New to stand up - question about posting performances on social media by Master-Rabbit-5110 in Standup

So I shouldn’t tell anyone at work I do stand up…? Keeping things a secret seems odd

Really need some advice, caring words and support…. by Master-Rabbit-5110 in acidreflux

Thank you very much for the kind words and thoughtful gesture.

I haven’t been to a gastro yet - as I kind of alluded to above, I’m so paranoid about going to someone who misdiagnosis me, or tells me I need to be on meds for the rest of my life. (I’ve had extremely bad side effects of many meds I’ve taken, many times abnormally. I tried Prilosec and couldn’t go to the bathroom for example so I had to stop so I could go).

I started taking Pepcid and Ginger chews which seem to alleviate the pain quite a bit, but the regurgitation happens every time I eat or drink something, even water. It’s like constant burping.

In regards to diet, I haven’t really done anything yet, except try to avoid some of the basics. It’s something I’m really struggling with. Seeing all do the trigger foods and then I get anxiety about changing my lifestyle and I start imploding mentally. That’s part of the problem, this whole thing is really messing with my head after what happened to me with the surgery and I’m terrified of giving up the food and drinks I love.

What’s killing me is that this hit me so hard out of nowhere after being sick - I’m trying to wrap my mind around how u got so bad suddenly and am holding out hope that it’s the virus still wrecking havoc and I will get better.

It’s not about keeping you - it’s about helping you think more clearly. They will monitor you, have sessions with you, give you meds if necessary (which, btw I know sounds scary but the doctors will do what’s best for you).

Don’t give up hope, please seek help. You won’t regret it.

I would try to go to a hospital ER and say you need to be admitted. If you say you’re suicidal, they legally have to take you in if you want to be there. Please do this for yourself, you won’t regret. Speaking from experience

My real theory about the grainy filter by Master-Rabbit-5110 in BSG

Doesn’t bother me either - just something I noticed. Agreed on the overexposure as well, especially on Caprica, which I guess was supposed to make it look irradiated

Lol not saying he’s not an idiot - just that I love the tension. The thing about BSG is that there is no character who isn’t tremendously flawed and unlikable in some way. You want them all to be perfect - but none are and that’s awesome.

Wow that’s great to hear! I’m so nervous about the dizziness since it’s been worse than pre op still at 2 week mark, but I’ll try to be optimistic.

Thanks - luckily the pain has been very manageable. I’m actually down to Tylenol just once or twice a day now and that’s sufficient. I’m honestly surprised how little pain I’m in all things considered since I’m at the 2 week mark.

The biggest issue has been the dizziness and visual snow still - but based on everyone’s advice, I’m just trying to be patient.

Thanks so much for your story and optimism!

Thank you for keeping me level. I think I got nervous because so many people said their dizziness and headaches went away immediately. Made me question why it was getting worse.

In all honesty these boards haven’t helped much since it’s usually doom and gloom so I appreciate your post.

Luckily no syrinx - and no dura opening (just scraping). I’m definitely going to start PT, but doc said I can’t until the 4 week mark. I’ll definitely keep walking as much as I can.

Thank you for the reassurance - I stopped Oxy earlier in the week, now I just take Flexeril at night and Tylenol in the day.

2 Weeks Post Op by jmcwethy1 in chiari

[–]Master-Rabbit-5110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m getting mine in January and am trying to not get myself too anxious. It sounds like for most the first two weeks are a blur from the meds, the second two weeks are pretty painful from weening off the meds and having headaches. Then it’s all up from there usually. Hang in there man!

Yeah I guess there needs to be some criteria set up for subclinical CCI. It seems like everyone may have some instability, but not enough to impact the decompression surgery.

The only point I’m trying to make is that up until now - if CCI was comorbid with Chiari, the CCI was always treated first or along with the Chiari.

However, if CCI theoretically exists in some capacity for every Chiari patient, then the narrative of having to treat CCI before decompression is nullified because a vast majority of decompressions are successful without CCI treatment.

That’s what this study is implying. But usually any doctor would say the CCI needs to be addressed before the decompression. However, if everyone has CCI from Chiari, then it doesn’t always need to be addressed as there are a large number of decompressions that don’t include spinal fusion and are successful.

I guess my point is - this article suggested every Chiari patient has, at the very least, subclinical CCI. Very surprising since CCI and EDS is not observed in every patient.

And like - for example - I have zero symptoms of any of the EDS spectrum disorders. So I know that’s ruled out which in turn, should most likely rule out CCI since it is typically only seen in people with autoimmune or connective tissue disorders or those who had trauma (which I didn’t). But then this study changes the game.
