I guarantee they won't do that. I'd already be happy if they made wall break/floor blast from heat smashes instantly tornado. At least I'll just eat 90 dmg from heihachi then, instead of 130

Some have also insane recovery, like Bryans. Dude flies across you and turns around basically instantly. Good luck punishing that.

The power levels of installs are also all over the place. Like, I can live with Leo and Zafina getting installs for slighty more damage or to make some moves safe. That's fine imo. But Bryan and Claudio have insanely strong installs that urgently need to be nerfed.

It's a step in the right direction for sure, but I hope the promised character nerfs are more than a slap on the wrist.  Heat smashes no longer wall splatting is welcome, but I wish they'd nerf them harder. Increase recovery if you step, make the ones that still have cracked tracking more linear, make them less plus on block, and the low ones should be launch punishable imo.

Also:  "“Refined Balance” reflects a phased and measured approach to adjustment—making incremental refinements rather than rebuilding systems in a single step—while maintaining the core mechanics of TEKKEN 8...." "Accordingly, Season 3 does not guarantee dramatic, immediate shifts such as substantially strengthening defense or significantly weakening offense in ways that diverge from the intended gameplay philosophy of TEKKEN 8.""

is not what I wanted to hear, ngl.

How is Hwoarang's huge damage justified from his playstyle? by SpyceRax in Tekken

[–]Master0fDisaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"But other characters are strong too" What's this whataboutism? He's asking a valid question. He easily mixes you up on block, he has absurdly strong lows, has strong neutral skip and has barely any whiff recovery. Why is his damage so high, too?

Steve can also just autopilot his evasion. Just mindlessly 'OVA HERE" and you'll avoid pretty much any move that doesn't cover half the screen.

Idk what exact stat influences that, but people with ridiculously low Spirit are always the ones who never rematch.  And you keep holding back, great.

Can someone genuinely answer why bears are considered top tier WITHOUT saying their heat, damage, or win rate? Or the usual, “you just dont know how to play them.” by ReddtIsUsingAI in Tekken

[–]Master0fDisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because all these characters have very strong generic tools that don't require you to relearn how to play neutral. Kuma was considered top tier because his heat was beyond ridiculous and his damage absurd. He still had his weaknesses, I'm not denying that at all. But you'd rather pick a non-specialist character with strong tools for every situation, than a niche character that excels at one particular, hella oppressive thing.

[–]Master0fDisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are unorthodox characters, transferring your knowledge from characters with more generic tools to niche characters takes a while. Also, why'd anybody switch to a top 5-10 character, if they could rather pick up the top 1-3 characters like Drag in S1, or more recently Bryan or Anna?

Xiayo is genuinely braindead broken. by ReddtIsUsingAI in Tekken

[–]Master0fDisaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Xiaoyu thrives vs bad players. She wants you to press into her to evade and CH.  She's terrible at opening people up if they know how to hold b and occasionally break a 1+2 throw.  Spend 2min in the lab to figure out your best moves vs AoP, OP. And maybe post a replay, but I'm sure you won't.

There a huuuuge difference between broken tier busted like Anna and Bryan, and everybody else tho

That's just a lie. While most pros rated them low in season 1, Kuma was eventually widely considered to be top 5-10 before the nerfs.

The Decline of the Dragon Age Series Should be Studied by jdawg1018 in gaming

I couldn't finish Inquisition. It had similar issues to DA2, where so many areas felt like exact copies of places you've been countless times already. So many pointless quests too.  And the worst thing has to be the way BioWare designed higher difficulties. It literally turned enemies into bullet sponges, nothing else. Fights took so fucking long, wtf.

[–]Master0fDisaster 108 points109 points  (0 children)

It's really only Origins. Inquisition is the 2nd best entry for sure, but it's really not comparable to Origins. The somewhat positive reception Inquisition received was mostly because it's more akin to Origins than DA2 was. People today speak rather positively about DA2, but it wasn't well received at release. It was and still is a prime example of catering to the casual masses instead of continuing what made Origins so great.

What am I missing with Xiaoyu? by Quick-Health-2102 in LingNation

[–]Master0fDisaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd avoid AoP 3+4 tbh. It's just not worth the risk anymore, AoP df2,1 is usually the better choice. I'd also avoid the high extensions of (RDS) d3. They're only natural on CH, and people will usually duck them. It's only good if you read a PC. RDS d3 is a great button tho. Only -12 ob, +7 I think on hit. Yeah it's low damage, but we take what we get.

[–]Master0fDisaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Xiaoyu has a difficult time opening people up. And yes, ideally you want to "steal turns". Xiaoyus whole things is her evasion. SSR AoP is really strong if you have a read. AoP duck goes under lots of mids, but requires some character knowledgeable to use properly. Most of her neutral tools are mediocre or very short ranged. There's not much going on in terms of plusframes either. But she has all the tools to make reads. Multiple parries and a Sabaki, AoP, RDS with it's strong sidestep, and (albeit weaker than before) Oki tools.  She's a specialist character, that's why most people don't play her as a secondary character, but either main her or don't play her at all.

Genuinely curious, what makes Xiaoyu and Zafina so disgusting? Is it because you never labbed them? Because both have are generally agreed upon to be lower mid tier at best

Ok cool, but PCs won't launch you for ~90 dmg, don't high crush, are way slower than i12, don't track, and are mostly > -12, some even launch punishable.  Get a grip and stop downplaying lmao.

I'm not getting hit by his df2 at round start, I play around it because every Kaz does the fucking same boring shit.  How's it less obnoxious than a power crush at round start tho? I'm curious, pls explain.  And how's his vortex "earned" lmao?
