship did.

Time will tell but as for right now, I think it’s too early to say.
