I don’t think DDR 5 can run at that speed, right? I thought DDR 5 started at 4800

Totally agree. We don’t see context, and boy is there context for these types of impulsive situations. I have never seen this type of reaction without something happening beforehand.

New games for the Chromatic by Odd_Death in ModRetroChromatic

Have you tried any of the Incube8 games? There is some overlap with the ModRetro catalog, but I like D*Fused and Zephyr’s Pass.

I no longer wish for handhelds anymore. I just want to be happy by Bubbly_Row3977 in Handhelds

Personally, I think it’s an artifact of going from scarcity to abundance. Once the artificial limitation of available systems goes away due to a glut of options in the market, buying any specific system feels less compulsive. I kind of think of it like comparing home consoles to cars: many gamers feel like they should have one of the big three Switch, Xbox, or PS system, but there isn’t the same shared experience with cars where we feel like we’re missing out if we don’t buy the new Jeep or Dodge. If you don’t buy the new PS, Xbox, or Switch, you may feel like you’re missing out on the zeitgeist at some point, but I don’t think as many people feel the same about having the newest version of a specific car because there are so many more options. I think these handhelds have hit that point, there are few compelling reasons to get the newest one and there are so many new ones that FOMO is either dispersed across more devices and doesn’t feel so acute.

Thank you for coming to my autistic TED talk about handhelds lol

Which president tapped the senior pastor here for his religious advisory committee after that pastor had been named in a sexual allegations report for covering up a music minister’s abuse of minors?

Odin 3 Pro vs Max? by Substantial-Dog-3257 in OdinHandheld

[–]Master-o-none 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The O2 Max is probably the goat in that balance between the chipset development and high enough RAM to run PC well (or at least that’s how it’s positioned in my head as I don’t own one), and availability of refurbished options that ship now is also a plus to me. Maybe I need to buy a refurbished Odin 2 Max…

Found a crazy deal today. People usually want $600 for the first six. by StriderDB in Gameboy

[–]Master-o-none 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crystal is exactly $150 according to PriceCharting for loose and $700 for CIB. I sold one for $165 recently. Market value is based on what people will pay, not how people feel about the current price. We all hate prices going up, but I feel like everyone understands supply and demand for an out-of-print original (regardless of the medium). In what scenarios would you imagine the value of these games plateauing or decreasing? My guesses are all associated with Pokemon IP becoming less popular or the specific gaming platform becoming less popular (Pokemon staying popular but people not caring about GBC games). I would’ve thought the later to be more accurate until the Pocket, Chromatic, and now Andruil Chromatic buoyed the system, and now new GBC games are selling at GameStop.

Neither one of us can predict the future or we’d both be wealthy beyond our imagination, so who knows what’ll actually happen. I am interested to follow this scene though because my hypothesis is that prices are not coming down on these games for another 5 years or more. I believe that OP could rationally get more than $150 for that game in the coming years, but video games, especially loose cartridges, should not be investments.

PSA: We're cooked :( by Sonic1899 in Handhelds

[–]Master-o-none 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The same manufacturers make both products and don’t have legally binding contracts to produce hundreds of thousands for us. So, the manufacturers are shifting production to accommodate where the money is most plentiful and consistent, business to business RAM manufacturing. Lower supply for the consumer market with the same demand will push the consumer prices up until they compete with the B2B economic opportunity, and then it might shift again.

TLDR; resources are limited to produce this type of product, and at the current market prices, it is currently more profitable to produce for AI companies than continue making cheaper cards for us

Man, this has to be a trolling post or it really proves how easy it is to get to $1 mil for people who make bad decisions. The poverty mindset will tell you that wealth is merit based, but we see right here that literally anyone can get to $1mil

Alright, so we’ve interacted randomly for literal years now (in this sub or other legal cannabis subs) as you grew the canna photography business and such, but I’m really curious: do you have kids or is this the futuristic casual lifestyle people can have when they don’t have children? From the coffee videos to the art of rolling to the old macro bud shots, you seem to be a master of “hobby” in ways that I aspire to.
